My feeling about Kavanaugh was always that he had provably lied under oath and should have been called on it, and I couldn't work out why he hadn't been.

Someone who is a known perjurer has no place on the Supreme Court, surely.

borntobequiet I agree about the other thread. The trans issue seems to have been selected as the single defining point of Biden's entire presidency, and the consensus seems to be that Trump was so much better on women's issues. I'm keeping away from that thread now, it makes my head hurt.

Yes, pointy, it’s annoying. I’m very firmly on women’s right to keep their spaces single sex and consider the whole trans thing - well, I don’t want to use the words I’d like to because don’t want to get deleted.
But many people don’t appreciate that the US, its politics and the position of women there is so different from here, that you can’t make a direct equivalence. I hope that over time it will calm down and those changes that benefit women, particularly in their reproductive lives, come to prominence and that those things that are damaging to them subside as sanity returns. In the meantime, it’s clear that it facilitates mischief-making against Democrats and Biden in particular.

We care because we're rational human beings. (And some of us are US citizens, ex-pats or married/partnered with US citizens and have half of our families in the US. So plenty of skin in the game.)

Some of us can count even if we are not Americans. Trump was purporting to be president of American until January this year, which is not quite seven months ago.

Come to that, he is still purporting to be president now.
