Am i asking for too much?

Currently in the process of selling my sofas, less than 12 months old and in pretty much immaculate condition. Cost over £3000 when bought!
Listed on a few selling sites and within 48 hrs had people asking why i’m selling for so expensive as they are second hand! They literally look brand new! Apparently i shouldn’t list as ‘like new’ as ive had them in my house!
How much would you be willing to pay for second hand sofas? 4seater, 3 seater and footstool?

We purchased a 3 seater sofa for £800 and sold it for £100 less than a year later. Perfect condition.
It was absolutely heartbreaking but we had to move and no one would pay more for a second hand sofa. We originally listed it for £500 but after a few weeks had to keep dropping price.

I just don't think they hold any value unfortunately!

Terminallysleepdeprived · 06/06/2021 20:57

Max £500

Wrotten · 06/06/2021 20:57

How much are you trying to sell for?

Aprilx · 06/06/2021 20:57

If I were getting rid of my sofas, I wouldn’t expect to get more than a couple of hundred or thereabouts.

NeilBuchananisBanksy · 06/06/2021 20:58

It doesn't really matter what you paid.

£250 would be reasonable.

Why are you selling?

Findahouse21 · 06/06/2021 20:58

£250 max

ProudPolyGradSingleMum · 06/06/2021 20:59

You’ve had them for a year. Unless they were in a parlour aka good room and haven’t been sat on they’re aren’t as new, sorry.

£500 tops.

Mustardbay · 06/06/2021 21:00

500 for all 3 if it was exactly the one we wanted.

tryingtocatchthewind · 06/06/2021 21:00

A couple of hundred, they are second hand no matter how little time you’ve had them

Pinkflipflop85 · 06/06/2021 21:00

Probably around 400 to 500.

Aquamarine1029 · 06/06/2021 21:03

Absolute max of 600. Used is used. Sorry, but you're just not being realistic.

thefirstmrsrochester · 06/06/2021 21:04

£500, unless it’s mint condition Chesterfield in exactly the colour I’m looking for. Buyers have to rent a man with a van to pick up your suite, and also get rid of the suite they are replacing with yours. That in itself is a couple hundred pounds.

ProudPolyGradSingleMum · 06/06/2021 21:04

How much have you them up for?

oioisaveloy108 · 06/06/2021 21:05

500-600, max. 750 if they are genuinely like new and exactly what I was after

mum2b2017 · 06/06/2021 21:05

i had them listed for £2200! i see from the replies that i am being totally unrealistic!

OP posts:
Rubyupbeat · 06/06/2021 21:06

It would also depend on make, surely?

mum2b2017 · 06/06/2021 21:06

im getting a corner sofa instead as it just fits better with the limited space we have

OP posts:
thefirstmrsrochester · 06/06/2021 21:07

That’s a lot for 2nd hand, regardless of condition. What did you pay in the first place?

mum2b2017 · 06/06/2021 21:08

they are from Sofology, midas range

Yikes. No way. Sorry. Not even close. They’d have to be EXACTLY what I wanted to even go to £500
AnnaSW1 · 06/06/2021 21:09

Yeah it's too much for second hand.

Tohaveandtohold · 06/06/2021 21:09

You’ve had it for a year, ofcourse it’s second hand. It does not matter how much you bought it, what matters now is how much people are willing to pay for it.
For something like that, I’ll pay between £250 and £400. Never more as I don’t have any warranty etc on it, it’s sold as seen.

oioisaveloy108 · 06/06/2021 21:09

Oh wow!

I think the general rule of thumb is at least 50% off

Wrotten · 06/06/2021 21:09

£2200 🤣🤣

Hankunamatata · 06/06/2021 21:09

Around £500
