First time getting baylage in my hair and I showed pictures and explicitly said “I do not want it light. I want darkest brown on my hair”. I even showed picture I hated and he understood I want the sections dark not light. I well I’ve come home with really light brown /blonde/ gingery sections in my hair! He even admitted it was very light and has offered me to come back next week and he will fix it. I know it’s not a huge deal in Scheme of things but is this what can happen? Not really much experience of colouring my hair. Got done from large chain of hairdressers well known, do things like this happen when colouring your hair? I thought I was safe as I showed him exactly what I wanted and what I definitely didn’t want and what I’ve come home with is what I didn’t want!

He said he’ll fix it next week so just be patient and chill

It’s a non issue really as he said he will sort it

GraduallyWatermelon · 30/05/2021 18:01

To be fair to the hairdresser I can't imagine at all what you're describing - balayage is a highlighting technique

GraduallyWatermelon · 30/05/2021 18:02

What was the picture you showed him?

Teessider · 30/05/2021 18:02

You're not really describing a balayage - it's a gradient lightening technique usually

EarringsandLipstick · 30/05/2021 18:03

Exactly.

Can you show the picture you shared with him?

Bagelsandbrie · 30/05/2021 18:04

Balayage is literally painting sections of bleach into the hair. You can add a toner afterwards to change the colour a bit but it’s never going to be dark brown- if you want dark brown I think potentially you’ve asked for the wrong thing. I hope he can fix it for you.

Mellonsprite · 30/05/2021 18:04

Sounds like it just needs a dark toner going over it? I have dark brown hair with a balayage which is mid brown. After the bleach stage, which it needs to lift it, it’s toned back to a lighter brown. Bleach can make brown hair go gingery, but it’s easily sorted.

callmemaybee · 30/05/2021 18:06

See I’m assuming OP has naturally dark hair (black?), so dark brown is lighter than her natural colour and would still produce a dark balayage effect

Kitkat214 · 30/05/2021 18:10

@Mellonsprite. @callmemaybee

Yes I have black hair. But now I have black hair with blonde and ginger sections!

I have to find childcare for next week now as kids st home during half term and kind of put a dampener on the weekend and week. I feel embarrassed anyone seeing me abs thinking this is what I wanted lol! I hated walking from salon to my car I feel really awful. It’s bright and nothing what I wanted.

It was ridiculously expensive too. Not going to mention price on here. I also have to pay next week for him to “fix it”!

OP posts:
callmemaybee · 30/05/2021 18:12

Oh you shouldn’t pay to fix it

Mellonsprite · 30/05/2021 18:13

I’m sure it just needs toning, did he run out of time?
Mine is brighter than I want straight after bleach.

GraduallyWatermelon · 30/05/2021 18:14

Could you put a picture of your hair on here?

Kitkat214 · 30/05/2021 18:14

He did say if there was time he would do today. I know I shouldn’t but I feel really embarrassed being seen. DH just laughed when I came home.

You shouldn’t be paying to fix it.

Kitkat214 · 30/05/2021 18:15

@GraduallyWatermelon no way! Lol.

Shall I find one from internet that looks similar to my hair now?

OP posts:
JustFrustrated · 30/05/2021 18:15

Can you show us the wanted/didn't want photo? And then the outcome? Block your face obvs

At least then we can tell you if you should pay next visit or not

Kitkat214 · 30/05/2021 18:19

This is from internet. NOT my hair. Quite similar So mine now looks like this but the blonde is brighter and some parts look more ginger. Please say it’s not too bad! No Actually be honest x

If you are not going to show the before/after shots this post becomes pretty pointless

Kitkat214 · 30/05/2021 18:23

It keeps crashing as I’m uploading. Will try later. If doesn’t work now

The picture you've posted looks nice but obviously if you're not happy you're not happy, but he said he will fix it. Have you got the pic you showed him you wanted so we can see what you thought you were getting?

Kitkat214 · 30/05/2021 18:25

What do you all think of the hair I just uploaded?

OP posts:
JustFrustrated · 30/05/2021 18:26

That's absolutely fine. I see dark brown, level 4/5 and then swishes of Light brown level 6.

There is no blonde or ginger in that image.

cupsofcoffee · 30/05/2021 18:27

I think that looks really nice, tbh.

Kitkat214 · 30/05/2021 18:27

This is what I wanted. Above pic is what I got
