Inspired/copied/due to lack of my own ideas

What phrases/come backs/irritating things do people say on MN?

OP posts:
beentoldcomputersaysno · 08/09/2021 17:57

Just need to get on with it now (about pandemic (usually uttered by us4them types who for some unfathomable reason think no mitigations in schools will help cause less disruption)

Listener2021 · 08/09/2021 18:00

'And so it begins.'

'Let that sink in.'

(So bloody smug.)

'Hubby.' obviously.

IcedPurple · 08/09/2021 18:03

@VanGoSunflowers

I hate it when you disagree with someone and they say “I’m entitled to my opinion”

Well yes, and so am I. My opinion is that I disagree with your opinion.

Or when you get into a debate with someone and get told that 'Waah! You're gaslighting me!'

Maybe if you don't want people to disagree with and debate your points, don't post on a public forum?

Abitofalark · 08/09/2021 18:04

Bile yer heid is nothing like and certainly not a 'version' of that annoying other phrase.

VanGoSunflowers · 08/09/2021 18:06

I also hate it when people end a sentence with “simples”
And anyone who refers to someone as a ‘drama llama’

Grapewrath · 08/09/2021 18:06

I hate ‘are you on glue’. It’s not funny, outdated and doesn’t even make sense

VanGoSunflowers · 08/09/2021 18:07

Also hate it when someone wants to type a counter argument and starts the post with ‘sigh’ Angry

zukiecat · 08/09/2021 18:10

@Abitofalark

To me it means pretty much the same, maybe a slight difference.

I've never actually told anyone to Bile yer heid though

toconclude · 08/09/2021 18:20

'You're just jealous'
No, I think XYZ is a vacuous waste of money although I could easily afford it...

Based on this thread we could delete about 80% of MN posts

I think that some dislike certain sayings but quite a few use the sayings so assume that they like them or feel it makes them sound a certain way...

Some IMO make the poster look silly or a bit of a prat. But they obviously like the saying since presumably they wouldn't use unless it's done to annoy.

I sometimes wonder how these people crying and shaking after someone told them to move out of the way at the Aldi checkout react to the type of thing I’d cry and shake at.

Like I got in a car accident with my two youngest a few years ago where we were hit by a drunk driver and pushed into the other side of the road. Luckily the road was empty but when I got out of the car I saw the road and I was crying and shaking. If I’d used all that up at Aldi I imagine I’d just need to scream at the sky and turn into Godzilla or something at a car crash/house fire/actual traumatic event.

sweatervest · 08/09/2021 19:49

i am literally laughing out loud at "let that sink in"

OP always makes me think of tshirts (ocean pacific)
and if someone said "time to bath baby" i would think they're talking about dirty dancing

i can't BEAR "right .... so here is my massively long paragraph". the "right" really irks me.

DesdemonaDryEyes · 08/09/2021 20:37

Jeez you lot are a miserable bunch.

GillBiggeloesHair · 08/09/2021 20:39

Genuinely curious - goady fucker.

Let's call him/we'll call him - no fuck off, back space out of thread and hide.
Ditto hubs, hubby and the like.
Ditto floods of tears, just no.
Ditto shaking & crying, FFS.

Anxiety - am I the only one who doesn't have it?

Hormonal -WTF?

Bloody hobbies that are outing - who cares? We all know it's cycling.

Baby instead of the baby
Choc instead of chocolate
Brought/bought enrages me
Reached out
Curated

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 08/09/2021 21:10

Also, 'cop yourself on' or similar and 'grinds my gears'.

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 08/09/2021 21:12

And 'a red lip', 'a smart trouser' usually found on S&B.

merryhouse · 08/09/2021 21:13

I feel old today. ZOMG has been around for ages.

I also grew up using Wedding Breakfast... and Grin is my most over -used emoji

merryhouse · 08/09/2021 21:13

Oh, chavvy annoys me (except when it's something I do. Then I'm delighted).

Returnoftheowl · 08/09/2021 21:18

Boobing the baby - sounds like you're going your small child with your tit.

whiterheg · 08/09/2021 21:19

The only time I cry and shake is after a particularly intense orgasm

Lonelydaisy · 08/09/2021 21:19

Run for the hills

theThreeofWeevils · 08/09/2021 21:45

'and rightly so'
'methinks'
Both are reliable wanker indicators.
