Mama and "tiny human"?

I don't mean toddlers saying mama, more when people describe themselves as "Mama to Otis" or similar.
Tiny human is just dreadful. It just feels so twee to me.

AIBU?

YANBU

Iamnotminterested · 17/06/2021 09:23

Nope.

Nearly as bad as 'little man'. Grrr.

EL8888 · 17/06/2021 09:23

Definitely YANBU. Both are dreadful

SmidgenofaPigeon · 17/06/2021 09:25

I’m 26 weeks now and ohhh the twee language I hear on a daily basis...

My worst one is ‘babba’. Ugh.

My ‘friend’ actually asked me if I was that interested in my pregnancy because I told her I wasn’t getting an app that told me if my baby was the size of a pomegranate, or a Syrian hamster, or a bagel or some such nonsense. She’s all over things like that. I don’t find being pregnant very interesting at all Blush

@Iamnotminterested

I’m with you there. It’s never my little man, or the little man always “Little Man” and it shouldn’t but it makes me cringe.
FuckyouCovid21 · 17/06/2021 09:30

I raise you sexy little man or sexy princess - both of which I've seen on FB to describe babies/toddlers.

Sickening

SmidgenofaPigeon · 17/06/2021 09:34

Shock that’s shocking.

I’ve also seen filters used on babies and toddlers...to smooth out their skin and give them pouty lips! Awful.

recklessruby · 17/06/2021 09:37

Mumma Bear. Why? Are you a huge furry animal?

Blueballinthegarden · 17/06/2021 09:39

Syrian hamster Grin I must confess to being slightly obsessed with the fruit and veg babies are compared with, they say cabbage at 30 weeks but what kind??? Red? Savoy? Single leaf? My personal favourite was carrot, felt like they were really scraping the barrel with that one!
Marcipex · 17/06/2021 09:39

‘Sexy’ is massively inappropriate.

Sssloou · 17/06/2021 09:41

It’s up there with Bubba, Hubster, Hun ...

My sister always spoke of “My son this, My son that” ... didn’t use his name, v weird and out of context - to me - his aunt who lives next door....! Always felt very territorial, owning ....

shallIswim · 17/06/2021 09:41

Mama is ok.
It's an actual word used by small children and bigger ones alike in the US. The misspelling of it as 'mumma' as in 'proud mumma moment' really grinds my gears

otterbaby · 17/06/2021 09:42

Or even 'tiny hooman'

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/06/2021 09:42

‘Little princess’ is one that makes me cringe. Always had to glue a fixed and hideous smile on when a colleague proudly showed me photos of her ‘little princess’ Gdd.

I also loathe the tweeness of ‘pretty please’, and ‘baby steps’.

Marcipex · 17/06/2021 09:42

I feel the same about the name ‘Sonny’
I don’t want to call other people’s children a term that describes a non-existent relationship. If that makes sense.

Tlollj · 17/06/2021 09:44

My upcoming grandchild is the size of a kiwi, if any one is interested.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 17/06/2021 09:46

Vegetables and fruit aren’t as bad as the dessert version. ‘A slice of cake’ or ‘a bowl of popcorn’ 😂

shallIswim · 17/06/2021 09:47

And for an irrational reason I hate the word 'tasty'

FloraFauna27 · 17/06/2021 09:49

Someone on Facebook referred to their children as ‘the rugrats’. I actually screwed my face up as I read it.

Non pregnancy or child related, but I detest it when someone’s partner buys them flowers or something and the person posts it with the caption ‘the boy did good’. Bleurgh.

Hallyup6 · 17/06/2021 09:49

Mama is awful, especially these bullshit motivational posts that tell you 'Hang in there, mama, you got this' or some equally cringeworthy crap from some woman who thinks she's a bloody expert because she's managed to keep her baby alive for six months.

Chihuahuacat · 17/06/2021 09:51

I hate ‘baby’ used as in ‘how’s baby today?’

‘How is THE baby’

Also ‘how’s mum’ - usually the midwife to an adult woman.

Febo24 · 17/06/2021 09:51

Mom. It puts my teeth on edge.

FelicityPike · 17/06/2021 09:53

Do you know what irritates me these days?
The way the press keep calling Harry & Meghan’s children both names Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana.
Archie & Lili according to their parents.
They don’t write Prince George Alexander Louis or Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana or Prince Louis Arthur Charles.
That annoys me.
Rant over.

CareBear50 · 17/06/2021 09:54

He's her 'baby daddy' AngryAngryAngry

FelicityPike · 17/06/2021 09:54

But yes, mama/ mumma etc annoys me too.
As does calling grown women girls.
