To think Laurel Hubbard should not be competing against other women

I know I am going to get ripped apart for this. Smile

I have no problem with the transgender community, that is your life/body and I am not one to judge anyone else, do what makes you happy.

There is something fundamentally wrong about a person who is biologically a man competing against a woman in sport as significant as weightlifting.
I am not taking anything away from women weightlifters, however when competing in that sport, a person who was born a man will always have an unfair advantage over a woman.

I am all for equal rights but it seems political correctness has now put us in a position that we will only consider the equal rights of those in the transgender community. What happens to the equal rights of all the other women who have worked extremely hard to get to the olympics who should be competing against biological women.

There needs to be clearer cut criteria on entrance requirements to every sport, to give every person the equal rights they deserve.

My heart goes out to all the other women competing who I’m sure must be somewhat disheartened about their chances of success now they are competing against a biological man. Sad

I just watched the 4x100m mixed sex Medley.

In the first length there were 4 biological males against 4 biological women. The men were all massively ahead. You only have to look at their bodies to see the difference in musculature. However hard those men think they're women, their bodies remain superior in terms of swimming.

Anyone who thinks Hubbard competing against women is fair should have to watch that race over and over.

There's no point to women's sport at all if Hubbard and other XY are allowed to compete with the XX. None at all.

I am keeping my daughters away from sport altogether (except for fun) because of this. What's the point? I'm not investing massively in them getting to competitive levels just for them to be beaten by boys.

RaindropsOnRosie · 31/07/2021 19:46

@Jorriss

Meh, I'm going to ignore the mediocre males who are stomping over this thread trying to derail it. No point in wasting energy engaging with them.
I agree with you for once
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 31/07/2021 19:46
Hmm

That makes perfect sense.

CaveMum · 31/07/2021 19:46

It may be the Olympics and 99% of us will never get that far but there is a trickle down effect - how many Olympians have talked about being inspired to try a sport after watching an Olympics as a child/young person? If young girls are going to watch mediocre males taking over women’s sport at the higher levels they are just going to think “why should I bother trying if there’s no hope of becoming the best?”.

You then lose all grass roots participation of young girls translating into a dearth of talent at the upper levels. This results in a lost generation of sportswomen and the cycle becomes self fulfilling as with no women at the upper levels there is no one to inspire the next generation.

To make an impact at the top level of sport takes years. If you watch the recent BBC documentary “Gold Rush” it talks about how UK Sport made dramatic changes to the way athletes are selected and trained following Team GB’s abysmal showing at Atlanta 1996 where we finished 36th with just 1 Gold to our name. The changes they put in place took years to have an impact, probably Beijing in 2008 was where we started to see the real benefits - that’s 12 years!

The impact on women’s sport of allowing mediocre males to compete and deprive women of medals and places could be felt for decades unless we stop it now.

RedDogsBeg · 31/07/2021 19:46

Aw thank you! Laurel is a woman and she can compete in women's sport like every other woman. Good, excellent.

Laurel is NOT a woman.

Now if you could just stop making up little conversations with me in your head I would be less creeped out and concerned about you

I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about, I'm merely making observations on what you post, your own words.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 31/07/2021 19:47

I think the BBC will be in a quandary about how to cover it. On the one hand BBC are 100% TWAW but on the other hand even they csnt ignore the obvious male advantage

RaindropsOnRosie · 31/07/2021 19:48

Incorrect. Go educate yourself. Bigot.

Right back at you hun x

We need to turn this round for our girls so that they still have female sport. Not let men take it away from them.

She is though.

You're pretending I've said things I haven't said. Either you're in my brain jumbling up the words in my head or you're just pretending I'm saying the things you want to hear to support your agenda.

Jorriss · 31/07/2021 19:50

I'm sure they've already figured out how they're going to play it down.

erinaceus · 31/07/2021 19:51

@Blibbyblobby Thanks. I was being a bit tongue in cheek about the cellular level dysphoria. I am trying to imagine a transgender biochemist, presumably there is such a thing.

I guess it’s somehow analogous to seeing sex as equivalent to race. There are long arguments about the genetics of ethnicity and the conclusion is generally that differences exist between races, and there are not clear lines delineating different races. So if you see sex as somehow something that humans have erroneously classified ourselves based on, then, yes, I can see how overriding that might make one feel ‘woke’.

hahahayoumustbejoking · 31/07/2021 19:52

Deeply depressing. I fear this is just the start.

Erasing women is happening

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 31/07/2021 19:54

I think the BBC will be in a quandary about how to cover it. On the one hand BBC are 100% TWAW but on the other hand even they csnt ignore the obvious male advantage

Are you really sure about that?

Jorriss · 31/07/2021 19:56

They definitely will ignore the male advantage.

lifehappened · 31/07/2021 19:56

I can't stand some of the shit that is said on that other board and am very happy it's now separate but this is different to most of the offensive shit they post. It isn't fair and I completely agree with that. But then some pricks come on saying delete the word "other" and that reminds @mnhq why they split your lot off to your own board. They can identify as whatever the fuck they want, yes competing in sport with that gender makes no sense and it needs addressing but there's no need to misgender them just to get your kick in as per usual!!!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 31/07/2021 19:57

Good point Empress - I should never underestimate the BBC on this issue

RedDogsBeg · 31/07/2021 19:58

But that was a really good attempt at whatever it was you were trying to do

The only thing I'm doing is exposing your argument for what it is. You are happy to watch women's sports decimated by including males who claim to feel like women into them, I am not and 98% of the people who voted on this thread aren't either.

Sports are segregated by sex to ensure a level playing field and fair competition for participants.

Paralympic sports are segregated from able bodied sports to allow p a level playing field and fair competition for participants.

Doping and performance enhancers are banned from sports to allow a level playing field and fair competition for participants.

It's all very simple and straightforward. Allowing LH to compete against women undermines the sex segregation and principles of fair and equal competition, the fact this is only happening to women's sports shows exactly the misogyny and women hating at the core of this.

Jorriss · 31/07/2021 19:59

but there's no need to misgender them just to get your kick in as per usual!!!

What you think we should ignore the obvious truth in front of us? Why?

Jorriss · 31/07/2021 20:01

The only thing I'm doing is exposing your argument for what it is. You are happy to watch women's sports decimated by including males who claim to feel like women into them, I am not and 98% of the people who voted on this thread aren't either.

And the good thing about this is that more and more people that lurk get to see what is really happening here. ☀️

Shakespeare79 · 31/07/2021 20:01

@RaindropsOnRosie
Before I just start ignoring your nonsense, no, ‘spouting shit’ doesn’t necessarily mean ‘lying’, does it? It means that the arguments/theories you are putting forward are weak/nonsense. Let’s try this: see if you can answer these questions in any sort of convincing way:

  1. Do you think that there is a sound reason to have separate women’s and men’s sports? (Yes or no)
  2. If you answered ‘yes’, now try to explain why a biological man should be allowed to compete in the WOMEN’S sport. (If you answered ‘no’ to the first question, don’t bother, of course, because you are unqualified to continue.)

That’s probably enough for now.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 31/07/2021 20:02

Sorry no nuance is allowed thems the rules! (As set by stonewall) If you don’t 100% agree TWAW at all times and for all purposes including sport then you’re a transphobic bigot

It also amuses me that a biological male cheats a woman out of a place in the olympics and yet we’re apparently worse ppl for ‘misgendering’ them

I used to have a crew cut; My sisters new BF saw a photo of me from the back & asked who that boy was. Strangely I’ve managed to get over the total trauma of someone misgendering me…

RedDogsBeg · 31/07/2021 20:04

She is though.

No, LH is male.

You're pretending I've said things I haven't said. Either you're in my brain jumbling up the words in my head or you're just pretending I'm saying the things you want to hear to support your agenda.

No, I'm not, I am reading what you are saying.

lifehappened · 31/07/2021 20:04

Hmmmm who said you're worse? Nope not me, I acknowledged both equally so perhaps you also misread. It happens, no biggy

jacks11 · 31/07/2021 20:06

Agree. The advantage to that athlete having been through male puberty is huge in terms of muscle mass and strength- regardless of any subsequent hormone therapy. It is an unfair advantage and I don’t think should be allowed. It just isn’t in the spirit of sportsmanship.

LostDonkey · 31/07/2021 20:07

@Greyrootszerohoots

What would the IOC do if a 35 year old male boxer transitioned and entered into female boxing a few years later?
See Fallon Fox, an MMA fighter who didn't disclose the fact they were a transwoman before

And Tamikka Brents. also unaware that she was entering the ring with a transwoman, got a concussion and a fractured skull after fighting Fallon, Tamikka said “I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night…I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life.”
