I’ll start! Miso soup (from the jar, sachets are rubbish) with very finely sliced asparagus and spring onions. Takes 2 minutes and kills a salty food craving 🍜

Popchips

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 20:17

Don’t snack. Not being facetious just why snack? Eat 3 meals 4/5 hrs apart.

Francescaisstressed · 27/06/2021 20:17

Low fat yoghurt.
Red pepper/Cucumber/carrot batons.
2 squares dark chocolate.
Popcorn.
Seafood sticks.

countdowntonap · 27/06/2021 20:17

Boiled eggs! After a big workout, I’ll have an egg or small tin of tuna if I’m hungry before next meal.

Work or caring commitments that prevent you from eating a balanced meal at times convenient to you?

I've got miso paste in the fridge but stupidly never really thought of making soup with it. Usually have some spring onions that need eating too.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/06/2021 20:22

Celery and carrot sticks with a dippy sauce made from yoghurt and a little bit of tahini paste.

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 20:23

Then that’s a meal surely? A snack is in addition to a meal isn’t it?

Quornflakegirl · 27/06/2021 20:24

I try not snack but if I eat between meals it would be fruit or coffee.

BikeRunSki · 27/06/2021 20:24

Why come on a thread where teh OP has asked for snack recommendations if it is something you don't do? Did you just want everyone to know how much better you are than them?

OP my go to low call snacks are -
Boiled eggs
Veg sticks with salsa
Yogurt with frozen berries
Couple of oatcakes with a small piece of cheese
Fishsticks.

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 20:26

No not all. Just if you’re watching calories, eating 3 meals a day will avoid the need to snack. It’s a forum. Op asked.

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 20:27

Why so touchy?

33goingon64 · 27/06/2021 20:28

Malt loaf

TheLette · 27/06/2021 20:29

Oatcakes with apple and small amount of peanut butter.

Nuts (10g or so).

Aldi has cereal bars which are cheap and less than 100 calories.

Graze snacks

Nairn's biscuits - low sugar and low calorie. Coconut ones are particularly nice, I think.

Berries

For a dessert - Greek yogurt, tiny bit of honey, 1 crumbled amaretti biscuit, and fruit.

LemonRoses · 27/06/2021 20:32

Don’t snack is best.
Failing that, celery or cucumber.

That doesn't sound healthier than snacking. I eat small portion at meal times and I snack between. That isn't unhealthy
I8toys · 27/06/2021 20:34

Following because snacking is my downfall, I'd go without food to snack.

GnomeDePlume · 27/06/2021 20:35

Apple dipped in powdered sweetener

Malt loaf
Isn't malt loaf full of sugar?
MumofSpud · 27/06/2021 20:39

Am training myself NOT to snack but in the meantime:
Carrot batons
Apples
Peppermint tea

Yes, OP asked a question. Can you remember what it was?
Mustardfan · 27/06/2021 20:40

I find I don't get enough calories across three meals. In a typical day my breakfast, lunch, and dinner averages around 1000-1100 calories and I can't up my portion sizes or eat more at mealtimes because I'd be too full. Too few calories sets off all sorts of problems with my anxiety and makes me eat even fewer calories which makes it worse again so I eat 1000-1100 across three meals and try to have a snack or two to bump me up to an average total of 1600 a day.

OP, my favourite snacks are

  • seafood sticks with a little pot of sweet chilli sauce or seafood sauce to dip them in
  • Gullon oat biscuits from Home Bargains, they have chocolate spread sandwiched between them and are around 190 calories for two
  • Tango Ice Blast, 9 calories and 0g fat for a large/22oz cup
  • apple slices tossed in some cinnamon, with a little bit of salted caramel syrup drizzled on top, and a crushed digestive crumbled over it
Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 20:43

Yes I find the lowest calorie snack is none at all. Ok?
