To get different things for different children

For my daughters birthday I bought her a swing set and slide, due to the weight limit it means only my daughter and son can use it and the eldest can’t, according to my mum that is unfair and I should only buy things all the children can use and it’s a “waste of money” yet it was a birthday present for dd so never intended to be a sharing present, does everyone else only buy things that all kids can use? Which is hard to do when there is 6 years between the oldest and youngest

OP you're defensive responses are probably why you're getting more and more comments disagreeing with you. Literally no one said you're terrible. A few people suggested you could have bought a swing set for all the kids and other people said the toddler thing was fine.

For many things I would say yanbu but why would anyone buy garden play equipment not suitable for all the family - its best as a joint gift anyway!

because children with a large age gap are not remotely interested in the same thing? Confused

Ps before I moved I still used the swing ... it's simply not like other toys, you don't outgrow them. Swing sets are not comparable to normal toys

@LoopTheLoops

You can’t buy your kids a big present unless they can all use it! That’s the rules
Pretty shit for the older ones if they have to wait for everyone else to be 18 to get their first car Grin

@fashionablefennel 10 year olds still like swings.

depends on the swing...

Children can understand that other members of the family have different things.

Yes it’s very similar to the one in the picture, I don’t think people are getting it’s a toddler set 🤦‍♀️ Age group says 3-6 getting something bigger wasn’t an option!

Maybe change you title too I bought my baby a baby swing set so off course my 10 year can't use it and of course my baby can't bounce/play on a trampoline.

ZingDramaQueenofSheba, please can you tell me why do you think that it would be awful to have a thumbs up or down button? It might be something that I would agree on, but just haven't thought about, so I am genuinely interested.

OP, I only have my mobile phone, and access MN via the app, the voting facility does not seem to be available via the app?
