We've just got a tabby kitten and was looking at our local pet shops website and saw it said:

'Whether you have a superb Persian Princess or an ugly old tabby...'

AIBU to be upset and want to say it should be changed?

The word ugly just seems so unnecessary and unkind especially when comparing it to an expensive breed.

I'd take a Tabby over a Persian any day. Gorgeous cats.

Tabbies are not ugly. Not sure what planet she lives on.

It's just marketing speak, saying no matter what kind of cat you have. It doesn't say all tabbys are ugly, if says a ugly old tabby so yes YABU.

Annoyed or offended. Annoyed makes sense, lots of things Amoy lots of people. Offended is OTT. If you are offended at this, how do you get through the day.

YANBU at all. I love the fact that there are those of us prepared to stand up for the honour of our tabby cats. I have a very large tabby and white cat, built on a heroic scale, with a very fetching half white, half tabby face. Most people wouldn’t look at him twice but he’s very intelligent and vocal and makes me laugh every day.

This is some sort of discrimination to be honest. I'd be emailing the shop. It's always better to put these things into writing.

That's mean. Tabby's are beautiful, much nicer looking that Persians.

Reminds me of when I got the documents through for my pet insurance. The animals were listed as Dog 1 - breed, West Highland Terrier, Dog 2 - breed, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cat 1 - breed, Moggy. MOGGY! Thankfully my cat can't read so wasn't too upset.
