I’ll start! Miso soup (from the jar, sachets are rubbish) with very finely sliced asparagus and spring onions. Takes 2 minutes and kills a salty food craving 🍜

My PT advises three meals and two snacks a day.

I don’t think she means Magnums but whatever

ThinWomansBrain · 27/06/2021 20:47

popcorn - although it's more expensive, I buy the multipacks of about 14 or 15 grams, then I'm not tempted to eat the rest of an open bag.
Yesterday I made up a pack of those sugar free jelly crystals, and added a couple of strawberries as it was cooling, that was really nice - 9 calories per serving, plus the fruit if you add any.

SirenSays · 27/06/2021 20:47

Frozen grapes. Edamame. Vegan yoghurt. Guac and pita chips. Protein balls. Nori. Smoothie bowls. Homemade popcorn. Summer rolls. Taquitos.

Doublestar · 27/06/2021 20:47

I love popchips and skinny popcorn but I've also just discovered these mango ice lollies from Waitrose that are only 27 cals per lolly and they're lovely (I think they're called something-bear lollies) they give me a bit of a fix when I fancy something sweet.

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 20:48

If I ate 3 meals and 2 snacks per day I’d be overweight. I probably get 1500 cals a day over 3 meals which is what I need for my build and height. I’m into fasting and find it helpful in weight management and teaching your body to learn to recognise real hunger. A big glass of water quells most tummy rumbles for me. But if I eat say porridge or eggs for breakfast, I’m fine until lunch . Then I’ll eat a salad with tuna or pulses plus an apple which is filling due to the protein and keeps me going until 6.

PurpleyBlue · 27/06/2021 20:50

Apple and peanut butter (go easy on the peanut butter)

When only crisps will do skips and pom bear

Oneborneverydecade · 27/06/2021 20:51

That doesn't sound healthier than snacking. I eat small portion at meal times and I snack between. That isn't unhealthy

It's great that that works for you. For many it would be unhealthy because it would put them at risk of insulin resistance and therefore weight gain.

HermioneKipper · 27/06/2021 20:55

Ooh following - on a new diet regime. Need to stop reaching for the biscuits at 4pm.

I like carrot/cucumber sticks and low fat salad dressing to dip
Low fat cuppa soup
Light Alpen bar
Iced coffee with skimmed milk and sugar free syrup

CJSmith2019 · 27/06/2021 20:56

Apples sliced with a small dip of peanut butter.

Skyr or natural yoghurt with fresh fruit mixed in..

Porridge is what, 200 cals? And a tuna salad say 300/400cals. What third meal are you eating that is over 900 calories ? I really don’t want to ask as it’s just derailing the thread, but I’m curious! And this is the problem when people don’t answer ops question …

@Benjispruce3 tomorrow I will work from 9am until 9:30pm in a workplace without provision to have dinner. I will eat breakfast before I go and take a lunch bag with ice pack with my lunch in, that doesn't stay cool for twelve hours. So I'll take a snack to eat mid evening, an apple, some rice cakes maybe a little pot of nut butter for dipping and have a light dinner when I get home, an omelette or something. Do you expect me to go from 1-9:30 without eating? I have done it, but it makes it more likely I'll eat a big carby dinner when I get home and I don't feel great. The other option is to do what my colleagues will do tomorrow and go to the McDonald's across the road. I think my snack is the healthier option. Maybe try and think outside of your lifestyle.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 27/06/2021 21:00

Healthy snacks are just depressing

ListenLinda · 27/06/2021 21:03

Following as my snacking habits have been terrible while in this self isolation for the last few days! Really need to get a grip of my weight

Buggerthebotox · 27/06/2021 21:04

A packet of Pom Bears. 65 calories.
I usually have a small tin of sweetcorn to dip into if desperate (hard not to snack when wfh,).

Akrotiri1 · 27/06/2021 21:04

Crispbakes with low fat phili.....or sour cream and chive popchips - tasty and only 70 calories.

Always have a pot of olives in the fridge too.

VictoriaLudorum · 27/06/2021 21:04

What is a snack?
Either you eat meals or not. If you are hungry between meals eat something like an apple or a banana, but not biscuits, sandwiches or anything else.
Work out how much you "theoretically" need in terms of energy (for most people it is a lot less than the 2000/2500 calories recommended). Tdee is better than BMI for this.
Remember to drink enough water. Quite often people eat, when they actually need to have a drink.

blubberball · 27/06/2021 21:06

Puft hula hoops
Low calorie jelly pots
Fruit
Yogurt
Protein milkshake

Musmerian · 27/06/2021 21:07

Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries are all really low cal. I like the sound of the miso soup - I’m going to try that.

3Britnee · 27/06/2021 21:08

Sugar free ice poles - 3.5 cals and 0 carbs.
No added sugar natural yoghurt - 48 cals & 6 carbs.
51g Sugar free ice cream - 80 cals and 6.7 carbs.
Fibre one bar - 83 cals, 9 carbs minus the fibre, which is about 6g.
10g square sugar free dark choc - 53 cals, 3.5 carbs.
Gluten free, no added sugar or salt biscuit - 26 cals, 3.3 carbs.

That's what I've got in.

WouldBeGood · 27/06/2021 21:16

Mini pepperami. Mini milk lollies.

I have a sous vide machine and make bits of chargrilled chicken or cheap steak to snack on and up my protein/iron intake.

60sbird · 27/06/2021 21:16

Skinny whip bars, I like the mint ones best as I love dark chocolate, they taste amazing

WouldBeGood · 27/06/2021 21:17

Eggs in any form too

Womencanlift · 27/06/2021 21:27

As a treat snack:
Skinny Whip or Bliss bars
Fibre one bars (Aldi do their own versions which are just as good)
Milky Bar white chocolate mousse (if you put in freezer it is just like ice cream, especially good if put with a Fibre One brownie that is warmed in the microwave)

Also fruit or 10 calorie jelly is handy for a mid afternoon snack

Recently found that Aldi do sugar free fruit drops - 15 calories for two and good to suck on one to deceive yourself that you are having a proper sweet

WhatsErFace2020 · 27/06/2021 21:47

@Benjispruce3

Don’t snack. Not being facetious just why snack? Eat 3 meals 4/5 hrs apart.
@Benjispruce3 getting a lot of slack for pointing out the clearest most effective option!! If I’m honest I’m not a snacker, I’ll eat my meals and pretty much that’s it (size 12 so not a brag) However I do find apples cut with the special apple cutter things with peanut butter to be a surprising treat for not many calories, plus good protein!

@KingdomScrolls if you are required to work 12.5hrs in one shift, your employer has a duty of care to make available to all their employees> a kitchen complete with fridge as well as the ability to heat food Under the health and safety at work act...
