Things you’ve bought that have essentially changed your life for the better.

For me, it’s a swim dress. Basically a swimming costume with a little skirt that just covers the bikini line. Flattering, hides my stomach and most importantly it doesn’t matter if my bikini line is needing a little attention. It has completely taken the stress out of taking the kids swimming and now we go all the time Smile

Other game changers for me include the perfect prep (🥰), L’Oréal eight-second wonder water, and Pinch of Nom.

A regular visit from a cleaner.

Triathlon style swimming costumes (I'm enough of a feminist to resist de-hairing my bikini line, but oppressed enough by the patriarchy to not want to show off hairy minge-edges.)

My old-fashioned ceiling airer or 'maiden'. Changed my life. Seriously.

sheepisheep · 24/08/2021 16:08

Sleepphones! Flat headphones you can wear in bed. Brilliant for playing something quietly to help you fall asleep.

Mankini · 24/08/2021 16:17

FatCatThinCat which robot lawnmower do you have? Sounds ideal - I hate mowing.

OatyLatte · 24/08/2021 16:43

Sear and stew slow cooker.

Tumble dryer and dishwasher, having lived without both for many years. Our new house has room for both.

DillonPanthersTexas · 24/08/2021 16:52

Telling various people at work to piss off when they try and rope me into doing something at 5pm as I am just about to walk out the door.

PlanBea · 24/08/2021 16:55

Another vote for my eufy robovac. We have one upstairs and one downstairs as we were so pleased with our downstairs one.

The eufy wifi plug sockets also, attached to lamps so when I would get up to feed my newborn I didn't have to faff with getting the right lighting.

My WiFi washing machine was a revelation, having a little alert to tell me when the washing was done pop up on my TV has been very handy, as has the auto dosing detergent and conditioner.

Lumie bedside light, like with the robot hoover we just upgraded ours and the first one is in the guest room - the gentle wake up made me much brighter in the morning!

I never thought I would be typing this but Gusto food boxes have changed my life. DH wanted to try them and I gave in after about a year of saying no. Not thinking about what to cook has made my life better. I think we are eating better and it has not worked out any more expensive as I don't keep popping to the shop to buy things I forgot. Working really well for us.

Also portion control is great so we are both slowly losing weight (which we need to) without trying. Love trying new things. We are eating much more vegan and veg options.

Brainwave89 · 24/08/2021 17:38

Buying a bike- It gave me enormous freedom to exercise and go to lots of great places. I have had so much fun on it.

A robot vacuum cleaner- They really do work and made such a difference.

Ipad/iphone- The ability to play lots of music in any order and then the use of spoltify rekindled by love of music.

SunnyAgain · 24/08/2021 17:40

Little Hotties disposable hand warmers. After decades I can now go outside in the winter without having miserably cold hands. They stay hot for hours inside a pocket or in my mittens, they are almost like a miracle for me!

Ohhelpmetoo · 24/08/2021 17:43

Kindle
Slow cooker( things seem to taste better without me interfering with them . )
And I was interested to read that a pp has returned to sheets and blankets . I was thinking about this in the night . I am sure they were more comfortable. I seem to throw duvets off in the night .

Guineapigbridge · 24/08/2021 17:52

Ebike - I ride everywhere now, because I can easily carry everything I need to and because I don't need to change into or out of special clothes to ride.

Regular cleaner. The freedom of never having the fact that the shower's not clean hanging over your Saturday.

Cutting out alcohol.

Words · 24/08/2021 17:53

Another vote for regular cleaner. Life changing.

Jemimapuddleduk · 24/08/2021 18:03

Soup maker
Kindle
Apple Watch- not a game change but I love it
Dyson cordless hoover

Hopeisnotastrategy · 24/08/2021 18:07

Having two washing machines. Quicker, easier and more efficient if the weather's playing ball.

Dehumidifier, both summer and winter.

A comfortable fish slice - I found one I liked and bought ten. It's like an extension of my arm when I'm cooking.

maddening · 24/08/2021 18:08

Hiring a cleaner, she comes every Saturday and has made my life easier.

Jerseygirl12 · 24/08/2021 18:12

Dyson hair dryer.
Cordless Dyson.

Chunkymonkey123 · 24/08/2021 18:20

Chub rub shorts
Sleep headphones

Dehumidifier - I did some washing at my mums and I was shocked to remember how long things take to dry without one!

Also interested to know which robot lawnmower is good! Does it cope with hills?!

buntywindermere · 24/08/2021 18:27

Swapped my first cup of tea in a morning for hot water with lemon. I sip it and say my prayers and I just feel sooo much better.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 24/08/2021 18:28

Robot lawn mower.
Weighted blanket.

SnarkyBag · 24/08/2021 18:30

Oh yes forgot about dehumidifier, combined with ceiling airers it makes for a much quicker turn around of drying washing.

AnxiousPixie · 24/08/2021 18:36

Shewee. The idea grossed me out for ages then DH bought me one when I was pregnant. We do a lot of walking and it's been a life saver since giving birth. Just never got the hang of squatting (TMI?? Blush)

saladcreamandegg · 24/08/2021 18:37

A proper sellotape dispenser... a heavy one you get in offices... every Christmas I'm so glad I've got it when wrapping gifts!
