Things you’ve bought that have essentially changed your life for the better.

For me, it’s a swim dress. Basically a swimming costume with a little skirt that just covers the bikini line. Flattering, hides my stomach and most importantly it doesn’t matter if my bikini line is needing a little attention. It has completely taken the stress out of taking the kids swimming and now we go all the time Smile

Other game changers for me include the perfect prep (🥰), L’Oréal eight-second wonder water, and Pinch of Nom.

I put a cork coaster under my floor lamp @SwimmingUnderwater, it stops him getting stuck.

JedEye · 30/08/2021 09:46
@Graphista literally just ssy to Alexa

"Add bread, tomatoes and toilet roll to the shopping list" or whatever you want

It juat records it in a liat on your phone/ or it can read it back to you. You can then tick things off the app list as you shop
Open the Alexa app and in the menu click on ‘lists’. Your shopping list will be there.you can add and delete items by voice or via the app.

Genius!

I'm gutted. I looked at the Eufy yesterday and thought instead of being my usual impulse self I'd sleep on it. I've gone back to buy it this morning and it's no longer on special offer so is £80 more expensive. Sad

Users of the Phillips Lumea or similar haor zapping device...
How often do you need to use it to stay hair free? And how long would it take you to do both legs for example?
I've been pondering one for a long time and this thread might just sway me...

Tinysnickers · 30/08/2021 10:15

Oh, and eufy users, are the any good pn carpet? I'm debating one for upstairs but it's all carpet.
No point having one downstairs and the floor is a permanent lego obstacle course and it would either eat the lego or be unable to actually clean because there's little clear floor around the lego.

Tinysnickers · 30/08/2021 10:22

For me, applying the Marie Kondo folding method to clothes.
I haven't done any of her joy sparky stuff or thrown anything away, I just folded clothes and put them in drawers upright how she does.
Means I can see instantly the thing I need.
Also, doing it for the kids means they can see and take out the thing they want without removing the entire contents of their drawer and stuffing the rest back in unfolded.

Cynderella · 30/08/2021 10:29

Alexa shopping list ... I have another app called Anylist which is linked to the Alexa list. If I say, Alex add gin, the gin shows up on both lists.

So I have two identical lists on my phone BUT the Anylist one automatically sorts into categories so all produce together, all dairy together. You can also change categories so I put eggs with Baking because that's where they are in Aldi and Tesco.

BruceAndNosh · 30/08/2021 10:32

I've just bought my first Alexa Echo-
Please tell me what game changing things it does

peaceanddove · 30/08/2021 10:37

@CleanQueen123

Thanks *@diamondpony80*. My nails are awful and no amount of strengthening nail varnish and cuticle oil seems to be making a difference.
You need Nailtiques Formula No. 2. Not cheap but it will give you strong, glossy natural nails in just a couple of weeks.

You're welcome x

bigbadbedknobs · 30/08/2021 10:42

When I had the house rewired recently, I had some sockets with USB slots added round the place, brilliant idea. so handy. Got a couple of long multipurpose charging cables so whether you need an ordinary end or a lightening end it is OK and if a visitor has a different charging need to you they can still use your cable. I only leave them plugged in where I need them on a day to day basis, so sare room one isn't plugged in all the time. Actually bought these by accident but it was a happy accident
A dehumidifier is good for helping dry clothes, a family member lives in a very old house with thick stone walls. They find that having a dehumidifier raises the temperature noticibly and means that even in winter they do not often need to use the tumble dryer as clothes dry pretty quickly

cupofdecaf · 30/08/2021 12:21

Ninja soup maker- also does smoothies, sauces and even makes jam.
Tumble dryer- the energy use isn't ideal but 2 small children it makes such a difference.
Parking camera - can confidently park and don't worry so much about loose kids in car parks etc.
Robotic lawnmower- no more cutting the grass. We've left a few edges to grown long for the bugs etc.
Telescopic shelves in the over / oven that's at chest hight. Just soooo much easier.
Travel cot in our bedroom- so baby doesn't have to go in their own room yet and I don't spend most of the night going backwards and forwards getting him back to sleep.
Travel mug- warm tea around young children without the stress.
Shared shopping list app on both mine and DH phones that sincs so we can add stuff and the other will know.
Sleep suits for baby that zip up from the feet for over night nappy changes.
Hive/ clever switches and lights etc- being able to changes lights or set them and the heating from our phones wherever we are is so handy.
Self filling cat water bowl- don't have to worry about the car spilling her water whilst we're away or it drying out. We can leave her piles of food and she won't over eat but the water was more of a concern.

I really want a robovac now but our floors are constantly covered in toys.

@Coastalswimmer just type eufy into google, and the first hit will take you straight to the eufy website offers page. They have just put up some limited time deals.

Thank you very much. I'm straight on it. Thanks Smile

Graphista · 30/08/2021 13:54

@diamondpony80 if I'm blending a soup I have a smoothie blender that I use. I don't find it too much of a faff, I've used stick blenders in the past too

@Fluffycloudland77 I haven't the space for one here - perhaps in my next kitchen if I ever get one with a decent amount of space in it! Most places seem to have tiny kitchens these days does my head in!

@Workyticket it's an iPhone I have will it work on that? I thought you had to setup a "skill" first?

@JedEye (clever name) thanks for tip

@Cynderella thanks I'll look at that app

Magik01 · 30/08/2021 14:16

Rudy owners and new owners, which model do you have?!

I’m getting one and undecided. :)

Magik01 · 30/08/2021 14:16

Eufy even!

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 30/08/2021 15:15

Loving these suggestions! So much I didn't know I needed 🙈

To the PP who's Alexa doesn't answer random questions - mine did but now doesn't seem to have the capability. Bit annoying!

CleanQueen123 · 30/08/2021 16:27

Thanks @peaceanddove. I've tried so many. My nails either peel and flake or they get a bit stronger but then snap off Angry

Nailtiques is like witchcraft, honestly. I've never known anything else even come close.

My gamechangers:
Silicone menstrual cup (genuinely life changing)
Yoga
Going veggie
Volunteering
Taking a magnesium supplement before bed

RainbowZebraWarrior · 30/08/2021 17:11

@Magik01 I've got Eufy 11s Max. Think there's at least 5 or 6 other people on the thread that have mentioned that model.

There was a thread on here a few years back that convinced me. You must have dark hair - apparently it doesn't work on blonde/red.

I have dark hair, had to shave my legs/bikini line constantly but was always stubbly by the end of the day! Waxing helped but I couldn't be arsed keeping up with it.

I love that you shave first and then zap. The first couple of times take a while. I usually put a film on and do it then so I don't get bored. You leave it for 6 weeks or so in between. For me it only took about 3 times and now I have hardly any hair growing and it's obvious where I've missed. My legs are really smooth. It's great on my upper lip and bikini line as well. I wouldn't have to touch my underarms for weeks either other than I have about 6 stubborn hairs that keep growing back but less each time!

It has been amazing this summer to just throw shorts and a vest on and go out.

Tinysnickers · 30/08/2021 22:35

@justjustwhy thank you, that's really helpful. I think I might hold out for blacm Friday in case of offers and then get one. I'm fed up with shaving bikini line, can't wax it as I get horrible ingrown hairs.
And now I seem to be approaching perimenopause I have dark hairs sprouting on my chin too Angry

Binkybix · 31/08/2021 08:51

I have a lumea that I have never used because I’m intimidated by it. I have quite a few moles so need to cover those up.

Think my dads getting a robo vac for Xmas :)
