To ask if you could move anywhere in the UK, where would it be?

Looking to relocate from Kent and have no idea where to! We’ve looked (online) all over the UK, really love Norfolk but need good transport links and also feeling drawn to Cotswolds / specifically chipping norton area. Where would you go in the UK if you could go anywhere and why?

2020NewMum there's lots to do. Our kids were never bored and there were things like the Cotswolds that the adults were interested in. We went back on our own in 2018 and had a brilliant time.

LoveMySituation · 26/07/2021 18:07

Liverpool. I feel I'm myself and at home near the water, the river, the boats, the docks, and the comings and goings.

FuzzyPuffling · 26/07/2021 18:10

Yorkshire.
I currently live in Cornwall.

Oh hi neighbour!

I would move to one of your seaside towns, jealous of your beaches. I have an aunt that lives in Wallasey Village![/quote]
@ZednotZee

Hello! I'm south Wirral, but we are thinking of moving West Kirby/Hoylake way to be nearer the beaches

DeadButDelicious · 26/07/2021 18:55

Anywhere along the coast. Particularly the north west. Or north Wales. I have always been very fond of the Colwyn bay/rhos on sea area.

catsjammies · 26/07/2021 21:07

London, just a nicer part than we're in now, and into a bigger house!

jessnoah · 26/07/2021 21:27

From looking at your criteria try Sudbury in Suffolk. Super cheap and we just got rid of our car as we can afford a massive house in the centre of town. Lovely river walks and pubs. We also live by the station (1 hour 10 to Liverpool Street). I also have two young kids and the parks are great too.

Rubyupbeat · 26/07/2021 22:32

An isolated Scottish island for me, please.

senoritarita · 27/07/2021 07:18

Kent doesn't seem over crowded to me? The beaches are busier in the West Country. Sounds like you need somewhere very remote

If you think kent is overcrowded then avoid anywhere touristy

emilylily · 28/07/2021 10:29

@FuzzyPuffling

Yorkshire. I currently live in Cornwall.
Aw I'm jealous, I'd love to live in Cornwall. Do you like it there?
miracle0812 · 21/01/2022 16:46

@Lj8893 did you make the move? I agree! Moved to Chester from Kent last year 🤩

PotatoPie888 · 21/01/2022 16:51

I went to the Cotswolds once and I have never met so many unpleasant people in my life. It may be beautiful to look at but the people are weird

devildeepbluesea · 21/01/2022 16:55

I’ve lived in East London - not bothered, but it was a fun time

Cirencester- bloody loved it there, would go back in a heartbeat

Bristol - liked it, quite edgy and trendy but lots of fun

Swansea Valley - quite deprived but met some fantastic friends, and the countryside is breathtaking

Now back home near Cardiff. Love it. 5mins walk from countryside, 10mins on the train to city centre, 15mins drive to the beach. Not far and good transport to everywhere else in the country.

GreenNewDealNow · 21/01/2022 17:02

Liverpool

Clarinet1 · 21/01/2022 17:16

In my own present situation, if I had a bit more money than I do I would be putting notes through doors in a little
pedestrianised street called Choumert Square in Peckham asking if anyone was looking to sell! It has a lovely, secluded feel with communal gardens besides a small patch
In front of each house and yet is only a short walk from transport. shops and pretty much everything you need.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 21/01/2022 17:19

Richmond, N. Yorkshire

jiskoot · 21/01/2022 17:29

I moved from Kent to North Devon and love it here. Went from middle of a housing estate in a built up town to a house surrounded by countryside, 10 mins away from a town.

miracle0812 · 21/01/2022 18:03

@jiskoot whereabouts in Kent? I left Kent last year been there all my life (33 years) hated it! There are some nice parts but not the town I was in 😂

maddening · 21/01/2022 18:10

Depends what you want from an area.

I live in Cheshire, enjoy the countryside, have easy access to lots of places eg not far from North Wales, hour from Birmingham, London is 1.5 hours on the train, easy access to lake district and peak district, half an hour from Liverpool, 40 mins to Manchester, 40 mins to Chester. Good schools also and all I need day to day locally (but you do need a car).

maddening · 21/01/2022 18:10

But I loved living in edinburgh

LakieLady · 21/01/2022 18:10

Bridport. Nice small town, decent pubs and places to eat, in lovely countryside, not too far from bigger towns when you need serious shopping, and close to the coast.

Beaminster's very nice too, but possibly a bit too posh.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 21/01/2022 18:19

Northumberland

kerstina · 21/01/2022 19:03

I live near to picturesque Bournville and we have lovely parks nearby but I am desperate to move to the coast . I love coastal wales and we had started to look around the Deganwy/ Conwy area but DP had decided doesn't like the expressway and would rather move north Devon , Somerset area . I also wouldn't mind living in Cornwall somewhere like newly north anywhere coastal but not too swamped by holiday makers . I basically love the sea and have had enough of the city .

MumofBoys79 · 21/01/2022 21:22

I'd probably go for the Kent Coast, for the same reasons given by FloralNomad.

Plus, there's some interesting history and places to explore. Think the people seem pretty friendly too.

Chunkymonkey13 · 21/01/2022 21:23

Chester / wirral gets my vote or a close second is Harrogate
