To let the kids go 36 hours in same PJs when I'm ill

Is that gross?

Kids came back from exH's on Saturday with COVID after Ex contracted it.

I tested positive by Monday evening, been fine until about 11pm last night when I felt absolutely floored. Aching muscles mainly but also fever, dizziness and bad cough. Nothing to be alarmed about but I reckon I got one hour of sleep as a result and so when the kids woke at 7am I just made a bed on the sofa and spent the day being horizontal. As long as I was laid down I was fine! I'm still on the sofa.

The only things I've had the strength to do are:
-Go on my phone/sort TV/anything easy I can do with a handheld thing lying down
-Made the kids cereal for breakfast, followed by sandwiches for lunch then I gave up the ghost and got Domino's ordered for dinner.
-Go to the loo
-Put the kids to bed (they are 5 and 9 so this was essentially tucking in and kiss goodnight)

So I didn't change the kids out their PJs all day. They've gone to bed in the same PJs they had on last night - they're well able to change themselves and when I asked them to they farted about upstairs for 20 minutes and came down saying "we can't find the clothes we want" 🙄in no mood to argue, I said fine stay in those. Same tonight, they like the PJs they're in and said they couldn't find any others (I do need to do a washing load so they could be telling the truth, again I'm too ill to care)

Is this what everyone else would do or am I gonna wake with a pair of mutant children with incurable skin disease Grin

It's fine. Give yourself a break. Hope you feel better soon.

Keepitonthedownlow · 11/08/2021 22:03

Sounds like Xmas tbh 😅

HelloDulling · 11/08/2021 22:04

Oh, poor poor you. They’ll be fine. You can scrape the fungus off them in a couple of days when you feel better.

monkeysox · 11/08/2021 22:04

Of course it's fine.

lannistunut · 11/08/2021 22:05

Confused completely fine

Get well soon!

EmbarrassingMama · 11/08/2021 22:05

It’s fine! They will be fine. They are probably enjoying being let off the hook if anything. Pyjamas and pizza? Win!

Look after yourself and get better soon!

I literally came on to say my kids spent 3/4 days in their Xmas pj’s and oodies 😂
muffindays · 11/08/2021 22:05

Honestly, it's not that bad. Don't worry.

FreakinFrankNFurter · 11/08/2021 22:06

It's fine, they"re not going to die from manky PJ disease Grin

Hope you feel better soon op Flowers

Caffeinemonster · 11/08/2021 22:06

YABU for asking the question. Give yourself a break!

Hope you feel better soon.

drspouse · 11/08/2021 22:07

Of course they will be fine.
In your situation I'd use turning the TV off as a bribe to get them to change.

RefuseTheLies · 11/08/2021 22:07

You do what you've got to do to get through it. Last time I was unwell, my 5 year old got put in bed beside me with her tablet. She watched it for 5 hours whilst i slept and got up to be sick.

Jumpingintosummer · 11/08/2021 22:07

Change the word child to teenager… DD had a shower and put in clean Pj’s after the gym at 9.30am yesterday. She had a movie day and sleepover with friend. Both crawled out of bed at 3pm today, made pancakes and phoned pizza Confused. She finally ran a bath when her friend left at 8pm tonight so just another day for a teenager!

Cut yourself some slack and rest up.

Butterflymosaic · 11/08/2021 22:09

You are doing your absolute best, they will be loving the pj days. Hope you feel better soon xx

MrsPumpkinSeed · 11/08/2021 22:09

Totally fine FlowersBrew

MyFloorIsLava · 11/08/2021 22:10

My 4yo has just been prised out of his favourite new tshirt that he was in for about 48 hours, and I only managed that by putting him in the bath. It wasn't even that grim except where he rubbed banana on his shoulder this afternoon. 36 hours in pjs for young, non sweaty kids is absolutely fine. Hope you get some rest and feel better soon.

NorthernChinchilla · 11/08/2021 22:11

When we all got Covid there were a couple of days when all we ate was crisps, as we weren't capable of anything else!

Smartiepants79 · 11/08/2021 22:12

Well it’s fine of course but at that age they can change themselves surely??
They’re not babies and can dress themselves?

Notimeforaname · 11/08/2021 22:18

Ah Frangi!sorry you ended up getting covid from that prick! Rest up, the kids will live!!😃 Hope you feel well soon!!

MyFloorIsLava · 11/08/2021 22:18

Just as you are, presumably, able to read the OP properly and chose not to, the OP has indeed confirmed that the children are able to dress themselves and chose not to.
Lysianthus · 11/08/2021 22:19

Oh dear, your shit exh has a lot to answer for. But don’t beat yourself up about pjs. Hope you feel better soon 💐

Why? What has he done that's so bad?
Wineat5isfine · 11/08/2021 22:27

They’re alive and fed, so you’re doing a great job!

Tell them to shower in the morning and don’t worry.

Hope you’re better soon 💐

Spongeboob · 11/08/2021 23:02

9 year old can shower and find fresh clothes unsupervised and also can find fresh clothes and direct 5 year old into them. Don't worry about it. Take care of yourself Thanks

ThorsLeftNut · 11/08/2021 23:06

I don’t understand why it would be an issue?

Or is this like the mumsnet sin of not washing your bedding twice a week, having labelled towels and hating your MIL? Grin
