White bedding does not look like a hospital bed!

I’ve always had coloured bedding, turquoise and teal usually the colour of choice. I moved in to my new house a few months ago. I thought to myself now the kids are older, I’ll get some nice grown up bedding in white. I made the bed today, lay down thinking -getting Egyptian cotton instead of the usual poly cotton really makes a difference. My 12 year old walks in and says - ‘that looks like a hospital bed all that white’Shock I said- oh don’t you think it cleans clean? Yeah, if your in hospital!! Please tell me I am not alone in liking my new white bedding?

I love white bedding ! It reminds me of a high class hotel, not a hospital , lol.

Changechangychange · 26/07/2021 00:31

Your DC has obviously not been in many hospitals! Baby blue or pastel green woven cotton blankets say “hospital” to me. And sheets with either “Sunlight” or “Property of UHN hospitals” stamped all over them. Not plain white sheets!

Changechangychange · 26/07/2021 00:33

This basically

White bedding does not look like a hospital bed!
NotMyCat · 26/07/2021 00:41

@Changechangychange that made me laugh - for some reason I actually had a giant flat white sheet that was tagged as sunlight, it came from my mum who can't remember where it was from. Anyway it was the most cool, comfy sheet ever and I've lost the damn thing
Reckon if I search hospital sheets on eBay I can find one? Grin

Nsky · 26/07/2021 00:44

Fine, I think it’s cold, I prefer cream, cat doesn’t help tho

Dreamstate · 26/07/2021 00:50

I love my white bedding, splashed out on white company bedding when it was on sale. Makes the room look hotel chic and bright and airy. I have a throw I put at the bottom half to add some different texture to the room and tie the other colour together.

I dont think I could ever go back to coloured sheets etc.

whattodo2019 · 26/07/2021 00:51

Absolutely not!! All our beds have only
white linen. They look divine!!

Dreamstate · 26/07/2021 00:52

Also pretty much all hotels use white bedding for a reason! Your 12yr old needs to spend more time in hotels Grin

rubbletrouble · 26/07/2021 00:53

It's not my cup of tea, it doesn't feel like home to me, it feels like a hotel or a bit too clinical but if it makes you smile and feel good, that's what it's all about.

ZaraW · 26/07/2021 06:47

It's too clinical for me. Would have to add a throw/blanket to make it more interesting.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 26/07/2021 06:51

Another vote for only high quality crisp white bedding OP!
Looks sleek and fabulous and as other posters have said, you can add colour through throws etc

DoctorSnortles · 26/07/2021 07:15

Beautiful white bedding here, too. I like not having to bother with matching colours with curtains etc and it always feels lovely to get into crisply ironed, hotel-style bedding.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 26/07/2021 07:17

Because a 12 year old has great experience of decor and trends Grin

The only issue I have with white linen is keeping it that way. It needs drying in bright sunlight so winter not so great.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 26/07/2021 07:18

I like it, clean and fresh looking.
Just don't put one of those machines that goes 'ping' every few seconds next to your bed.

Lanique · 26/07/2021 07:19

I only have white bed linen. Although thinking about it, all our sets have some small detail on them such as a silver or grey stripe or feint line of embroidered pattern. But the overall effect is white. I love crisp bedding!

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2021 07:22

I only have white high thread count bed linen. I came home from a stay in a hotel and decided that was all I would accept from then on.
It doesn’t remind me of hospitals at all.

thecapitalsunited · 26/07/2021 07:23

I associate white linen with hotel rather than hospital. I love my white sheets and will never buy anything else. It goes with everything and. it washes well so long as you stick to a good powder.

smith5715 · 26/07/2021 07:25

I only have white bedding - I love it. Feels like a hotel! I do have pink cushions and a bed spread thing though for some colour!

LemonRoses · 26/07/2021 07:26

If you want high count, high quality Egyptian Cotton bedding, it tends to be cream or white.
Far, far nicer to sleep in than cheap, gaudy polyester cotton .

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, I worked for Sunlight Industrial Laundry when I left school, I can see the Sunlight stamp as clear as day now you've mentioned it 😉
TeaMeBasil · 26/07/2021 07:28

Love white bedding, I do the same & add a throw or a coloured cushion.

I aim for white company sales too, it is pricey but am so happy with the quality - there's nothing getting into bed on fresh bedding day!

Mandalay246 · 26/07/2021 07:30

I have only white bedding in summer and anything less like a hospital than my bed I've yet to see!

Your 12 year old has no idea of style.

33feethighandrising · 26/07/2021 07:31

When I was selling my house, I looked at pictures other houses being sold on Rightmove for inspiration on how to dress mine for the pictures. I went out and bought white bedding as result as so many had white bedding and it made the bedrooms look airy, fresh and clean. It was a good choice, the pictures looked lovely.

Redcrayons · 26/07/2021 07:31

I only have white bedding. I think luxury 5 star hotel rather than hospital.
