I love sunny weather, but I just cant with this heat. House is like a hot box. Have tried all the tricks with opening windows at night etc etc, keeping curtains closed in hot sun, but I'm sitting at my computer overheating. I miss the sea - used to live beside the sea and it was never this still, always a sea breeze. Anyone else want to have a moan with me

I agree it’s getting a bit much now. Feels like it has been going on longer than it has.

Holothane · 21/07/2021 15:35

We are melting as well I’m hoping my birthday has thunderstorms.

samsmum2 · 21/07/2021 15:35

Agree. I long for sunshine but 30 degrees is too much. Plus we have a new kitten so can't open any doors to the garden.... aarrrghh.

Shapesorted · 21/07/2021 15:36

I'm a childminder and it's honestly a nightmare trying to keep the children entertained in weather they can't be out in for long, it's almost as bad as the depths of winter.

LubaLuca · 21/07/2021 15:37

YABU. I'm isolating so I need the distraction of the garden, plus I bought a 12ft pool and I really want to get my money's worth out of it 😄

postitgirl · 21/07/2021 15:40

Thanks good to know I'm not alone. I'm so bored - bored with wfh, have loads to do but cant get motivated to get stuck in - end up reading a book on the sofa, but even that gets too hot after a while. I need to go to the supermarket and am wondering can I manage until 9pm tonight though last night it was still 27 at that time. I agree, it's like mid-winter where you cant go out. Have just persuaded dd and ds to go for a little walk but they will be back in 5 mins. Not their fault, it's just too hot to walk around.

YABU. I need decent weather on Friday Grin.
By decent I mean sunny and preferably warm.

WTFisNext · 21/07/2021 15:43

My weather wishlist is currently for proper thunderstorms with enough rain to really cool down the air then a few days of overcast but dry weather so people can still enjoy the summer time without melting as soon as they leave the shade.

Knowing my luck the weather won't break and I'll be miserable until October!

HappyWipings · 21/07/2021 15:51

I'm with you op , it's so oppressive. I live in a flat (no outdoor space) in the middle of a built up city. This weather makes my 3 year old unwell and grumpy. The parks around here aren't shaded and the play equipment would be too hot to touch anyway. I haven't slept well in several days.

Enough is enough.

We must all do a rain dance.

ALongHardWinter · 21/07/2021 16:31

Totally with you on this. I hate this weather,I cannot think of one positive thing about it. I'm sweating within 2 minutes of getting out of the shower, and I'm dripping with sweat just walking 100 yards. I'm OK with temperatures up to 25/26 degrees, but any higher and I suffer. Roll on Friday!

warmandtoasty2day · 21/07/2021 16:35

sunny and warm is good but coping in heavy heat is another matter.

Fizzbangwallop · 21/07/2021 16:38

I agree. I’m sweating from places that I didn’t know I could perspire from!

Oneearringlost · 21/07/2021 16:42

Completely with you OP.
Just ironed 4 shirts and need a little lie down in front of the fan ( have it on all night too).
It's sapping and oppressive.

thetaleunfolds · 21/07/2021 16:44

I can’t wait for cooler weather. Heavily pregnant, already unwell, and my son, dog and I are fighting over the only fan in the house 😂

AutistGoth · 21/07/2021 16:44

Same, @HappyWipings. It's a recurring theme I'm seeing a lot lately. City apartments are just not made with extreme deviations from average temperatures in mind.

People who live in houses with gardens just don't understand how stifling it is.

Plump82 · 21/07/2021 16:45

Yabu because i start a weeks holiday and would quite like nice weather on my days off!

AutistGoth · 21/07/2021 16:45

Gosh! That second sentence sounded so pretentious. I'm sorry about that.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/07/2021 16:47

Roll on Friday!!

YANBU. DS is right in the middle of athletics season, on Saturday he ran an 800m, at midday, on a track that was hotter than the surface of the sun - I could feel the heat radiating off it from the back of the stands. This evening, he has 2 x 100m sprints. I fear his running spikes will melt and he'll get stuck to the track Grin

gurglebelly · 21/07/2021 17:05

At 3am it was 32 degrees in our south facing bedroom, and that's with all the windows open and 2 fans going. It was suffocating

eightlivesdown · 21/07/2021 17:10

My current place is a heat trap when it's sunny, and it's exhausting. I've opened multiple windows, but it doesn't generate much of a breeze. A fan helps to a degree.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 21/07/2021 17:34

I've been taking the ice pack to bed with me. Of course it doesn't stay frozen all night but it has been helping me cool enough to fall asleep and luckily I've only been working half days this week so have been able to catch up on some sleep through the day. I hate hot weather.

FreeSpirits · 21/07/2021 17:38

It will probably rain all summer holidays and then we can all have a good moan about that too 😜

daisycottage · 21/07/2021 18:11

I'm feeling unwell with it. I'm very heat intolerant. I'm pouring with sweat constantly and my hair is wet. I feel sickly and sticky and horrible. I'm going back in the shower shortly and will have to wash hair again. I'm fed up. I can't even go out into the garden for anything because it's so hot out there.
