To lock the jackass in (parking thread)

I live in a rural location which is very popular with walkers / bikers / horse riders etc. It's heaving today for some unknown reason as the weather is rubbish!

We have 2 driveways. One which was with the original cottage then a small bit of garden then a second which leads to the additional land we have. The second driveway the forestry commission have a ROW over as the track continues up into the forest. Next to that driveway is a footpath. Both driveways have gates at either end and both say private property/dogs running loose. (Diagram attached - not to scale!)

I have just had a straw delivery and so opened the second driveway gates to let the farmer in and trundled round the back to show him where to put them. He's unloaded and driven off and I've gone to lock the gates back up. Literally as he's driven off and I'm walking down a guy has pulled in the gates and parked up and 3 kids have jumped out and he started unloading their bikes.

I politely ask him to move as he's on private land and he says there are no signs he thought it was a parking spot. I say they are on the gate and it's clearly an enclosed piece of land that is not a parking space and he says he couldn't see them as the gates were open but he'll only be a few minutes. No problem, I say, I'll pop back and shut the gates in 5. Off I toddle.

I have returned and his car is still there and he has gone. He has left a note on the windscreen which says "had to park here no other spaces". I mean WTF?!

WIBU to shut the gates, padlock the fucker in, block the gates with my truck AND then disappear for at least 48 hours?
@EKGEMS nah not his wife and not excusing his behaviour but don't see the point in escalating things and causing someone else stress. Two wrongs don't make a right...but I guess they make interesting thread, which is probably the point
The OP isn't doing anything wrong by locking her gate to keep her things safe.
Any stress the bloke is feeling is cause by himself.

HaveringWavering · 31/07/2021 18:20
@frazzledasarock - the CF car is on the OP’s drive, so it isn’t blocking access for the emergency vehicles. Her landy might be, but as they emergency services don’t have the keys to the Forestry Commission road, they always have to knock at the OP’s door to get her to unlock the gates as she does have the key - so she can move her vehicle if necessary.
OP’s truck was just belt and braces outside the gate behind which CF car has been locked. She’s already moved it. CF car is not on OP’s domestic drive (No 1) it is at the end of the lane leading to OP’s yard and the forestry track (Drive 2). If the CF has decided spitefully to get into a Mexican Standoff with OP, there will actually come a time when CF car is blocking forestry commission access or OP’s own vehicular access to her yard. I wonder if that’s his game?

DrBlackbird · 31/07/2021 18:20

He is so determined not to go ask, isn’t he? Those poor kids. I hope they learn the right lesson from this though… not the entitled one that he’d teach. Hmm

I’m rather jealous of your roast, wish someone would pop out and get me some food

Two wrongs?

Only one as far as I can see. And that is Twatface Parker.

HeReWeGoAgAiN1112 · 31/07/2021 18:23

I’ve done a huge weekly shop and and been to the park for an hour. How are they not back yet? They just have given up 🤷🏻‍♀️

ivykaty44 · 31/07/2021 18:25

perhaps they are camping nearby...?

MeridianB · 31/07/2021 18:26

I think they’ve cycled home and he plans to cycle back on his own later to drive away.

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 31/07/2021 18:33

They must have gone somewhere else surely. It's still light here but it's literally just a forest so they can't possibly still be out there.

Hang tough OP. Lock up for the night .

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 31/07/2021 18:36

This is too funny. What a cheeky Fucker. Maybe he's got picked up and plans to come back tomorrow assuming the gate will be opened again during the day??

Nah, they'll be home and he's trying to make sure you're inconvenienced by his car. A true crazy fucker.
DancesWithTortoises · 31/07/2021 18:38

His penis shrank alarmingly at OP's defiance - a mere woman - and he needs to wait until it's got bigger than a small acorn.

LivingInABuildingSite · 31/07/2021 18:38

So weird to disappear for so long.

When will his car actually be a nuisance for you OP?

Could always post a pic on a local FB group, has anyone lost this car?!

At this point, I'd be phoning 101. I mean, forestry could need access. You will need access. It's been hours and hours. It's ridiculous. Absolutely top class cheeky fuckery!

All he has to do is knock and apologise though.

talesofginza · 31/07/2021 18:40

I occasionally see years-abandoned, rusted old cars out in the countryside, and wonder how they ended up being there.

Now I think I know...

Hang tough OP. Lock up for the night .
She did that at 11am!

If it is you're joined by half of MN! Shamelessly placemarking 🤣
DevonTF · 31/07/2021 18:44

I would be tempted to call 101. Explain when he left his car on your property, that you asked him to remove it. Insurance etc dictates you need to keep your home and yard secure. You are concerned that he has not returned etc. They should be able to trace the owner and call them.

I would also take some pictures and post on some local facebook sites.

KateTheEighth · 31/07/2021 18:44

He's arranged for his wife to come and collect them from another part of the forest

He's either mortified or furious

GreyEyedWitch · 31/07/2021 18:44

Me too @chaosrabbitland

I'm on the edge of my sofa...

I would agree with this too
