Is there a weird bug going around ?!

For a week now I’ve been feeling out of sorts on and off, really tired, a bit spaced out, like I’m coming down with something but a cold doesn’t appear, feeling a bit sick then it goes. Just wondered if there’s any weird bugs going around?! I had my jab nearly two weeks ago and I felt odd a day or two after that then it went but then I started to feel like this later that week. My partner is also feeling the same and he had his vaccine 4-5 weeks ago which makes me think it isn’t jab related so must be a strange bug?! It’s annoying as I think I feel better then it comes back again!

Oh and I've not had the vaccine either!

Peppapeg · 29/05/2021 07:41

Just anecdotally, but I think there is. DS caught a cold from nursery (covid test was negative), and passed it on to me. Like PPs have described, you feel crap, not enough to be really poorly, but enough that it's noticeable, and it won't shift. Lots have said the same, all covid tests negative and I don't think anything to do with the jabs as most people are either double jabbed or haven't had one yet!

vegas888 · 29/05/2021 07:50

Definitely a bug going around. My daughter has a bad cough, can’t taste and bunged up nose and has done three negative covid tests and I’ve had stomach aches, headaches and generally feel under the weather and not had the vaccine yet.

MissJeanBrodiesprime · 29/05/2021 08:07

I too have had these same symptoms on and off for months OP, I’m in South East. No cough at all and have never tested positive for Covid. Thought it was down to stress but perhaps not.

Buttybach · 30/05/2021 23:14

Still feeling rough today as is my whole household. DD hasn't had vaccine and she has it
We are in S Wales

Rainydays55 · 05/06/2021 12:26

I was feeling better but the last 2 days I’ve felt rough again - spaced out, a bit dizzy, sick on and off just not great. Googling it suggests vertigo?! So annoying because I thought it had gone. It’s 3 weeks now since my vaccine it can’t be that can it... how’s everyone else feeling? Did anyone else find a solution to clear it?!

I’m feeling like this for the past few days. I had the vaccine a week and a half ago. I feel crap but I felt crap after the vaccine then felt fine, now this. I am due on in a week and I do usually get PMS but this is PMS and then some. Mostly I have zero energy, no desire to move (I am someone who is obsessed with my step count even on my worst days), feel achy and lethargic all over. I really want it to end.

MustBeThin · 05/06/2021 12:43

I've been feeling like this and I've not had a vaccine yet.

Just felt off for 3 weeks Hmm I can't even explain it. I've had no appetite at all, just want to pick at food rather than eat a meal I have periods of feeling dizzy or having a fuzzy head, sometimes have a bloated sickly feeling. I'm not unwell otherwise though I don't feel like I'm poorly, I just don't feel myself.

whyayepetal · 05/06/2021 12:48

Please can I urge anyone who feels unwell to do a lateral flow test as a first step? DD1 had blocked sinuses/runny nose and no other symptoms. It has been confirmed that she has Covid (in her 20s so not vaccinated yet)

Rainydays55 · 05/06/2021 13:16

I have to do a lateral flow test twice a week for work and they have all been negative so far. Just don’t know if it’s a weird bug or still a reaction from the vaccine. It’s horrible!

We did pcr tests as had coughs along with it, they were negative.
chillychicken · 05/06/2021 13:55

I had 3 weeks of vertigo and nausea along with severe chest pains coming and going. GP couldn’t figure out what was going on but my bloods and ecg were clear.

It went as suddenly as it came on. It was 7 weeks post vaccine so I doubt it was related.

IMNOTSHOUTING · 05/06/2021 13:58

Those are such generic symptoms could definitely be any kin of bug.

AIMummy · 05/06/2021 15:39

More than half of DS's class were off last week with a bug (D&V, shivering, coughing). We did the lateral flow test but it was negative. Maybe all the usual winter bugs that were suppressed during the last lockdown are spreading now? 🤔

RattlesnakesUnfold · 05/06/2021 16:29

Have any of you had confirmed covid in the past? Just wondering if this could be long covid (post covid syndrome) it can fluctuate and relapse especially when you’re run down. Not infectious but frustrating. Covid attacks multiple organs during the acute phase and can trigger a massive immune response, which explains long covid to some extent.

Might be worth getting bloodwork and things at the GP if symptoms persist?

Holothane · 05/06/2021 16:30

It’s taken me a week to get over a dreadful tummy bug which last a week, was tested for COVID but negative, hope you feel better soon.

Rainydays55 · 05/06/2021 17:27

No not had Covid previously , done another lateral flow test today in case and it’s negative.

ARealHoliday · 05/06/2021 17:32

@Rainydays55 on the 28th you said you were going to get a PCR test. Just get one today although it might be too late. All the advice is to get a PCR with any symptoms even with negative lateral flows.

The first thing any medical professionals will ask you is to get a test before seeing them if you’re thinking you have a vaccine reaction. Get a test then move on to looking into what it could be.

bumblenbean · 05/06/2021 17:55

I’ve had what the docs reckon is some kind of vertigo / labyrinthitis for almost 3 weeks - strong dizziness / light headed/ off balance and fuzzy headed - and it’s driving me mad. It comes and goes but is there for large portions of every day has been really debilitating... the doctor just says wait for it to go- but no ideas of when that might happen! Am starting to freak out it might be permanent 😱

It started 4 days post second dose of vaccine. It’s probably not related but I wonder if it’s some kind of weird inner ear immune reaction. I also had a cold (which I know can trigger inner ear issues), but that started almost a week after the dizziness so don’t think it’s that either.

So frustrating not knowing what it is and when it’ll go and feel like doctor was quite dismissive. I’ve never suffered dizziness before and now I have it constantly and feel like there’s something really wrong with my head!

If anyone who’s had similar in the past can reassure me it will go that would be great Grin

Rainydays55 · 05/06/2021 17:55

Yes, I didn’t get one on the 28th because the next day I felt fine and have done all week unti yesterday! I will book one for tomorrow morning.

PollyGray · 05/06/2021 18:12

@Rainydays55 I had something like this last year at this time. It was labyrinthitis related to hay fever. I had some tablets on prescription to take the nausea away because every time i moved my head it came over me in waves and I felt so dizzy i had to go up to bed on my hands and knees.

Rainydays55 · 06/06/2021 11:17

Still feeling the same today so I’ve been for a PCR COVID test to rule that out and will be calling the doctor in the morning, really frustrating!

I feel so out of it still. It’s really upsetting me. I’m a very active person normally and I can’t do anything. Feel like I’m on the cusp of flu all the time. I used to get ill a lot in my teens and I always knew when I’d be fully ill and it feels like that but never turning into anything.

Getting very paranoid about how I used to be as a teenager always ill I can’t live my life like that. If it’s to do with the vaccine.. over 2 weeks on I wish I never had it tbh.

Rainydays55 · 08/06/2021 15:15

How do you feel today sociallydistained?

OP posts:
sociallydistained · 08/06/2021 19:51

I’m feeling better thank you. Keeping busy helps, whereas as the weekend I was sure I couldn’t keep busy I was just floored. I still don’t feel 100 percent it’s very strange but I’m hoping I do soon.
