Are you the kind of person to name a plant/car/robot hoover?

Or any other object/household item of choice Grin
I've bought a lovely big plant for my teen's newly decorated bedroom. I've named him Denzel and my children think I've finally gone coco pops Confused
I wouldn't say I love Denzel exactly ok, I do a bit but I'm certainly invested in him and very much hope he'll thrive! I greet him every morning Blush
I'm curious to know if other people are a bit like me, or if a plant's just a plant ...

I name cars, possibly a plant

I think i might name a roomba type thing too if I had one...I might get one and tie it to the bloody dog he sheds so badly.

RocketPanda · 13/08/2021 20:41

I have a peace lily I call Diva because when she gets a teeny tiny bit thirsty she wilts like hot spinach.
A little drink and she's bright and perky again.

StoneofDestiny · 13/08/2021 20:43

No - difficult enough remembering the names of humans

StarryStarrySocks · 13/08/2021 20:43

Yep, my favourite plants have names! Grin

DarkChic · 13/08/2021 20:44

I've named my car Smile

suckingonchillidogs · 13/08/2021 20:45

I have Ramon the Roomba!

dementedma · 13/08/2021 20:46

I took an enormous peace lily that my.mother no longer wanted, into my office. She is called Audrey. As she outgrew her massive pot, I split her and Audrey 2 was born. Next split gave us Seymour and Vera( day Vera Lynn died). They are all due to be split again and are taking over the building! We also have a money plant called Moneypenny and a cactus called Spike

dollophead · 13/08/2021 20:46

My Robovac has a name. He's my favourite child.

firstevernamechange · 13/08/2021 20:46

I name everything. When I bought a company stamp, I named it Renate. If you guess my nationality, you win 10 points.

RocketPanda · 13/08/2021 20:47

My footstool is called Shaun. One of my dc used to call it that when they were little ( pretty sure they mixed up the word somehow). It's definitely a Shaun and not a Sean though.

Sparklesocks · 13/08/2021 20:47

Yes. My Peugeot is named Peggy.

ExpressDelivery · 13/08/2021 20:48

No, not a plant or a car, but the robovac has a name and is definitely one of the family Smile

luckylavender · 13/08/2021 20:48

God no

SilverGlitterBaubles · 13/08/2021 20:49

Our cars have names Blush

RocketPanda · 13/08/2021 20:49

@dementedma they do love a good pot change. Does Audrey OG cope ok being split?

TitilatedOcelot · 13/08/2021 20:50

I used to have a spider plant called Frank and a pretty trailing houseplant called Mavis. Haven't had houseplants for years, but think I might get some more - they will have names.

Ruthietuthie · 13/08/2021 20:51

Car is called Aubrey, Robovac is Robert. My son frequently thanks Robert for all his hard work. He really is the hardest working member of the family! (Long-haired dog, so he is constantly on the go).

AlwaysLatte · 13/08/2021 20:52

No, I don't name anything inanimate! But I don't think it's odd of others do. Our decorator names everything, it's funny but he takes care of his things so maybe that's part of it!

Poochnewbie · 13/08/2021 20:53

Yep! I just bought some plants from a website where they’re already named. I have a theodora, a Chris, a Rapunzel and a Bertie.

Wrenna · 13/08/2021 20:53

I named my sourdough starter Nigel.

meadowbleu · 13/08/2021 20:53

We once had a car we referred to as Stanley because that's what was etched on its lights. We also had a car named The Boss because it was the first talking sat nav car we had and we used to talk back to it saying 'you're not the boss of me' and drive another route to make it think about what it'd done (and reconfigure)

We did name the lawnmower but I've forgotten what we called it and am probably going to lie awake tonight until I remember Confused

I'd completely put it out of my mind that we have a peace lily we call Granddad because we inherited it from an office colleague who said it'd outgrown his flat. He'd inherited it from an elderly relative. It does the diva thing too.

popebenedictsp45 · 13/08/2021 20:54

No. People who name their cars give me a “I’m mad, me!” vibe.

Prettyconfused · 13/08/2021 20:54

My car, robot lawnmower and robot hoover have names. Not the plants, though I do talk to them, they’re good listeners.

HalleLouja · 13/08/2021 20:56

Our robot mower is called Freddie the Flymo. My husband keeps calling him Phyllis but he knows nothing.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 13/08/2021 20:57

I have Bob the Bonsai, who is unfortunately dying as Ds decided to replace his soil and his roots have started to rot.
