AIBU - Princess Diana new statue

She was a style icon yet she’s in one of those frumpy waist belts that were only in fashion briefly. The face does nothing to represent how beautiful she was. It’s too harsh.

I like both brothers. I just think it’s a bit sad they couldn’t put on a more United front when they were honouring their mother.

Why does she have a girl and a boy beside her? Or is it supposed to show her caring for the worlds children and not Harry and William. ?
Before I zoomed in I thought it was with the two boys and through oh lovely. But it just seems odd to have random children in it

It's absolutely awful. But apparently her sons chose it. So what can you say?

But jeeze, I'm struggling to see how it could have been any less like her, and any less artistically pleasing.

He did get he hair and earrings right! Grin I think ut's better in profile view.
Diana's charm was in her mannerisms / facial impressions - impossible to portray in sculpture (much easier in painting). Her actual features were quite hard, strong jawline, so she never was especially feminine (facially, the figure another matter!)

Why should William have to put on fake smiles?
All he has to do is be polite which he clearly was as I didn’t hear any loud fuck off harry come from his mouth and he must have been tempted after all the shit Harry has spilled.
Harry looked uncomfortable at times and those big smiles and laughs looked out of place as no one else was being jolly.

No I think he just won’t play games. In his twenties there used to be ructions that he wouldn’t play ball with his own PR people.

You can view it as bloody minded or you can view it as principled, or both, but I think it is a consistent character trait.

I have no issues with the outfit but I don’t think it captures her well. The age and height of the kids don’t seem right to me either - they feel out of proportion to her height

So heavy set and mannish. She was a gorgeous, willowy, slender and very tall lady with endless legs. This statue makes her look heavy set and dumpy with a short neck and so stern. Almost as bad as the Diana and Dodi statue in Harrods was! Shockingly bad in fact. They have captured none of her light or grace.

His family is racist. It's very well documented. Did you miss the recent news about the Palace refusing to employ "coloured" people in the 70s and beyond?

Not quite accurate. They did employ. They just couldn't hold clerical positions. Not that it makes it any better, but always best to keep things factual. And it was the 60s. It's not (yet) known what this was lifted.

But other than that, you're right. They no angels.
