To think Laurel Hubbard should not be competing against other women

I know I am going to get ripped apart for this. Smile

I have no problem with the transgender community, that is your life/body and I am not one to judge anyone else, do what makes you happy.

There is something fundamentally wrong about a person who is biologically a man competing against a woman in sport as significant as weightlifting.
I am not taking anything away from women weightlifters, however when competing in that sport, a person who was born a man will always have an unfair advantage over a woman.

I am all for equal rights but it seems political correctness has now put us in a position that we will only consider the equal rights of those in the transgender community. What happens to the equal rights of all the other women who have worked extremely hard to get to the olympics who should be competing against biological women.

There needs to be clearer cut criteria on entrance requirements to every sport, to give every person the equal rights they deserve.

My heart goes out to all the other women competing who I’m sure must be somewhat disheartened about their chances of success now they are competing against a biological man. Sad

I think people have forgotten that all sports are games. It's really not that serious.

If the people playing the game think they won't win because someone they're up against is better than them, they don't need to play. If they continue and the better person wins they just need to try harder.

FrippEnos · 31/07/2021 17:45

Also the use of "Cis" mis-genders anyone that that doesn't want to be called "Cis" (or disagrees with it), which by the standards of the TRA lobby is literal violence.

erinaceus · 31/07/2021 17:47

At risk of derailing the thread, something I have been wondering about lately is whether [some of] the trans community believe that there is no need for a word for women as a class. If transwomen are women, so the word woman now encompasses both women and transwomen, does the trans community not see that there is a need for a word for women as distinct from women+transwomen? Do they suppose that we use ciswoman for that purpose? (“Natal females” makes me shudder.)

Not that serious? I wonder if Serena Williams would be a millionaire without tennis. Would Rory McIlroy be working in Macdonald's if he wasn't good at golf? Would Rabbi be in the House of Lords?
People make their living from sport and every woman who loses a place to a male sports person loses their about lity to earn their living doing the thing they live most. Pretty damn serious!

334bu · 31/07/2021 17:50

Rabbi? I meant Tanni

I don't think that post was serious.

Just seen this, in which Dr. Joanna Harper " herself a transsexual woman", says the decision to allow Hubbard to compete may be viewed
as "less than ideal"
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/07/31/top-olympic-advisor-reveals-concerns-trans-women-competing-female
JH's muddle-headed attempts to justify Hubbard's inclusion are illogical and absurd. And as for the other medic waffling on about balancing safety and fairness, how can he not understand that these issues wouldn't exist if men weren't allowed to compete in women's events?

I think you need to try harder at thinking.
BlackeyedSusan · 31/07/2021 17:55

Laurrel Hubbard shouldn't be competing against women as LH is not a woman and is male. You can't change sex.

LH still has the advantages of male puberty, male skeleton, male muscles, male lung capacity, male heart.

FluffyBattleKitten · 31/07/2021 17:56
  • the better male person wins they just need to try harder.

Women, know your place. If a male beats you in the female category it's because you're not *trying" hard enough.

I assume you don't agree with splitting sports into categories at all then? No women's or men's sports, no age classes, no weight classes, no Paralympics. Let's face it, if the people playing the game think they won't win because someone they're up against is better than them, they don't need to play. If they continue and the better person wins they just need to try harder.

With the poor sentence that was given for her car accident, its pretty much the entire card.

I'm praying this is satire. It's so hard to tell.

😂

Well, I might be wrong. It just read to me as the written equivalent of sarcasm without changing the tone of your voice. It's true that the level of pretzel logic and wilful ignorance employed in this debate to turn men into women can make it hard to judge.
CorvusPurpureus · 31/07/2021 18:04

Not satire - regular drive-by plopper.

FrippEnos · 31/07/2021 18:05

And just to add some more high level insult to this.

The judge kept LH's name out of the press so that she could train for Tokyo without more stress.

FluffyBattleKitten · 31/07/2021 18:07

Rosie regularly posts like that.
Unless they lost a bet, I believe it's in earnest.

And yes, such a good move for a country with an obesity problem. Deem sports not worthy of being taken seriously.

This is exactly the case.

Under the current gender ideology orthodoxy (which is not necessarily what all, or even most, trans people actually believe but is the loudest voice right now), Woman is a mixed sex term covering trans women and so-called cis women, but excluding trans men, agender female people and non-binary female people.

In this ideology there is no word for adult human females - the group of people formerly known as women and the ones all this "women" stuff like women's sports, women's prisons. women's refuges and so on were actually set up for - because under the ideology there is no significant thing that they have in common that would justify them having a collective name or political voice.

It's a slap in the face, it would be good if they refused to compete tbh but can see why they would be hesitant.

Oh, OK.

Either way, though, not a serious post.
