Ignore your bitch of a MIL. It's slim. I bet she's one of these stick insects wearing make up that was fashionable in her youth

Hankunamatata · 10/07/2021 13:16

Lol she would hate me I'm 5'5 and have rarely been under 11 stone

Cushionsnotpillows · 10/07/2021 13:18

I'd be telling her it's none of her business. Shut that shit down straight away.

Well she's a rude bitch then isn't she. I'd tell her so. It doesn't matter if you weighed 88st she still shouldn't have said it. I doubt that at 5'4" 8st is overweight. I'm 5'6" and anything less than 8 1/2 st is considered underweight by the GP.
rainyskylight · 10/07/2021 13:25

I’m 5’3 1/2 and 7st12. (The half inch is important to me...). I’ve never been thinner, a size 6/8, and my bum has no padding to it. BMI of 19 and my ribs show. (Still breastfeeding, can’t keep weight on.) So yeah, I think you’re definitely slim!!!!! Obviously it’s how you carry it. But your mum is BU! Eat more peanut butter!!!!

2orangey · 10/07/2021 13:26

I'm 5 foot 4 and 8 stone 9. I think I look fairly slim. On the larger end of size 8.

When I was 8 stone I looked really skinny - flatter tummy and smaller bum but my face looked very gaunt. I remember a nurse telling me I needed to eat a sandwich! But it looks different with different frame / features.

No-one should be telling you to lose weight anyway. It's rude and none of their business.

PearlNextDoor · 10/07/2021 13:27

wow, yanbu, i'm only 5'1 and felt slim at 8 and a half, kissed that weight goodbye during lockdown.

Your MIL shouldn't be so interested in your weight.

Picklypickles · 10/07/2021 13:29

I'm 5ft nothing and 8 stone would be about right for me (if I can ever get back there!) but might be quite light for you at 5ft4, either way its very rude of your MIL to mention your weight at all, its none of her concern.

MiddleParking · 10/07/2021 13:31

I’m very noticeably slim (although perfectly healthy) at that weight at 5’1. Your MIL sounds unbearably rude.

ThinWomansBrain · 10/07/2021 13:32

the only reply is "I could lose weight if I wanted to, you'll always be a rude, arrogant cow" Grin

apologies to cows, they're lovely.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 10/07/2021 13:33

Well it depends how you carry it. I'm 5'8 and quite heavy but only a 10/12. Other people at my weight seem a lot bigger. The lightest I've been is 9 stone, I'm very slim then and it's really difficult to maintain. I'd probably look unwell at 8stone.

Hugsgalore · 10/07/2021 13:37

@girlmom21

Tell your MIL to go fuck herself.
I agree
FinallyHere · 10/07/2021 13:38

Another way to think about it is to reply to anything your MiL says by agreeing that she thinks you could do with loosing half a stone.

And doing nothing else about it.

OhTheTastyNuts · 10/07/2021 13:44

I'm 5 ft 5 and hover around 8 stone 1. I'm lower end of healthy BMI and slim.

Tal45 · 10/07/2021 13:45

Crazy old bat, what is it with MIL's?

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 10/07/2021 13:47

You're so very teeny tiny.

Teeeeeeeny. Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny.

Bksjshsbbev2737 · 10/07/2021 13:49

I’m 5.4 and 8 stone; I consider that I’m slim but I’m not skinny however when I have been 7.5 stone I’ve looked too skinny

BarefootHippieChick · 10/07/2021 13:50

I'm 5'4" and 8 stone and I'm very slim so I would imagine you don't need to lose weight. And even if you did, what the F does it have do with your MIL?

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 10/07/2021 13:51

@Pedalpushers I find it so fascinating how people carry weight differently. I'm 5'7 and 9 stone 9 but a size 12. I'm trying to get to 9 stone to see if that puts me firmly back as a 10 as lots of clothes feeling snug. I just don't carry weight well at all!

Footballfrenzy2021 · 10/07/2021 13:53

I’m 5’5” & 47kgs.
Hadn’t seen my ex MIL for a few months & the first words out of her gobby mouth were ‘you’ve got fat haven’t you ? ‘
Thank goodness I never have to have another conversation with her in my lifetime

Wombat36 · 10/07/2021 13:54

I'm that height & the lightest I've ever been is 9st. My DH has seen pics & was not complimentary as frankly I looked ill. I'm big & properly heavy-boned so better heavier. It also gives you some protection & fuel reserves when feeding, etc. That's why women evolved to carry more fat, it's a safety measure in time of war, pestilence & famine. Be happy in yourself & with the babs.

I'd be ignoring the nasty cow. Sound jealous.

ArabeI · 10/07/2021 13:56

Yes, you're right and it's slim for your height.
I'm only very slightly taller around 5ft 5" and approx 8 and a half stone (fluctuates up and down a couple of lbs) and I wouldn't like to go below 8 stone.

WhatMattersMost · 10/07/2021 14:00

Your MIL is jealous. Disengage from any attempts by her to play that game.

HideousKinky · 10/07/2021 14:19

How is it any of MIL's business?

TheFairyCaravan · 10/07/2021 14:21

I’m 5’4 and 8stone. I’m slim. I’ve always been around this weight. Tell your MIL to mind her own business and concentrate on her own weight.
