Things you’ve bought that have essentially changed your life for the better.

For me, it’s a swim dress. Basically a swimming costume with a little skirt that just covers the bikini line. Flattering, hides my stomach and most importantly it doesn’t matter if my bikini line is needing a little attention. It has completely taken the stress out of taking the kids swimming and now we go all the time Smile

Other game changers for me include the perfect prep (🥰), L’Oréal eight-second wonder water, and Pinch of Nom.

Also gel nail varnish I'm in my 30s so old enough to remember the constant chipping of regular polish even the good quality stuff.

I love whoever invented it!

Great thread op I'm getting lots of tips.

LittleGwyneth · 24/08/2021 11:01

L'Oreal Pro Glow foundation. I have to buy it from Amazon because it was discontinued but it's the best.

Bed of nails accupressure mat - has been revolutionary for sleep, anxiety and back pain.

Bluetooth keyboard for my laptop.

Kerastace hair masques.

Therapy. Resisted for years, but it has changed my life. Expensive but can't imagine being without it.

Sheets and blankets rather than a duvet

Now, this is interesting. I’ve been longing to give myself permission to go back to the bedding I grew up with. I use a sheet with a wool duvet - but it’s still not the same.

And no one could ever say a duvet is as pretty on a bed as sheets and blankets and a velvet or patchwork quilt.

My thing is my manual coffee grinder. Makes me happy every morning. (Toned arms are a bonus.)

Astella22 · 24/08/2021 11:07

I love my robot hoover and my apple EarPods

@Wheretoeattweenandteen

Which swimming suit I can't believe how few swim suits are about for ladies who don't want to walk around with dental floss over their privates.. Even when I was 8 stone I didn't want too!! Even for dd 13!! I don't want full blown modesty just cute shorts..

Pant divider boxes for us all and esp for washing, so as I sort clean washing on ironing board the girls undies can go straight into their respective box which they take to their drawers and put straight into their designated pant section, sock section... Hallelujah.

No more scrabbling around in the drawer for them or dh looking!!

IKEA.

Love travel kettle idea...

Not quite the same as a swim skirt, but I'd highly recommend these swim shorts from Boden. I wear them with the rash vest and feel like it looks sporty rather than like I'm trying to be covered up (even though I am). I do wear a moulded cup bikini top underneath the rash vest, though, because there's no support in the tops.

2 single duvets on a super king size bed - much better sleep

Separate laundry day for each family member. No more sorting of laundry, and as they’ve got older they start doing their own on their day

LalalalalalaLand123 · 24/08/2021 11:09

Ikea food bag clips. I clip everything possible now, and things stay so fresh! Also the tupperware containers that are air/water tight.

Offset saving - so for example when I think of buying something non-essential, I consider either buying it, or putting that money into savings instead. Really helps with saving, and minimising non-essential spending.

Veganism - absolutely love it, feel so much better physically and mentally.

Fry Light cooking & baking spray.

1L water bottle with time slots to encourage me to drink water all day.

Detangle spray to make brushing DC's hair slightly less stressful.

Wet room,
Electric bed,
Electric hot water bottle,
Down stairs bedroom,
Travel mug.

Themadcatparade · 24/08/2021 11:22

A life straw - we hike and camp out a lot. It literally filters everything out of the dirtiest of water so you have fresh water on demand.

Also our jetboil.

A really good coffee machine. I almost never buy coffees out now. A jacuzzi mat for the bath. I suffer with a lot of aches and pains, restless legs etc, and it’s been so good for me.
I like the sound of a jacuzzi mat, can you please share the make
InteriorDesignHell · 24/08/2021 11:43

Robot vacuum and mop - we have a two story house but it's still a lot easier just to hook them upstairs and set them off than it was to hoover and mop.
E-bike - I can just rock up somewhere, not worry about parking, lock the bike up with its back wheel Dutch type lock and kickstand, put the goods in the panniers and sail home. Used to commute with it too - no sweating!
Water softener - bloody expensive but I hadn't realized how much gunk gets caught in the limescale - the house was instantly a degree less revolting.

Google Assistant - "hey Google on BLAH remind me to BLAH" keeps my life on track. Even better "Hey Google at BLAH remind OH to do X" also works as he also has an android phone and is in my contacts...

BornToBeWilde · 24/08/2021 11:47

@SharpLily
What do you mean "double duvet-ing"

BornToBeWilde · 24/08/2021 11:48

For those of you who have said a robotic vacuum cleaner, can you share the model please?

MrsG30 · 24/08/2021 11:49

Wearable breast pumps - I’m exclusively pumping and they make life so much easier during the day. Definitely changed the game as would have quit pumping if it wasn’t for them.

Nursing bra hack for my regular pump - means I dont have to wear awful pumping bras which show up through a top.

Half load wash on the washing machine - I struggle with laundry so as soon as I have a half load it goes in and I keep up with it all so much better.

Sexnotgender · 24/08/2021 11:59

Dehumidifier.

What may do you have? And is it noisy?
RubyGoat · 24/08/2021 12:10

Electric rice cooker. I eat a lot of rice, quinoa etc & it's great being able to set it & know it will be perfectly cooked & hot every time, never burnt. I've even managed to get DH to use it.

Metal double walled hot drinks mug, & cold water bottle. Helps me stay hydrated - I'm not good at remembering to drink if it isn't right in front of me.

Aposterhasnoname · 24/08/2021 12:19

Robot vac, smart alarm/plugs/lights and Alexas for every room.

Mummyratbag · 24/08/2021 12:21

Eyelash growth serum (I have eyelashes again)

Chillow (great on hot nights)

Shark Vacuum

BillMasheen · 24/08/2021 12:32

Noise cancelling headphones and a duvet Of my own (no sharing a duvet with DH)

Royalbloo · 24/08/2021 12:32

Slow cooker for one with a timer plug for extra safety

ohnonotyetplease · 24/08/2021 12:36

Snag tights. Gorgeous colours, lovely quality, and I buy them in autumn, wear all winter, chop the feet off come April ish then wear all summer .... And they come in a size that fits me perfectly. Ranges from size 4 - 30+ ....
Also, having a cleaner to come and help once a fortnight - I have the minimum amount of time available and it's the most brilliant thing I've ever spent money on. ... Really a game changer.
