AIBU to go to a&e?

I’ve had bad dizziness, nausea and indigestion type symptoms and cold sweats (not prone to any of this) for an hour, I just really don’t feel right at all.

I googled the symptoms and am now worried it’s heart issues. I took an aspirin and called nhs24 in Scotland. They asked if my neck was hot cold wet or dry and I said normal
And they asked if my lips were blue and I said I wasn’t sure I didn’t think so.

They’ve said they will refer me to out of hours doctor and someone will call me back later today.

As I was googling all I kept reading was how womens heart attacks are missed because their symptoms are different.

I’m not a malingerer or dramatic, I tend to just get in with stuff, but something really doesn’t feel right, maybe it’s just vertigo or something but I’m considering just going to a&e, can’t decide if that’s over the top!

I took an aspirin before I called nhs 24 and am sitting on my floor knees bent just now (if I move I’m too dizzy)

It sounds like it could be many things, food poisoning? A bug?

To be honest it's your call as you're the only person that knows your body.

If you feel you need to go to A&E then do so. Google is a nightmare sometimes and makes people think the worse thing. But if you don't feel right then take yourself over there. Hope you feel better soon.

Do you have any pain in your upper arms or jaw?

What is your temperature? Has gaviscon/rennies helped the indigestion pain? Other than aspirin, what you have taken?

How old are you and what is your general health like?

Symptoms would be more concerning in a 60 year old with poor health than a 30 year old in good health.

Temp seems normal, no pain with indigestion just burning full sensation and I don’t have any Gaviscon or Rennie at home as I’ve only ever had indigestion when pregnant so not for 18 years

I’m 51 and about 5 stones overweight but apart from that good health

Absolutely none, stiffness in back of neck /shoulder but I often get that so not out of the ordinary

Ridiculous advice,never call 999 for an ambulance unless its an EMERGENCY.this is not an emergency and op is quite able to take herself for treatment.

Go to A&E OP.

I would be worried if you have back pain but not if it's normal neck pains.

Friends mum.had major heart attack. Phoned NHS direct and they knew it was a heart attack. I would trust NHS direct unless you get worse. They know the symptoms for heart attacks in women.

But if you get worse, then of course you go in.

Do you have any bicarb?
A teaspoon in a small amount of water treats indigestion. You have to chug it though as it tastes vile.

If you are unusually breathless and dizzy, go in to A and E. You are overweight and in your 50s, classic age for a heart attack for a woman, and you are right, they do present exactly like this. Blue lips have nothing to do with it.

Be prepared for a looooong wait in A&E op, take your phone for when ooh gp calls.

I had similar a few weeks ago and it was a 12 hour wait after ooh gp referred me to a&e

(it wasn't a heart attack BTW. Have you had plenty of fluids op? Could you be dehydrated?)

A suspected heart attack isn't an emergency?!! What are you on about! Ring 999 OP. Ten to one it's nothing sinister, but don't take that risk. You know your body!

Do you have a smart watch that can do you oxygen levels and ECG?

I went in to a&e with what could maybe, possibly l, perhaps have been heart attack symptoms a few months ago. I definitely didn't think I was having a heart attack but 111 did. I was seen for an ECG in a&e within 30 seconds. After they had established it wasn't a heart attack, THEN I had a long wait. But unlike people on this thread, A&E do not fuck about when it comes to suspected heart attacks.

Sorry, meant to add that yes, if you are concerned, do go to A&E.

Possibly check the colour of your tongue... My friend in her 50's had a HA and her tongue was a very dark colour, almost black...
My (ex) MIL had jaw pain, felt nauseous and wrist pain. These were the only symptoms relayed (by me) to Surgery/Dr (back in the day) and Ambulance was sent immediately.

Could be gallstones...the symptoms are the same as I had.

When my DH got "a bit short of breath" (his words) in the early hours of the morning and then got progressively worse over the next couple of hours, I phoned NHS Direct. I spent 50 minutes on the phone, during which I explained that he'd a) been taking Gaviscon "for heartburn" for approx 8 weeks, b) he'd had Covid a few months earlier and c) there was a family history of heart attacks.

They said a doctor would ring back within the hour, but by the time I got off the phone, he'd gone a dreadful colour and I took him straight to A&E. He had a cardiac arrest on the trolley on the way to the scanner, and his heart was so badly damaged that they asked for my permission to turn off the life support. He'd had a massive coronary thrombosis.

So I'm afraid I wouldn't trust them at all.
