I guaranteed a loan for a long term friend last July, for around £1250 they made 2 payments on it then declared themselves bankrupt reassuring me they'd send me the money each month. The loan was held until May this year because of the bankruptcy claim going through. I've been making the payments on a massively reduced rate.

This "friend" however has been spending a ludicrous amount of money on clothes, takeaway, nights out and other stuff yet has never once offered me anything towards this loan or even an apology.

I feel really upset that someone I am friends with has done this to me. I feel like I should say something but at the same time I feel really horrible just pouring out how pissed off I am at random. I feel like it's my own fault.

@bellabelle1994 I’m sorry your friend has treated you so badly but I’m so glad to hear you have told her what a test she is.

She sounds like the kind of person who will never acknowledge what they’ve done so at least you won’t have to deal with her shit friendship anymore.

Good for you for fighting your own corner. I hope she feels ashamed even if she’s never admit it.

Send her a copy of the statement and say:

“You need to start paying for this.”

You need to photograph all this stuff she is buying and contact the receiver.

OP, this is a very expensive lesson for you but do what you can to try and get out of it.

Don't take it lying down.

Also warn ALL family and mutual friends about what she has done.

Yeah she's bankrupt, I thought she was lying as well so I checked the insolvency register, as true as blue she's there 🙄

Screen shot all the buying and send it to the lender as proof she can pay. Make sure you take it further.

The clothes she buys are fucking horrible anyway but that's what she deserves
