If you've been pinged did you isolate?

I've been pinged today for the first time and told to isolate for 5 days. Reading other threads it seems that a lot of people don't have the app or wouldn't isolate if they were pinged.

How is following a dodgy app ‘doing the right thing’ as people keep saying? The tool isn’t fit for purpose, so basically following its instructions is just virtue signalling. Common sense would be to just test and double check. People self isolating due to the app fall into two categories - majority who use it as paid leave and well meaning but misguided small minority who think they are doing a public service by keeping others safe.

I have the app for the very few venues that ask you to show them that you’ve checked in, but most places seem to have given up on that now. If they don’t ask, I don’t bother doing the check in, and I have contact tracing turned off. I’m amazed anyone has still got it on tbh.

What is the point of messaging me telling me I dont need to self isolate....someone somewhere is paying for the cost of sending pointless messages.
