Things you’ve bought that have essentially changed your life for the better.

For me, it’s a swim dress. Basically a swimming costume with a little skirt that just covers the bikini line. Flattering, hides my stomach and most importantly it doesn’t matter if my bikini line is needing a little attention. It has completely taken the stress out of taking the kids swimming and now we go all the time Smile

Other game changers for me include the perfect prep (🥰), L’Oréal eight-second wonder water, and Pinch of Nom.

@PeaAndHamSoupFromAChicken

Joseph Joseph Wash, Drain and Store washing up basin. I don't think they sell it any more though.

I have a huge ceramic sink with a plug that doesn't like to work so definitely need a basin (I save so much water with it too and we don't have space for a dishwasher.)

The plug in the bottom of the Joseph Joseph one means I no longer cause a tidal wave in the sink tipping the water out, and there's a decent sized storage section for washing up liquid, sponges/cloths/brushes etc.

They had a few of these in TK Maxx the other day.

Mine is a special wide knife for spreading butter on toast and sandwiches. It has a serrated edge to cut it as well. No more tearing the bread with a table knife.

@FangsForTheMemory

Fancy coffee machine. I dithered about buying it because it was £350 but I wouldn’t be without one now. Robot vacuum - does one of the jobs I hate most. Dishwasher omg I love it to the moon and back!
Which coffee machine please? Been dithering for share!
OohThatCat · 26/08/2021 08:47

@Hanswurst You can buy the airer with a cover that goes over it, so you are basically trapping all the heat and warmth inside the cover. I love it!

frenchfancy81 · 26/08/2021 08:48

@diamondpony80

Morphy Richards one - £60. I was surprised to hear they have bad reviews but I actually just had a look on Amazon and you’re right, a lot of the newer reviews are poor. I’d have given it 5 stars as I’ve used mine a lot over the last 2 years and still works perfectly.
Same here- great gadget!
ShaunaTheSheep · 26/08/2021 09:22

Even better than separate laundry days - once old enough, everyone does their own laundry including bedding and towels. And, before anyone asks, there is more than enough for full loads every time. DH does our bedding Smile

BippityBoppity87 · 26/08/2021 09:37

Air fryer
Multi USB plug
Wireless headphones
Magnetic white board with clip in pen
Bulk buying loo roll/washing powder online
Tumble dryer
Philips Lumea
Retinol/vitamin C tonic
Olaplex bonding oil
MAC high lighter powder
Benefit make up setter
High wasted buttery soft leggings off Amazon. Thick material, don't fall fall down and not see-through

I really want a robot vacuum!

BippityBoppity87 · 26/08/2021 09:38

*high waisted

Branleuse · 26/08/2021 09:50

my oodie/kuddly for the winter. My house is so cold in winter and hard to heat, and last winter i wore this indoors a lot and to bed and it made my winter a lot less uncomfortable.
A cleaner. My cleaning lady and cleaning gentleman. It does use up most of one of my kids DLA, but really totally changed my life.
Learning to drive. I learned as an adult in my late 30s and i know everyone says it will change your life, but it really did even more than I expected. Like night and day.
HRT, when i first went on it, although im waiting to find a better one at the moment, and its a bit complicated, but it made a massive difference and im really missing it
Prozac. Jeez ive tried so many antidepressants with varying levels of sucking up the side effects, but this one has really really helped and hasnt zapped my libido or orgasms at all
A dog. Finally, someone in the house who actually wants to please me.

MummyJ12 · 26/08/2021 09:57

A Quooker hot tap.
IPL
Getting a cleaner Smile
Yep. I’m lazy and can’t be bothered to put the kettle on/shave/clean the house…!

BippityBoppity87 · 26/08/2021 09:58

Oh meant to add as well, a Karcher window vac. Bought it a few years ago and still going strong. So much easier to clean windows and mirrors

minipie · 26/08/2021 10:00

Marking place to come back and read the rest of the suggestions (I have already ordered tights and added a eufy to my amazon wish list… this is going to get expensive…) here are mine

Rapidbrow - amazingly it works

Automatic cat feeder & water fountain - we can now go away more easily and don’t get woken by hungry cat in the mornings

Mooncup

Large cafetiere, stopped DH and I squabbling over the last cupful in the smaller one

Boiling water tap

Reservoirs for burying in our garden pots - fill them up before going away or in hot spells and there’s no need for daily watering

Small climbing frame for our small garden, DCs have spent hours on it especially in lockdowns

Libby app - I can download books and audiobooks for free from the library. Audiobooks have been a total gamechanger for car journeys

Small second freezer, I can now batch cook

Part baked bread

Munchkin 360 leakproof cups for the DC to have in bed at night

Buying extra of various things that are always in use/in the dishwasher when you need them - kitchen scissors, peeler, charging cables

LovelyIssues · 26/08/2021 10:06

The TOMM app/Facebook group. Housework suddenly seems so much more manageable and it's satisfying ticking everything off

GiantCheeseMonster · 26/08/2021 10:12

Mooncup - wish I’d found this years ago. The environmental benefits are a happy bonus for me. The main thing I love is that it is so much more comfortable than tampons - literally cannot feel it once it’s in - and never leaks. It takes a couple of periods to get the hang of it but it is so worth persisting.

Gousto boxes save me money and time and mean we eat better through the week than we were doing before.

Wype gel for after you’ve had a poo has been a little bit life-changing for me!

godmum56 · 26/08/2021 10:17

yes to kindle, yes to window vac
I get my leggings from Love leggings, really good and all sizes.

godmum56 · 26/08/2021 10:18

oh and water gel crystals mixed in with the soil in all my plant pots....water less often and use less water.

ExConstance · 26/08/2021 10:52

HRT. It has given me my life back, and a better life than I had before!

starlight13 · 26/08/2021 11:01

Two separate hair colour products that I use to colour my hair really simply at home. They give me a lovely base colour with natural highlights and cost less than £8. Saves hours and £££s that would be wasted at the salon and I get lots of compliments too!

Mummyto2rugrats · 26/08/2021 11:25

Unlike Notthatsocial. Marina coil was the opposite for me instead of improving my chronic pain as it has become and my let's bleed past a superglue tampon and a heavy duty pad in 30 min along with depressive moods and lack of sleep due to pain. To suicidal thoughts and continuous daily bleeding with the daily pain still there.

So my game changer to cope with this after receiving no help was Reflexology, never believed it worked but something has changed as now my pain has lessened and periods though still heavy are certainly less heavy

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/08/2021 11:30

Habitat fold down bed chair thing which means I can convert the spare room into an office that looks like one rather than the spare room

DrJohnZoidberg · 26/08/2021 11:51

Silk pillowcase - my hair is so much better

starlight13 · 26/08/2021 11:55

Muslin squares for facial cleansing/washing followed by the Derma V10 collagen wrinkle filler - wow my skin glows and looks better than in my 20s. Both cheap on ebay.

MidsummerMimi · 26/08/2021 12:48

A really good twin pushchair/ stroller.
A multi terrain model with one seat in front of the other.
Travelled all over Wyoming back country, along rocky trails, was able to push fast past bison and bears!!

holidaynearlyover · 26/08/2021 12:51

@CallmeBadJanet I think if mine was an air fryer as well then I might use it more.

I know people rave about the Mac and cheese but I don't like the ingredients list, perhaps I should give it a go it just seems so different and even more unhealthy than the macaroni cheese I make usually.

I just don't find it quick so a tomato pasta sauce I can make in 10 mins, it wouldn't have even got to pressure in that time.

I'll have a look through the book it came with and see if I can gain inspiration- it's an expensive dough warmer 🤣
