BBC Commentary is Awful

Oh my word!

Firstly, well done England. I'm not an England fan but wish them well.

But surely our license fee deserves better than the awful BBC coverage?

The England game is on BBC so it's unlikely. Probably be Jenas or Murphy who add virtually nothing (though at least Jenas seems to enjoy it I suppose).

The studio characters are a jingoistic joke. It’s embarrassing. ITV is much more focused on reality and less on bugging themselves up. The Grey Man and the other two make me laugh but not in a good way.

I was working this evening and our residents really enjoyed the game …am so happy that England are through to the next level. I really cannot worry about the commentators…Emma who was commentating yesterday was actually spot on !!

I’m finding that the background/crowd noise is too high so I can’t hear the commentators very well.

I am a big supporter of women's football and actively pay to watch matches and have a relative who plays professionally, but I don't think Alex Scott is great tbh.

Karen Carney is ace though.

And a bit of a boorish person as well. I have no idea how he kept his job after those sexist jokes years ago. I suppose these days he wouldn't.

As for the commentary being England-centric, they were pro-Wales the other evening, and I think if Scotland or Wales had got through there would have been lots of coverage. When Wales made it through to the round of 16 it was first item on the Today programme during, and then after, the 7am news.

Whether the commentary is woeful generally is a question of opinion. My DS doesn't like Danny Murphy's "contributions".

I can't listen to Alex Scott in the studio though. She does that Priti Patel thing of missing of the "g"s

Those complaining that the BBC was clearly behind a British team really need to get out more, if you really want to hear national 'bias' listen to Spanish TV! I've never heard the word goal take so long to say, gooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll .

The Beeb gets criticised for being anti-British, good to see them behind the home nations. Loved seeing on the highlights programme the bit where all the commentry team were going crazy, especially Ferdinand. I'm not allowed to watch, think about, look at the score, anything, during the game, Wolf Hall for me!

I'm a Scot and rooted for Scotland until they were knocked out. Then wanted both Wales and England to do well.

I'm happy for England to do well now if we are not involved any more.

And I know I'll get crucified now but I don't want female commentators while I'm watching a game. Sorry.
