To ask if you could move anywhere in the UK, where would it be?

Looking to relocate from Kent and have no idea where to! We’ve looked (online) all over the UK, really love Norfolk but need good transport links and also feeling drawn to Cotswolds / specifically chipping norton area. Where would you go in the UK if you could go anywhere and why?

We live on SC and really like it here .However as a child grew up in North London .Still have a little dream of buying a home there (but only if it was like my childhood now! )Bit of a different vibe I think!

I live in North London - if you want incredible food, culture, parks, diversity, history and architecture, plus excellent job opportunities, travel links and schools (depending on which area you’re in) then it’s the place to be! Personally I wouldn’t live anywhere else.

Could you move to a quieter part of Kent OP? I agree with the PP who said that it really does have everything!

dottiedodah · 26/07/2021 14:17

llllllllll Yes you are probably right .Just love the beaches here (more in Spring /Autumn TBH as so packed right now) However we can be in London in about 1 to 2 hours ,so used to pop up for a day out and take in Museums and so on.Will be again now hopefully if unlocked! Dont think we would be able to afford London prices now!

lafiesansvert · 26/07/2021 14:21

As close as possible to the Suffolk coast AONB.

Might be worth checking flood risk first.

sasparilla1 · 26/07/2021 14:28

I'm in North Hampshire on the edge of a small town. I'd love to live further out in the country, but it doesn't work with the dc's.

In the future, I'd like to head further south to the coast and possibly the Isle of Wight. I love it there.

Sweetpea84 · 26/07/2021 14:33

Isle of Wight here. Going on Sunday and will be looking for property 😊

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/07/2021 14:36

I already live in the Lakes. Not going anywhere - it's too nice to look at, even if the tourists send me batty with their weird driving habits!

2020newmum · 26/07/2021 14:39

Anywhere on the coast that's close to very good schools and not overcrowded. If anybody knows of anywhere that fits this description please let me know!

OneTC · 26/07/2021 14:45

Croydon 😍

RuthTopp · 26/07/2021 14:45

@BobbinThreadbare123
I'll second that !
It's also Costa del Cumbria here at the moment.

ShirleyDab · 26/07/2021 14:45

North Dorset. Rich in history, lovely people, beautiful countryside yet just 40mins from Poole harbour and beaches.

nephthys · 26/07/2021 14:53

Kielder, Northumberland

RaraRachael · 26/07/2021 14:55

Scutterbug I'm very envious of you. We holiday in Stratford-upon-Avon most years when the kids were young and absolutely loved it.

Marmaladee · 26/07/2021 14:56

I'd like to move to one of those big houses in Brighton

midgemagneto · 26/07/2021 14:57

@nephthys

Kielder, Northumberland

ArabellaPilkington · 26/07/2021 14:57

We are in Kent and I'd stay here - except I'd also have a holiday villa in Northeast Corfu I'd live and work from May - September Grin

2020newmum · 26/07/2021 15:06

@RaraRachael is there much to do in Stratford-upon-Avon? I don't hear it mentioned as a holiday destination very often!

angieloumc · 26/07/2021 15:11

I live in Saltaire, West Yorkshire and love it but my heart belongs to Durham (I had many happy holidays as a child with my grandmother who lived there) and I'd live there in a flash if I could.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/07/2021 15:13

@RuthTopp have you seen the flooding in London? Do you feel like we've swapped weather somehow..?! Grin

I notice PP upthread have said Grange-over-Sands. Now that is Costa del Cumbria!

PattyPan · 26/07/2021 15:30

Somewhere in Hart district (Hampshire)

TheCrowening · 26/07/2021 15:33

West coast of Scotland. Maybe when I retire…

zukiecat · 26/07/2021 16:25

I live in Aberdeen, have moved away a couple of times but always come home, after a bitter split with XH, I moved home for the final time. I don't want to live anywhere else but here.

Though Edinburgh would be a strong contender.

MordredsOrrery · 26/07/2021 16:30

I'd go for Wrentham, Framlingham or Durham (in that order).

But if it was real, I'd choose the Weasley's house.

NoviceNewMN · 26/07/2021 17:00

Doesn't this question really depend on what you want and what's important to you so other people's ideas aren't much help unless you are specfic about what you'd want?

For me, key requirements would be not on a flood plain or any history of flooding, high quality health care and good transport links.
