White bedding does not look like a hospital bed!

I’ve always had coloured bedding, turquoise and teal usually the colour of choice. I moved in to my new house a few months ago. I thought to myself now the kids are older, I’ll get some nice grown up bedding in white. I made the bed today, lay down thinking -getting Egyptian cotton instead of the usual poly cotton really makes a difference. My 12 year old walks in and says - ‘that looks like a hospital bed all that white’Shock I said- oh don’t you think it cleans clean? Yeah, if your in hospital!! Please tell me I am not alone in liking my new white bedding?

I wouldn't say hospital but it does feel more hotel-like to me. But as long as you like it, doors it matter?

Another vote for white bed linen. I have white walls too! Silver carpet though and instead of feeling clinical, it's the most restful calming sleep inducing haven!

Fluffyandsilly · 26/07/2021 22:21

Another vote for all white bed linen from me! I love it. I like colour in other areas of my home, but in the bed it’s always crisp white, high thread count 100% cotton sheets.
To me they look classier and more luxury than patterned bed linen. I could probably be persuaded into light coloured sheets, duck egg or similar maybe, but white has the luxury hotel look.

Shame I have a fluffy black cat!

White bedding is beautiful, all I've ever had really. I can tolerate coloured bedspreads but bedding itself should be white. I'm not sure I'd take advice on such things from a child OP! Grin

1000 thread count minimum, you'll never look back believe me.

We spend 1/3 of our lives in bed. More if I had a chance. Worth every penny.

@Laiste

I agree the duvet needs to be a puffy one to help the look of the bed. Lots of pillows or a nice big cushion. I like a big feather duvet which keeps that crunchy new sound. M&S i think my current one is. Wasn't wildly expensive. Compared to a basic weekly shop for eg.

My bedding (and DDs) is one of the few things i push for really good quality for. I'll accept cheap crappy other things but not bedding. You're in bed for such a large portion of your life!

Oh absolutely. A bed without a giant feather duvet (preferably the kind that is two feather duvets clipped together) and feather pillows is not a place I'd be happy to sleep! And then obviously you need the bedspread on top. I have finally found the perfect kind and am buying as many as I can in case on day they stop selling them!

I buy all my bedding from White Company. Never have any other colour. Love white bedding!

I've always had white bed linen. It is classy and clean!

See how that feather duvet is produced and the cruelty involved.
userchange902 · 27/07/2021 15:59

@LadyPoison there are plenty of ethically sourced ones.

AlanThePig · 27/07/2021 17:01

I only buy high thread count white bedding. I do have a coloured throw over the end though.
So easy to just chuck in the wash with a shake of laundry bleach and always looks sparkling.

My nan used to say decent shoes and decent bed and bedding because when you're not in one you're in the other. Can't argue with that!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/07/2021 17:21

White bedding is lovely. Clean and fresh looking.

Personally the thing I absolutely hate is anything cream.

Lampzade · 27/07/2021 17:27

I only have white bedding but also have coloured throws to add some depth to the room

DroopyClematis · 27/07/2021 20:31

Currently in a hotel with a bed , bedecked in white . They have a nasty feel to them as they may well have been boiled or starched.
It clearly has a high thread count as it's quite tight and a bit sweaty.
I'm not too bothered as we're only here for a short while but the bed sticks out like a sore thumb.
The room is tasteful and muted with blues and greys but there's this giant white mass in the room.
There's a silly, pointless throw that just covers the end of the bed and you have to take it off, with the superfluous cushions, in order to get in the bed, and so there's bed stuff all over the floor.

Youdiditanyway · 27/07/2021 20:51

We have a white bedding set, I love it! Definitely doesn’t remind me of hospital.

Scrumbleton · 27/07/2021 21:39

Yanbu
I only have white/cream bedding -either plain or with a touch of embroidery

dudsville · 27/07/2021 21:42

I associate White linen with hotels, and that's nice, but I don't want my bedroom to look like a hotel. We're mid century and colourful here!

Dropdeadfred2 · 27/07/2021 22:11

I love my white bedding. I wouldn't go back to colours or patterns

Dropdeadfred2 · 27/07/2021 22:12

I love it

White linen here.

12 year olds don’t get to have an opinion on interior design.
