To be upset/offended by this?

We've just got a tabby kitten and was looking at our local pet shops website and saw it said:

'Whether you have a superb Persian Princess or an ugly old tabby...'

AIBU to be upset and want to say it should be changed?

The word ugly just seems so unnecessary and unkind especially when comparing it to an expensive breed.

They're not saying tabbies are ugly. They're saying if you happen to have one that is!

But even if they weren't, I would struggle to be offended on my cat's behalf and I love my cat to pieces

I have never seen an ugly tabby. And I'm looking at three of them now.

No cats are ugly.

I think there is a lot of snobbery around pets actually. The cattery I use only posts pictures of its pedigree cats and dogs, I never see my ancient tortoiseshell on there or the other lovely black or none-breed cats.

Tabbies are the most gorgeous cats apart from jet black. My first cat was a tabby [I was 3yo), and we currently have a tabby, a ginger and a puma; the tabbies are without doubt the most gentle, kind and patient of all domesticated cats. The best cats to have around children.

It’s probably a bit like Bagpuss, ugly, old and much loved.

YABU to be upset. All cats are adorable. I have a genuinely objectively ugly cat and people say so but it's endearing and I love her so it doesn't bother me one bit

I’m sure your cat is lovely, but the cat doesn’t care what the pet shop owners say. Just move on with your life and don’t sweat the small stuff. I’m sure you have bigger things on your plate?

I wouldn’t be annoyed but I would be astonished at the lack of judgment shown by whoever wrote it. A pet shop - wanting to sell to pet owners. Just why on earth would they write that? ‘Ugly old mutt’ ‘ugly old bruiser’ - maybe.
Makes me think it might be a shop geared towards selling glitzy unnecessary pet accessories kind of seeing pets as fashion accessories ?
