Is there a weird bug going around ?!

For a week now I’ve been feeling out of sorts on and off, really tired, a bit spaced out, like I’m coming down with something but a cold doesn’t appear, feeling a bit sick then it goes. Just wondered if there’s any weird bugs going around?! I had my jab nearly two weeks ago and I felt odd a day or two after that then it went but then I started to feel like this later that week. My partner is also feeling the same and he had his vaccine 4-5 weeks ago which makes me think it isn’t jab related so must be a strange bug?! It’s annoying as I think I feel better then it comes back again!

Are you sure it's not COVID itself? You can still catch it after the first jab, only milder, which would fit your description. And it is very much going around.

TokyoSushi · 28/05/2021 09:28

I'd get a Covid test if only to rule it out.

justanotherneighinparadise · 28/05/2021 09:28

I feel the same and had my jab a few days ago.

NoNobramma · 28/05/2021 09:28

I have this!! Bloody hope it’s not covid but you’ve made me decide to get a test today just in case.

PaperbackRider · 28/05/2021 09:29

This is an international forum. Are you actually asking if there is "a bug going around"? Like, where? The answer being, yes there are always illnesses circulating in every community, not that we know where yours is.

CoffeeCakey · 28/05/2021 09:31

There's loads of weird bugs going round all the time. Also COVID

Whinge · 28/05/2021 09:33

I also have this. I've not had the covid vaccine so it can't be related to that. I just feel weird. Before your thread I thought it might be down to stress / burnout, as it's been a busy year in my job without a real chance for a break, but now i'm not so sure.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 28/05/2021 09:33

The weather keeps changing. I feel the changes like that.

Try to get some extra vit d and some vit c (i like the fizzy one you put in a water) it should give you good boost.

All four of us in our house have ja dthis and two of the other school mums we know. Both DP and I are double vaccinated and have been for a couple of weeks so it's not that for us. Negative PCR tests so it isn't Covid for us. One of the other school mums has had negative PCR tests as well.

I do think there is a bug going around in our area. It's causing havoc because of course it presents like covid but isn't so half the area is having to isolate (there are loads of DC having to isolate in the school but no idea if it is Covid for them or this bug...suspect the bug because people dissappear for a couple of days and then return so presuming after negative tests).

It's rubbish have felt like I was walking through treacle for about a week.

Rainydays55 · 28/05/2021 09:47

I have to do lateral tests twice a week for work and it’s come back negative and my partner has done one which has also shown negative but I think we may go to a testing centre to rule Covid out.

Yes I’ve had this the past week. Double vaccinated and negative tests. The foggy head is starting to lift now thankfully

AFS1 · 28/05/2021 09:52

I feel exactly the same. No temperature, no cough. Just feel bleugh - very tired, occasional headache. A bit like the start of a cold. Been like this for a couple of days. I’ve had covid before and this feels nothing like it did (although I know each strain and each reaction can be different). Also had a jab 3 weeks ago.

Rainydays55 · 28/05/2021 09:53

Did you find it came and went throughout the day or one day you felt ok then crappy again the next? Glad to hear yours is getting a bit better Aca.

I have to agree with the PP who said we have no idea where you live OP, so how could we possibly know??

Rainydays55 · 28/05/2021 10:00

Sorry, in the south west of England

I've had a permanent headache all this week. Like I'm going to come down with a cold but don't. The youngest 2 had colds. The eldest has had sore throat and cough and been wiped out - bed after school. Eldest and I have done covid tests. All negative. It's just regular germs going about.

LizzieSiddal · 28/05/2021 10:11

I had this for a few weeks straight after first vaccine, I felt headachy and achy all over. Did several PCR tests all neg. thought it was related to vaccine, but then an unvaccinated relative had exactly the same thing a few weeks later. Both in SE, yes there’s a bug going round.

PlanetOfTheApesLives · 28/05/2021 10:15

There are always 'bugs' going around. Some are viral infections and some bacterial.

Bacterial types include:
strep throat
bacterial urinary tract infections (UTIs), often caused by coliform bacteria
bacterial food poisoning, often caused by E. coli, Salmonella, or Shigella
bacterial cellulitis, such as due to Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
bacterial vaginosis
gonorrhea
chlamydia
syphilis
Clostridium difficile (C. diff)
tuberculosis
whooping cough
pneumococcal pneumonia
bacterial meningitis
Lyme disease
cholera
botulism
tetanus
anthrax

Viral types include:
Respiratory viral diseases. ...
Gastrointestinal viral diseases. ...
Exanthemata's viral disease. ...
Transmission. ...
Transmission. ...
Haemorrhagic viral diseases

That's just some of them...so YES there are 'bugs' going around and some of them are very 'WEIRD'

cushioncovers · 28/05/2021 10:15

Yes I think there is, tiredness, headache, appetite not great and just feeling out of sorts but not enough to say you're are ill. Lots of us in our team have felt like this in the last week and we are all double jabbed (Nhs staff)

cushioncovers · 28/05/2021 10:16

I'm also in the south west

PlanetOfTheApesLives · 28/05/2021 10:16

Of course EVERYTHING the EVERYONE gets now after a vaccine, be it the same day or months later is of course down to the 'VACCINE'

People have always been ill Grin

MysteriousMonkey · 28/05/2021 10:17

Also here in the south west of England. I feel so tired and headachey and nauseous.

LindaEllen · 28/05/2021 10:17

That's exactly how I felt when I had covid :(.

PlanetOfTheApesLives · 28/05/2021 10:19

@Whinge

I also have this. I've not had the covid vaccine so it can't be related to that. I just feel weird. Before your thread I thought it might be down to stress / burnout, as it's been a busy year in my job without a real chance for a break, but now i'm not so sure.
Ah... at least you realise that every bug is not related to 'having the vaccine'. Strange times when some people assume everything is down to a vaccine even weeks and weeks later
HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 28/05/2021 10:27

I had vertigo all last week, now I've got sinusitis and I think also a mild chest infection. Done a Covid test just to be on the safe side. Although my lateral flow one was negative
