to be counting down the hours to friday & cooler weather

I love sunny weather, but I just cant with this heat. House is like a hot box. Have tried all the tricks with opening windows at night etc etc, keeping curtains closed in hot sun, but I'm sitting at my computer overheating. I miss the sea - used to live beside the sea and it was never this still, always a sea breeze. Anyone else want to have a moan with me

I cannot wait until Friday!

I like warm weather but 23c is my ideal

the80sweregreat · 21/07/2021 18:15

Me too! Can't wait for the heatwave to do one.

cakeseeker · 21/07/2021 18:16

Yes, I'm constantly checking the weather app in anticipation! Cannot wait.

littlepeas · 21/07/2021 18:18

I’m by the sea - there has been no breeze this week! But it is a couple of degrees cooler than further inland.

user16395699 · 21/07/2021 18:19

23 degrees and sunny with a light breeze is nice weather.

Unrelenting 26+ degree heat kills people. It is not nice weather.

babymidgetgem · 21/07/2021 19:47

@daisycottage

I'm feeling unwell with it. I'm very heat intolerant. I'm pouring with sweat constantly and my hair is wet. I feel sickly and sticky and horrible. I'm going back in the shower shortly and will have to wash hair again. I'm fed up. I can't even go out into the garden for anything because it's so hot out there.
This 100% My skin is so itchy, and my head is throbbing. I can't get comfortable at all, I feel sick and miserable. We have fans going everywhere, and I am desperate for the rain now!
Livpool · 21/07/2021 20:38

YABU - it has literally been nice for a week here. I am loving it

MiaMarshmallows · 21/07/2021 22:26

I am counting down the hours. I have found this week unbearable. Really cannot understand how anyone could possibly enjoy this. It's disgusting, the sweat and discomfort. We are meant to be getting another heatwave in August and I am already dreading it.

Ugzbugz · 21/07/2021 22:27

On holiday by the pool love it, in the UK I hate it, I'm miserable and can barely function 😫

gardeninggirl68 · 21/07/2021 22:28

i read that August will be the same. small respite then its back again!

Mansplainee · 21/07/2021 22:32

I’m heavily pregnant and am absolutely hating this heatwave, it’s unbearable now. Constantly checking the weather app to see when the rain might arrive.

ssd · 21/07/2021 22:35

27 degrees here on Friday Sad

Doghairismyglitter · 21/07/2021 22:37

YANBU! My 3 yr olds ezcema has massively flared up from the heat, to the point where he’s itching himself silly and crying because it hurts Sad My dog is sulking because he can’t go on any school or nursery walks because the pavement is just too hot. I arrive at work everyday with sweat dripping off my face from walking the children to nursery and school. Within two minutes of having a shower I’m sweating again. I feel unclean constantly. Counting down till Friday!!

DismantledKing · 21/07/2021 22:39

@postitgirl

Thanks good to know I'm not alone. I'm so bored - bored with wfh, have loads to do but cant get motivated to get stuck in - end up reading a book on the sofa, but even that gets too hot after a while. I need to go to the supermarket and am wondering can I manage until 9pm tonight though last night it was still 27 at that time. I agree, it's like mid-winter where you cant go out. Have just persuaded dd and ds to go for a little walk but they will be back in 5 mins. Not their fault, it's just too hot to walk around.
My idea of perfect weather is warm, 20 degree days and cooler, wet nights.
inmyslippers · 21/07/2021 22:43

It's not for me. Thankful I'm off work this weekend week so can hide inside in shade

Nat6999 · 21/07/2021 22:49

Me too, we have gone through every ice lolly, 2 kilos of ice cubes we had delivered in the last shop, ds has drunk 27 litres of bottled water, I have drunk 20 litres of fizzy water, we are all fed up of the sounds of the fans & it would be lovely to get covered up properly in bed at night.

Nat6999 · 21/07/2021 22:52

Mansplainee I can remember how bad I felt in hot weather when I was pregnant & I wasn't anywhere near as far on as you, I spent two weeks holiday laid in a darkened caravan as it was too hot to move.

YANBU - I live near the coast & it’s still way too hot. Makes me feel ill 😢

Travielkapelka · 21/07/2021 23:04

Love every second of it. Have fans in every room and it makes the house very pleasant

AntiHop · 21/07/2021 23:17

Yanbu. I have a 3 month old baby so I have to hide inside as she is too young to be out in this heat.

MadisonAvenue · 21/07/2021 23:19

I was looking forward to Friday, we were initially forecast 23° so the temps were moving in the right direction. That’s now changed to 26°.
I’m pinning my hopes on Saturday for 21° and storms.

CurryLover55 · 21/07/2021 23:26

I know we need the thunderstorms to clear the air but I always worry about my bunnies. Still, they somehow can tell the difference between a natural event & fireworks ( rabbits can die from shock when fireworks go off 😢)

@Doghairismyglitter

your poor little one!
do cool baths with oats help at all?

as for your dog & walking: fire rescue dogs have heat resistant booties to protect their paws - maybe worth investigating if you can buy them?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/07/2021 23:33

we've had 30°C every day since Saturday.
sick of it.

we have ceiling fans lights in every room; I knew we won't need them often but when we do they would be invaluable.
they are constantly on.
and we have a big hot tub to cool off in - water temp is set at 33°C which is perfect.
we live on iced drinks and ice lollies and cars have air con (in my car the air gets cold almost immediately!) and we can have all windows & doors open during the day.
But I still loathe this weather!

bring on the storm & clouds!
