To think Laurel Hubbard should not be competing against other women

I know I am going to get ripped apart for this. Smile

I have no problem with the transgender community, that is your life/body and I am not one to judge anyone else, do what makes you happy.

There is something fundamentally wrong about a person who is biologically a man competing against a woman in sport as significant as weightlifting.
I am not taking anything away from women weightlifters, however when competing in that sport, a person who was born a man will always have an unfair advantage over a woman.

I am all for equal rights but it seems political correctness has now put us in a position that we will only consider the equal rights of those in the transgender community. What happens to the equal rights of all the other women who have worked extremely hard to get to the olympics who should be competing against biological women.

There needs to be clearer cut criteria on entrance requirements to every sport, to give every person the equal rights they deserve.

My heart goes out to all the other women competing who I’m sure must be somewhat disheartened about their chances of success now they are competing against a biological man. Sad

notagermannoun NZ women just won gold in Rugby 7s and they were amazing.

NZ don't need to include males in the female teams they're good enough on their own strengths, it casts a shadow on women's weight lifting and on the NZ team.

notagermannoun · 31/07/2021 13:39

A voice we don't hear much is Renee Richards, who fought to be included in the professional female tennis game while in his late thirties, who did have some success despite a lot of protest and opposition. Richards now freely admits that he would have wiped the floor with his female opponents had he been in his early twenties. The fact that Hubbard is 43 and in serious contention for an Olympic gold is the most ludicrous aspect of all of this. A woman of 43 would already be experiencing the loss of muscle mass and possibly bone density,.

CaveMum · 31/07/2021 13:40

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit

I had no idea such a high percentage of trans women kept their male bits, why would you do that?
Because they are AGP (get a sexual thrill out of dressing/pretending to be a woman) and do not suffer from actual gender dysphoria.
SteppedOnBloodyLego · 31/07/2021 13:40

@TalkingOutYerArse
Yes, “transphobia”
It was expected.
Women need to get waaaay louder.

Helmetbymidnight · 31/07/2021 13:40

The important thing is to speak out or to support those who speak out if you can't...

We have here an ideology that insists males are females if they want. This is untrue and unfair.
Males who want to live as women (whatever that means) and women who want to live as men (ditto) should do so, in peace and with love, but they have not changed sex - and they are not entitled to women's sex-based rights, protections and sports.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 31/07/2021 13:42

@Jorriss

I don't think body shaming anyone is going to help.

I think that's the least of laurels worries...

Quite.

And I think the point is that when mediocre men with mediocre flabby bodies get to compete against women, it makes a mockery of men's and women's sports.

A body like this would get laughed out of men's cycling events.

Sheer laziness. Ach I'll just compete against the lassies where I don't have to try so hard.

It's bizarre he's a man if I drew a beard on tomorrow I'm still a woman. Women can't have anything these days.

Jorriss · 31/07/2021 13:44

And I think the point is that when mediocre men with mediocre flabby bodies get to compete against women, it makes a mockery of men's and women's sports

Yes. A fair point indeed.

Wheretobuy · 31/07/2021 13:44

The Change.org petition is not working at all.

CaveMum · 31/07/2021 13:46

Agree that the way we stop this is to keep on speaking (shouting) out and drawing attention to it. I spoke to a colleague at work on Thursday, we were discussing the nonsense about female athletes’ clothing and why women are expected to display as much flesh as possible and I added “Don’t even get me started on Laurel Hubbard!”. Her blank expression was just the excuse I needed to set her on the way to Peak Town Wink

andyoldlabour · 31/07/2021 13:46

BoreOfWhabylon

I think Change.org have taken the petition down, because clicking on the link simply brings up a blank screen.

Wheretobuy · 31/07/2021 13:46

I suggest we write to MPs as well. It’s against the rights of women British athletes who have worked so hard to get where they are. Abs it’s most certainly a mockery of all the hard working men who are competing fair and square, in their own category.

SteppedOnBloodyLego · 31/07/2021 13:46

@Wheretobuy

The Change.org petition is not working at all.
It was deleted by Change. We are being told to shut up.
HermioneKipper · 31/07/2021 13:48

@NashvilleQueen

I hope she wins gold. I hope she smashes every record going for women. Lifts twice as much as the next closest.

Then the world can see what an absolute travesty it is for women's sport.

THIS!
Wheretobuy · 31/07/2021 13:48

In that case @SteppedOnBloodyLego, we need to write to our MPs a complaint about Change.org too. The sheer cheek of it!

beastlyslumber · 31/07/2021 13:50

YANBU. It is totally unfair. The women who worked so fucking hard to achieve olympic standard are basically just being mocked and told to stand aside because some fat bloke wants to be the best.

What's mad is that no one in their right mind supports it, and yet it's being allowed to happen right before our eyes and we are told to behave as though it's completely fine!

Jorriss · 31/07/2021 13:51

It has been taken down. Too many of these activist types working in tec. This needs to change.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 31/07/2021 13:51

98% is pretty fucking overwhelming

bellinisurge · 31/07/2021 13:51

He still has his dick. Have you seen the photos.

Jorriss · 31/07/2021 13:51

beastlyslumber nailed it.

Clarice99 · 31/07/2021 13:52

And I think the point is that when mediocre men with mediocre flabby bodies get to compete against women, it makes a mockery of men's and women's sports.

Excellent points.

I didn't read the beer gut comment as 'body shaming', but saw it more around the points made above.

It's fact that LH is flabby and overweight. LH would not be able to compete against his own biological sex and get anywhere. LH doesn't have to try as hard as the biological women he's competing against simply because his biology gives him significant advantages.

Cheating. Plain and simple. Who'd want to live with such hollow victory?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 31/07/2021 13:54

@Kalvinette

What are we going to do about this?
One of the things we can do is not give an inch and push back on everything. No pronouns in emails, no TW in groups for women, crossing out gender and replacing it with sex on forms of sex is what they mean, calling it out everytime an official document or policy incorrectly lists gender as a protected characteristic under the Equality Act

Being kind and accommodating is how we got in this mess. We can’t do it anymore

SteppedOnBloodyLego · 31/07/2021 13:54

@Wheretobuy

In that case *@SteppedOnBloodyLego*, we need to write to our MPs a complaint about Change.org too. The sheer cheek of it!
I dont think there’s any point. We have Labour MP.

Haven’t you heard of MP Rosie Duffield?

RedDogsBeg · 31/07/2021 13:54

Laurel Hubbard should not be competing in the Women's category, nor should any of the other TW athletes that are competing against women in this Olympics, nor should the TW be competing against women in the Paralympics, nor should athletes with DSDs which are only found in the male sex be competing against women.

There is nothing brave and stunning about this it is no more than a Cheats Charter introduced by the IOC and surprise, surprise the committee that recommended this is totally male.

This is ALL about men and those who support the decimation of women's sports are equally showing that they care nothing for women they only care about men.

Any medals won by TW at these games will be as devalued as those ones won in previous games by athletes who were doping.

bellinisurge · 31/07/2021 13:56

Women's sport is not a retirement plan for mediocre men.
