Things you’ve bought that have essentially changed your life for the better.

For me, it’s a swim dress. Basically a swimming costume with a little skirt that just covers the bikini line. Flattering, hides my stomach and most importantly it doesn’t matter if my bikini line is needing a little attention. It has completely taken the stress out of taking the kids swimming and now we go all the time Smile

Other game changers for me include the perfect prep (🥰), L’Oréal eight-second wonder water, and Pinch of Nom.

Two 4 foot 6 beds next to each other to make 9 foot bed. A whole double bed of your own to sleep in.

Disneycharacter · 25/08/2021 21:51

Alexa and smart plugs. It's like having a clever servant

Tumble dryer

@LH1987 I use Vital Proteins. It's fab. I'm in the US though, but I think it's a global brand? I just add it to water and sip it through the evening.

@Daisy829

Love those make up bags. Think I’ll be buying them as gifts for all my friends
Which make up bags please Smile
abw94 · 25/08/2021 22:02

Chilly Bottle.

I only drink water cold and I drink a lot of it throughout the day. I probably use it more than my phone and never parted from it!

Applesarenice · 25/08/2021 22:03

And tropic gradual tanner!!

mommybear1 · 25/08/2021 22:04

Lots of dehumidifier recommendations on here - any links for models/makes please I had one that was utterly useless.

CatCup · 25/08/2021 22:05

Heated mattress topper.

Soup maker - We never seem to finish the veg we buy so now instead of throwing it out I can throw it all in the soup maker and 20 minutes later we have soup!

Collagen powder - I've been experiencing hair loss for years and my nails were really weak and peeling and breaking really easily earlier this year. No supplements were doing the trick until I got collagen. Just a spoonful in my coffee every day has made a massive difference to my hair loss (not falling out anymore) and my nails are back to normal with no more breaking.

Atomic Habits book by James Clear - some great tips for getting more done in the day and better use of my time.

Which collagen powder do you use? And doesn’t it make your coffee taste funny?

Just a warning about robot lawnmowers- the DD of a friend of ours had her fingers chopped up by a robot lawnmower that she had gone to investigate. The mechanism didn't stop when it should have. It took 8 hours of surgery to repair her hand.

For me, the coil has been a lifechanger - no periods, other than a bit of spotting, in ten years.

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 25/08/2021 22:13

Simply Cook spice boxes. I love cooking but struggle to get my spicy foods to sing and these have really jazzed up out meals.

DanceItOut · 25/08/2021 22:15

Swim dresses are one of mine too.

Menstrual cup is another 9 years of not having purchased a single tampon or pad and being able to empty it once in the morning and once in the evening rather than every few hours.

Smart bulbs and plugs with alexa. Means whenever I leave the house and just know the kids forgot to turn something off I can just say alexa kids room off and it turns off everything in it.

Kindle keyboard which I believe is the kindle 3 from back in 2007 I got it secondhand in 2008 because with a baby I had less space for books. Now I still do prefer a real book but after all these years I have enjoyed many many books on my kindle and made reading on the go easier too as I’m always reading at least 2-3 books at once. Like a casual chick lit and something more serious and sometimes a nonfiction at the same time so I can switch between books depending what I’m in the mood for. A kindle made that easier since I don’t have to take multiple books with me. I also read really fast so it saves trying to acquire extra books physically when I run out.

Snag tights. Gorgeous colours, lovely quality, and I buy them in autumn, wear all winter, chop the feet off come April ish then wear all summer .... And they come in a size that fits me perfectly. Ranges from size 4 - 30+ .... Also, having a cleaner to come and help once a fortnight - I have the minimum amount of time available and it's the most brilliant thing I've ever spent money on. ... Really a game changer.
I had totally forgotten you can chop the feet off tights. I used to do this all the time when younger. I love Snag tights too and have a couple of pairs with holes in the feet I was going to bin!

For those of you who have had your life changed by your robotic hoover do you have dogs?

I have a very hairy (but stunningly beautiful) border collie and am constantly hoovering!

Would it really work on dog hair?

BigRedFrog · 25/08/2021 22:21

Robotic lawn mower. I can't imagine pushing a lawn mower around now.
Robotic floor cleaner. I live in a bungalow and all my flooring is wood. I set him going and go about my day while he whizzes round all the rooms, including under the beds.
Mirena coil.
Breville water boiler.

FedNlanders · 25/08/2021 22:23

Dryrobe Grin

bridget33 · 25/08/2021 22:25

Ice machine (never have to buy ice again for my gins!) and a clothes line extendable pole. Also HG mould remover spray - literally the only thing that does the job properly!

stayathomer · 25/08/2021 22:32

Having whatever I need to wear ready the night before
Having kids' shoes at the door the night before
Cetaphil gentle cleanser (face wash) and avene skin recovery cream for roseacea

Yep. I have three big dogs and they are the reason I need Eufy in the first place. She gobbles up the dog hairs as happily as I stuff chocolate and ice-cream. She's a miracle.
WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 25/08/2021 22:34

FabFitFun boxes, I have some beautiful things I just wouldn't have bought myself, like a really nice picnic blanket with a waterproof underside - when I would have made do with a thin blanket or towel. A pretty navy blue frying pan that replaced a ten year old one that had no non-stick left. An anthropology yoga mat that my dd uses to pretend yoga on while I'm working out.

And posh serums and shower gels and the like.

Just lovely things I wouldnt think to buy and they are often really attractive versions of boring items.

GrandDuchessRomanov · 25/08/2021 22:36

@SharpLily Thank you! Does she work on carpet or just wood/tile etc?
