To be upset/offended by this?

We've just got a tabby kitten and was looking at our local pet shops website and saw it said:

'Whether you have a superb Persian Princess or an ugly old tabby...'

AIBU to be upset and want to say it should be changed?

The word ugly just seems so unnecessary and unkind especially when comparing it to an expensive breed.

Tabbies are the prettiest cats of all. Like tiny tigers. But YABU to be offended on behalf of a cat whose feelings will not be hurt by the marketing speak of a more human.

That's rude. And tabbies are gorgeous, so in addition to rude, it's also bollocks to say they are ugly.

Persians are gorgeous too, but to promote them by berating a tabby cat is pathetic.

I think it's possible for any breed of cat to become old and ugly (including tabbies) so the statement wouldn't bother me. But then, I quite like an ugly old cat.

I have yet to see an ugly 'old' cat.

Bit mean to pick on tabbies, also just cos you’re old doesn’t make you ugly - but I wouldn’t be too offended. Just bad writing.

I'm so confused how so many of you think it is saying ALL tabbies are ugly. It's saying if you happen to HAVE an old, ugly one (and yes it IS possible for even a tabby to become old and ugly).

Well fortunately for them cats can’t read so none of our feline friends are going to understand and be offended by this sign.
As for humans being offended by it, I wish my life was so simple and uncomplicated that I had time to give this sign any thought.

I am not offended by it. I just think it's stupid.

How rude. Tabby cats are so sweet and very pretty. Not ugly at all especially not that gorgeous kitten OP! How lovely he is

They did not need to add ugly to the sentence. You don’t call people’s pets ugly, even if they are. especially if you’re trying to sell them something.

That would put me right off the shop! And I've never ever seen an ugly cat, they're all drop dead gorgeous.

I was going to say YABU but then I remembered how affronted I was when the vet wrote his colour down as brown when he's is clearly golden. So yeah I dunno 😂
