To ask for your “game changers”

Things you’ve bought that have essentially changed your life for the better.

For me, it’s a swim dress. Basically a swimming costume with a little skirt that just covers the bikini line. Flattering, hides my stomach and most importantly it doesn’t matter if my bikini line is needing a little attention. It has completely taken the stress out of taking the kids swimming and now we go all the time Smile

Other game changers for me include the perfect prep (🥰), L’Oréal eight-second wonder water, and Pinch of Nom.

Mastering feeding a baby/toddler in the sling - total game changer!

PostMenPatWithACat · 25/08/2021 22:39

Haven't read everything but:

Hot brush
Hive heating app
Excellent knives
Realising kitchen scissors cut herbs/bacon, etc., best
Heat wraps for a bad back

GrandDuchessRomanov · 25/08/2021 22:40

@AndTheReasonIsYou By the way OP If you are after any more swim dresses, check out Studio (the very last place I would have thought of looking!)

I previously bought mine from Joe Brown's and they were quite expensive but I have just taken a gamble on 5 from Studio and I am over the moon with them, fantastic quality, some great designs and the best part?

Currently on sale at £6 each!

stayathomer · 25/08/2021 22:40

Oh and is a few years ago now but changing table- honestly I think they're essential for saving people's backs

PostMenPatWithACat · 25/08/2021 22:43

Ah - during peak menopause, having a single duvet each, different tog, bedspread over the top.

eeek88 · 25/08/2021 22:44

Crossing things off a to-do list if they’re just not that important or urgent.

See also: throwing away entire to-do list.

I get loads done. I’m a ft teacher with hobbies and a social life, so it’s obviously working.

Breville toastie maker

Frozen onion and frozen mash. Life changing

AmazinglyGraceless · 25/08/2021 22:49

I've googled a lot off the back of this thread.

Now my Facebook feed is full of ads for robot vacs, coverless duvets and instant pots 😂

CaveMum · 25/08/2021 22:49

@mafted these are the make up bags mentioned. I’m coveting them myself!

Vitamix blender
Shark cordless hoover
Alexa and smart plugs and smart lights

AliMonkey · 25/08/2021 22:52

split tog duvet - lightweight on my side, heavier on DH's - means we can still share a duvet/bed but both sleep well and no need to compromise on which one to have

Humax box for TV - can record programmes from ITV/C4 etc and then fast forward through adverts - basically like everything being on i-player

Lakeland non-stick baking trays - no need for oil or greaseproof or soaking for hours to get the remnants off

SharpLily · 25/08/2021 22:54
@SharpLily Thank you! Does she work on carpet or just wood/tile etc?
We don't have carpet so I wouldn't like to say, however we do have rugs on tiled floors and she just climbs onto them and continues cleaning quite happily. She only objects to very thin rugs. They have to have a bit of weight to them or she'll just rumple them.

Overnightoats1 · 25/08/2021 22:54

Frozen onions ... haven't chopped an onion since!!!

SlightlyJaded · 25/08/2021 22:56

Boiling water tap - proper gamechanger
Named laundry boxes - clean stuff goes into the boxes. Person takes own box to room and 'unplacks' into drawers
Airpods - I listen to a mixture of podcasts/music/audiobooks whenever I have boring chores to do. Turns it into time doing something I want.
Dog lead with elastic to absorb sudden sharp pulls. DDog will balance a treat on her nose, sit/lie/roll over and do all number of things but she CANNOT walk nicely on a lead. Has saved me from many a shoulder spain.

FancyAnOlive · 25/08/2021 22:58

I second the cheap slazenger boyleg swimming costumes from sports direct and eufy robovacs. But my life changer is transcendental meditation, not least because it led me to stop drinking alcohol which is probably the best thing I have ever done for myself and my kids.

Mcboo5 · 25/08/2021 23:05

@Perching

Marie Kondo Life changing magic of tidying The principle also now extends to my friendships group, activities, what I eat, shopping, saving, it has flicked a switch in my brain.
I too love that book and it absolutely changed how I tidy the house and life in that way but I'm interested - how did it extend to what you eat etc?
AmazinglyGraceless · 25/08/2021 23:15

Those make up bags are fab!

Know what I'm getting both my sisters for Xmas now, thank you!

CallmeBadJanet · 25/08/2021 23:28

@holidaynearlyover If you've got a recipe book that came with it (if not Google instant pot recipes), test out some of the recipes. Making a pasta dish with the pressure cooker facility is so quick. I prep in the morning or the night before, bung it in the pot, set up the programme (mine makes a noise like a nuclear warhead being activated), then walk to the fridge and get the wine out. Grin Instant Pot Mac 'n Cheese is epic! Mine also has an air fryer so I air fry everything, meat, sausages, burgers, veggie sausage/burgers, vegetables, potatoes, blah, blah. Still a bit trial and error, but it has literally changed my life. Have fun experimenting.Wink

Hammock for the garden. And relax.

CallmeBadJanet · 25/08/2021 23:39

@CanIPleaseHaveOne Any ones you like Wink I think I've got a Rimmel Kate no 8 or something, it's a pink colour that suits me. Mind you somebody else might think it looks shite. Also being menopausal is a lifechanger, don't give a shizz what other people I look like any more Grin

HellonHeels · 25/08/2021 23:39
