To ask if you could move anywhere in the UK, where would it be?

Looking to relocate from Kent and have no idea where to! We’ve looked (online) all over the UK, really love Norfolk but need good transport links and also feeling drawn to Cotswolds / specifically chipping norton area. Where would you go in the UK if you could go anywhere and why?

I live in the Cotswolds and wouldn't live anywhere else. We are close to lots of nice towns, Cirencester, Stroud, Oxford, Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham. All within an hour or so, obviously some much closer.

I have been to Norfolk and it feels very isolated, which I personally do not like. I liked Norwich but it's just so far from anything else!

From the Cotswolds you can get to the coast in two hours, to Cornwall in 3 and easy train links to the capital - takes me 90 minutes as I drive to Swindon and get the fast train that takes an hour.

But surrounding us is beautiful countryside, so many wonderful outdoor things, it's quiet and peaceful. The schools are great too.

How funny I was going to say Cotswolds

McT123 · 25/07/2021 22:34

Chichester Harbour.

StoneofDestiny · 25/07/2021 22:36

Cotswolds beautiful.

EssentialHummus · 25/07/2021 22:38

Into the loft of our building, currently occupied by my neighbour. Sorry OP, bit specific Grin. I love our current home, could just do with a bit more space.

tedsletterofthelaw · 25/07/2021 22:40

Pembrokeshire.

It's beautiful and holds fond childhood memories for me

ZednotZee · 25/07/2021 22:41

I live in Chester. I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Maybe I'd like to be slightly closer to the river but thats about it.

Iwantamarshmallowman · 25/07/2021 22:41

The Isle of white. I also quite like Bristol but I think it might be too trendy for me long term.

harverina · 25/07/2021 22:42

Dumfries and Galloway or Devon

Gertie75 · 25/07/2021 22:43

Shropshire, a beautiful, green county with not too many people, central so it's not a bad journey to go up to the lakes or down to the south west.

FlappityFlippers1 · 25/07/2021 22:44

I live on the Wirral and wouldn’t be anywhere else

VestaTilley · 25/07/2021 22:45

A few high up my list: home to Dorset; a remote part of the Yorkshire Dales; or Near Sawrey, Lake District (specifically Hilltop if only NT would part with it! Grin).

All the above too far for me and DH to commute (a bit) to London, so we’re plumping for Hampshire instead.

FakingMemories · 25/07/2021 22:46

Cornwall

IseeScottishhills · 25/07/2021 22:55

Over the years I’ve lived in many locations in the UK including quite a few mentioned above many are lovely. I now live in Scotland by the sea surrounded my hills I’ve finally found my perfect place there’s nowhere quite like it.

MaMaLa321 · 25/07/2021 22:57

Nantwich. Exeter.

sobercuriouskind · 25/07/2021 22:58

I feel lucky to live in Cheltenham, great schools and close to beautiful countryside. It is expensive though. I like North Devon and would move there if I wasn't leaving my family and friends behind. I also love Edinburgh.

ZednotZee · 25/07/2021 23:00

@FlappityFlippers1

Oh hi neighbour!

I would move to one of your seaside towns, jealous of your beaches. I have an aunt that lives in Wallasey Village!

Roonilwazlib1 · 25/07/2021 23:02

Aww I Love Nantwich, and little Alsager even more.

I'd move to Newlyn Harbour, not the prettiest but I feel so at home there.

Or the Ribble Valley.

Hadenoughofbloodycovid · 25/07/2021 23:08

Scutterbug · 25/07/2021 23:10
