This (Cummings testimony) is starting to sound like a proper set up.

People were joking last year that Hancock would be made the fall guy for everything.

Yup

TheBobJog · 26/05/2021 13:27

Matt Hancock this morning

Matt Hancock is being done up like a Kipper!
TheQueef · 26/05/2021 13:28

Oh he's going under the bus!
Absolutely.

AFS1 · 26/05/2021 13:30

The whole thing is fascinating to watch. Particularly interesting to watch the people that sanctified Cummings and Johnson for Brexit, now having to choose between the two of them as they attempt to tear each other apart.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 26/05/2021 13:30

Everyone knew he would be out of his depth when he got that job. But he over estimated his abilities ,was so keen to please and smarm up to Johnson and Cummings. Plus he is a former Remainer.

The perfect patsy.

It does seem very targeted. I'd say they are all equally to blame (including Cummings) but clearly a scapegoat has been selected, and the rest are hoping to carry on without consequence.

NeedNewKnees · 26/05/2021 13:31

It’s quite the character assassination.

SpindleWhorl · 26/05/2021 13:32

The allegations against Hancock by Cummings are extremely serious. He's been asked for evidence by the joint Chairs.

Hoppinggreen · 26/05/2021 13:33

Poor Boris, he was clearly doing his best and nasty Matt Hancock just ruined everything. Without Hancock nobody would have died from Covid and no business would have been affected - it’s all his fault

Serpenta · 26/05/2021 13:35

The lies about the protective ring around the care homes is so grim.

Cummings is as bad and as complicit as any of them but he really is a man scorned today, hammering Hancock over and over. No criticism of Sunak I notice. He's clearly not wanting to burn all his bridges and envisions Sunak getting the top job at some point.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 26/05/2021 13:36

The worst (hopefully) of Covid is out of the way so it’s easier to get rid of the Health Secretary now, pin all of the blame on him, chapter over and everyone moves on.

I wonder if the other ministers are on their phones briefing to journalists against Hancock right now. More pictures will emerge of him at the pub with people who’ve been awarded lucrative contracts.

There's no choosing to be done!

As ever they are al lying twats. Cummings is doing a really good job of only wearig his sincere face, using his honest voice but Ian Hislop had him bang to rights on last week's HIGNFY! and this time last year too, come to think of it!

A man who lied, hid, refused to talk and then spent too long in a rose garden not actually answering questions is bemoaning the lack of honesty and transparency in the governemnt - a behaviour that he was part of consructing.

He keeps saying "I am not a clever man" and I just want to punch him!

MedusasBadHairDay · 26/05/2021 13:37

Bet Hancock is regretting defending him over Barnard Castle..

Serpenta · 26/05/2021 13:37

I'm sure Michael Gove advised Cummings as to tactics for today's meeting.

TheQueef · 26/05/2021 13:37

I wonder who it will be that takes Cummings down.
Ok he's bursting to get his side out now but afterwards, this won't go unpunished.

Orf1abc · 26/05/2021 13:38

I'm wondering if the fallout between Cummings and Johnson is a fabrication. Going relatively light on Johnson, whilst Hancock is (rightly) crucified.

Hancock, useless, woefully out of his depth.
Johnson, completely incapable and unwilling to make a decision, hence can blame everyone else for his failures.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 26/05/2021 13:39

Remember Savid Javid resigned rather than be Cummings puppet so they replaced him with Sunak. Sunak owes him. Hancock is probably a blocker to Cummings return.

Hancock will resign, BJ soon after to be replaced by Sunak. Cummings is back.

Cummings needs this as he is completely unemployable. No org who has hear of him will employ him. He is completely disloyal.

There is a Goviot flavour to some of the 'open and honest' explanations.

Every time he says that, or that he is not a clever man and shouldn't have been given the job, and oh, so very many obviously stupid things, I can hear it being said in The Goviot's voice!

Agree with this. Boris is behind this.

‘I'm wondering if the fallout between Cummings and Johnson is a fabrication. Going relatively light on Johnson, whilst Hancock is (rightly) crucified.’

My DH said the same thing.

I wonder what it's like to be the Hancock in this situation. Is your phone beeping with supportive messages or is it lying there quiet as former allies slither away, not wanting to be tainted by association.

Crispyturtle · 26/05/2021 13:48

Yes, Michael Gove is VERY quiet atm, lining himself up for PM once the cult of Boris finally falls apart. To see the complete absence of morality or principle in our government, as a direct result of politics being reduced to single-issue (Brexit - either for or against) is the worst thing to happen to this country for a long time.
BeastfromtheNorthEast · 26/05/2021 13:49

Like the contract issued to his former pub landlord?

ohfourfoxache · 26/05/2021 13:59

I’d like to say it couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke.....but in fairness I’d like to see the whole bloody lot of them under a double decker

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 26/05/2021 14:04

I am astonished at Rasputin Cummings. He really has no shame or principles. None of them do really.

Yes this government is so entertaining but I seriously wonder what will it take for voters to not choose more of the same Sad
