Mysterious soup

This morning I decided to clean out the kitchen cupboards.
In one of the corner base units, I tend to keep a small store of tinned and jar foodstuff.
So, after pulling everything out, including god knows how many random Tupperware lids which have clearly mated and multiplied at the back, I came across a tin of marks and Spencer chicken soup.
Now this has confused me because I never go to M&S and I hate chicken soup.
So, how the heck did it manage to sneak in and hide amongst tins of corned beef and jars of sauce?
There's only me and the dog here!
Now unless the dog has managed to leap over a six foot fence, sneak into my neighbours cupboard and emerge victorious with the tin between his teeth, to leap back over the fence and stash it in my cupboard, then it's a complete mystery!
Help.

Is it old?

Looubylou · 18/08/2021 13:47

Has no one else ever lived with you? What's the expiry/best before? Have you heard any strange noises in the loft?

JumpLeadsForTwo · 18/08/2021 13:47

Were you ill at some point, covid home bound and you had a helpful friend deliver food?

CounsellorTroi · 18/08/2021 13:47

How long have you lived there? Could it have been left by a previous occupant?

Evenstar · 18/08/2021 13:48

Could it have been in the back of the cupboard when you moved in?

Essentialironingwater · 18/08/2021 13:48

Anyone over to stay who might've come armed with tinned goods or pitied your clearly inferior selection of budget supermarket foods?

freelions · 18/08/2021 13:50

Have you ever won a food hamper in a school tombola or raffle?

KezzabellaB · 18/08/2021 13:50

Could you have won it in a tombola or something at some stage and bunged it in the cupboard to deal with later...then forgot?

KezzabellaB · 18/08/2021 13:50

Cross post :)

AlfonsoTheMango · 18/08/2021 13:54

Perhaps it's a sign from a recently deceased loved one, telling you that all is well.

RubyGoat · 18/08/2021 13:56

When is the best before date?

Didactylos · 18/08/2021 13:57

Look further back in the cupboard
you will probably find an ironing board

KittenKong · 18/08/2021 14:00

I have some pate that was sent to me in a hamper (I’m veggie so waiting for my sister to collect it - but Covid...) also some chicken stock cubes that I bought by accident (steamed up glasses in the supermarket - but the picture of the chicken should have been a clue).

From a food hamper? Christmas gift hamper maybe?

KittenKong · 18/08/2021 14:06

Or a purchase made for the harvest festival and forgotten...

Yutes · 18/08/2021 14:07

Did you buy it for a recipe?

KittenKong · 18/08/2021 14:08

Someone else in the house is hiding their stash?

poorbuthappy · 18/08/2021 14:10

Let me know if you find the following:

Folder full of caravan paperwork
DD1's national insurance letter
DD1's moon cup (sensing a theme here)

And yes to the ironing board.

OhGiveUp · 18/08/2021 14:10

Definitely not left by the previous owners.
Expiry date is 07.2022.
I've not found my ironing board in there, nor the iron, which I think is missing forever as it was last seen circa 2012.

Bought it for a recipie you've forgotten about?

TacoSunday · 18/08/2021 14:11

It belongs to the refugee now living in your shed.

[inspired by another post]

AntennaReborn · 18/08/2021 14:11

How long have you lived there? Any chance it could have been left from previous owners and it was so far back in the cupboard you never noticed it?

Do you get your shopping delivered? Could have been added to your shop in error?

OhGiveUp · 18/08/2021 14:13

No, not bought for a recipe....I never shop in M&S even if I had done.
Never had a hamper.
Or overnight guests, apart from the kids and they also dislike chicken soup.
@Poorbuthappy I'll let you know if I find them 😁
