To think WHO are trying to commit organisational suicide? They’ve said that women of childbearing age should not drink alcohol AT ALL.

A human female of gestating age MUST NOT ⚠️

Sleep on her right hand side
Ski
Drink tea or coffee
Consume any over the counter medication including paracetamol, ibuprofen, antihistamines and cold meds
Have x rays, CAT scans, sedation, general anaesthetic, or any dental work at all
Lift anything (except heavy, lurching children of course)

@RickiTarr

Quote not quite^.

Not only misogynistic but homophobic (they don’t seem to have heard of lesbians) and they use the godawful “pregnant people”, too.

After dropping a couple of balls on COVID it seems strange that they would follow up with a Gilead impersonation. 🤷🏻‍♀️

How is it homophobic?

All my lesbian friends in serious relationships have children, theres an amazing thing called sperm donation.

Because the point of banning all women from drinking, is incase they accidentally get pregnant. Not very much risk of a lesbian becoming pregnant accidentally is there?

SmokeyDevil · 17/06/2021 09:44

I can only hope that they've forgotten what month it is and it's a very late April fools joke. Hmm But still... Highly stupid of them.

SmokeyDevil · 17/06/2021 09:47

Pregnant people, yet only women need to be banned from drinking. So can men get pregnant now in woke world, or not I wonder?!

Technically in this woke world, yes men can get pregnant. Men however biologically can have babies their whole lives. Women have a time limit. So women can drink from about 50ish, men are now banned from drinking at all. Grin No smoking either now men, and I think golf and cycling are far too dangerous too incase they have babies.

We all need to stand up against patriarchal medical fascism.

Whether that concerns alcohol consumption of childbearing age women, jabs for people who don’t want them, limited access to abortion.

The WHO head is not a doctor, he’s not even a scientist. We all need to be concerned about the increasing influence of an organisation on our national life that has not been elected by us, nor can be held accountable by us.

JackieTheFart · 17/06/2021 09:51

Don’t worry, when the beautiful young women that shag our old wrinkly policy makers can’t do it because they’re not allowed a fortifying few drinks to get through it, I’m sure it’ll be changed Hmm

Facetious but probably some truth in it.

Incidentally, I’m of child bearing age but my husband has had a vasectomy? Do we think he’d need to provide proof of that so I can have a drink during our anniversary, or would it just be accepted as truth?

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 17/06/2021 09:51

Drinking is bad for sperm production so men shouldn’t drink until they are 60 at least!

JackieTheFart · 17/06/2021 09:52

@Macncheeseballs

But it's OK to take pethidine which is an opiate, in labour?
How is this relevant?

Don’t be silly, you’re a woman and therefore can’t be trusted. How could we believe that you wouldn’t accidentally have unprotected sex with another man?!

My guess is that like female sterilisation, he would need to be informed and actively provide his consent. Hmm
updownroundandround · 17/06/2021 09:56

I'm waiting for the sequel........

No men should ever consume alcohol, because it affects their fertility.

Or alcohol should be banned worldwide, because it's NOT good for ANYONE !!

Until the sequels are advertised, they won't be persuading me Grin

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 17/06/2021 09:57

Tight fitting jeans for men should also be banned! Wink

Kotatsu · 17/06/2021 09:57

In fact, if you need more than a paracetamol you might as well go whistle

Nooo - you can only have the paracetamol after you've seen if a luke-warm bath eases the pain......

But yes, this is the slippery slope to 'pre-pregnancy' and I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but if reversible sterilisation becomes common, then the next steps on from this could be horrifying.

Ostara212 · 17/06/2021 09:57

@GuildfordGal

It's late and I'm very tired, but I feel a whispery paranoia about this. Not that I'm concerned that it will have any traction here, but that the thing has been green-lit at several levels to get to this stage. How?

I can't get around that this is the WHO.

I don't know why anyone is surprised.

Agree 100%.

I read an interesting article (sorry that I didnt keep the link) a while back that spoke about the effects of poor lifestyle choices on sperm and how they can be linked to developmental difficulties in children. Heavy cannabis use was of particular concern.

However, WHO has decided to target women most of whom stop drinking anyway the moment they learn they're pregnant.

Forestdweller11 · 17/06/2021 10:03

On woman's hour now

SprayedWithDettol · 17/06/2021 10:06

What about men who want children or are capable of having children ? Alcohol affects sperm development too.

lightand · 17/06/2021 10:07

appeasing a certain religion is my guess

I have been waiting for dogs to carry covid, or summat, to deal with that issue as well.

Yeah but men are actual human beings, we can’t start restricting their freedoms…
ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 17/06/2021 10:12
I went to the horses mouth

'It is necessary to raise awareness among decision-makers and the general public about the risks
and harms associated with alcohol consumption. Appropriate attention should be given to
prevention of the initiation of drinking among children and adolescents, prevention of drinking
among pregnant women and women of childbearing age, and protection of people from pressures
to drink, especially in societies with high levels of alcohol consumption where heavy drinkers are
encouraged to drink even more'

Holy fuck.

An org in the USA said this s few years back and got lambasted.

What are they thinking??!!

www.who.int/publications/m/item/global-action-plan-on-alcohol-1st-draft
Wait!!! I think men have been mentioned - look!!!

The 'people' are men. People being humans and what not. People need protecting from pressures to do thing (and their urges I assume).

Non-people (women) need to be prevented.

lightand · 17/06/2021 10:14

Me neither @Ostara212

But many people dont really look - just quietly accepting everything that is presented to them.
