This (Cummings testimony) is starting to sound like a proper set up.

People were joking last year that Hancock would be made the fall guy for everything.

Matt Hancock deserves everything he gets.

JudgeJ · 26/05/2021 22:11

@NeedNewKnees

It’s quite the character assassination.
An assassination by such a reliable person, universally known for being truthful!
Thedogscollar · 26/05/2021 22:14

How can anyone with a shred of decency and humanity vote for this shower of absolute incompetent, lying, arrogant, patronising and smug arseholes.

Ffs voters wake up. We all deserve better than thisAngry

the80sweregreat · 26/05/2021 22:18

Agree that if there was a June election Boris and co would win it hands down.
It's no contest.
Starmer could not organize a drink up in a newly opened pub.
It is depressing.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 26/05/2021 22:22

But do we deserve better? The majority voted for this, multiple times. As PP said it’s almost as if this government are a football team to many people and I say this as a centre voter swinging between Labour and Tory (and admit to voting for Blair and Cameron.)

This particular government are very strange. Maybe this is how failed states start out??

The mastermind who told everyone to stay home so they didn't spread covid around the country then drove half-way across the country to test his eyes, is now blaming everyone except himself for all of the mistakes.
What is the point of a chief advisor that nobody listens to?
Cummings is a piece of shit in my opinion and I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. He lies, gas lights and has double standards. A despicable specimen.

newnortherner111 · 26/05/2021 22:39

@JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil yes we do, and one thing I 100% agree with Mr Cummings was when he pointed out how poor the choice at the last election between Mr Johnson and Mr Corbyn was.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 26/05/2021 22:41

@ragged

Nothing will change. Johnson will stay in power. Probably get re-elected with similar size majority in May 2024. In a popularity contest, Johnson wins, DC loses. I would not be surprised if DC is working for Johnson again soon.

I'm a total political anorak & am finding some other political saga to follow tonight. Belarus, anyone?

Nah, Belarus is your garden variety Soviet type dictatorship. Nothing new there, been done before. Now, Samoa on the other hand Shock Wtaf?
Thedogscollar · 26/05/2021 22:43

Yes they were voted in by a landslide but it was all based on lies and deceit.

Boris saw his opportunity and went for it. The party voted for him as leader as he was the popular class buffoon not because he was competent or fit for office but because he appealed to the easily swayed of the electorate who are influenced by this joker.

The opposition was woeful which certainly didn't help. We have to have something better to offer than this. If not then I despair, which I do regularly at the moment.

LEMtheoriginal · 26/05/2021 22:52

Im just excited to see the next Jonathan Pie round up

StealthPolarBear · 26/05/2021 22:59

The "inject me with covid 19 live on TV" stuff was Johnson’s Gummer moment surely.
Did Cummings mention he had A Operation? Five or six times?

LolaButt · 26/05/2021 23:02

Whatever Cummings says now, he quite happily took the massive pay cheque for his role in this utter shit show.

If he felt so strongly about it all, he would have quit or spoken to the media then. I don’t believe this sudden attack of conscience.

If it looks like bs. Smells like bs. Then it is bs.

Guavafish · 26/05/2021 23:04

He is useless and a fish

Babyroobs · 26/05/2021 23:08

@MaryPat

I wonder if criminal charges will arise from the information presented today. The families of those people who died should push for manslaughter charges against Johnson etc al. Care Homes are being investigated by the Crown prosecution service. They need to focus their attentions towards the very senior government members who failed to do their jobs with devastating consequences.
Shocking isn't it. There needs to be a thorough investigation as to what went wrong, the people who died staying at home or waiting for ambulances, the care home deaths, the health care workers dying through lack of PPE. It all needs to be thoroughly investigated. God knows how all those relatives are feeling right now. Truly awful.
DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 26/05/2021 23:11

@Serpenta

I'm sure Michael Gove advised Cummings as to tactics for today's meeting.
Of course he did. Cummings is Littlefinger’s, sorry Gove’s, creation from 2007 onwards. Pob would like the power for himself but we all see the fucking backstabbing Death Eater for what he is and he’ll never get the top job. The best he can do is manipulate the narrative. Cummings is definitely playing the game so he might one day be back in a position of power to do his puppet master’s bidding.

Problem is, much of what DC talks about is true and happened... Care Homes, people were released into them with no testing and 10s of '000s of our most vulnerable then died.

Hancock etc can sue Cummings, he has no protection in law if they believe its not true?

WeAreTheHeroes · 26/05/2021 23:25

I watched him and thought he was lying. Extra blinking and failing to make eye contact for starters. The Barnard Castle crap about him not revealing the true reason for travelling during lockdown, his family's security. Why not say that during that toe curling rose garden statement and interview?

Here is someone who thought he really had influence (if he did have influence and thought things were being mishandled why didn't he take a stand at the time?), who is pissed off now Boris has had enough of him and he's just twisting the knife. I think his behaviour is sociopathic and I don't believe a word of it.

He also clearly detests Carrie Symonds. She probably had the measure of him.

WeAreTheHeroes · 26/05/2021 23:27

He re-writing history to suit his own narrative, the one where he is a good guy trying to do his best and everyone else is incompetent and doesn't care. I know some will say they are incompetent and don't care!

Zzelda · 26/05/2021 23:32

I wish, when Cummings said Hancock should have been sacked for lying, he had acknowledged that this would have been literally impossible for Johnson to do. How can you sack someone else for lying when everyone know that you yourself are lying on an industrial scale?

Zzelda · 26/05/2021 23:37

I think his behaviour is sociopathic and I don't believe a word of it

I agree the Barnard Castle story is still obviously crap, and he is still disguising the fact that his real reason for going up there was to sew up dodgy PPE deals and similar.

However, I do believe a lot of what he said, particularly about chaos reigning at Downing Street, because it has been backed up by so many other people; in fact the corroboration goes back years, because people who worked with Johnson as Mayor have consistently said he was unbelievably lazy and if he ever did anything it was chaotic. Look at the ridiculous garden bridge farce, for instance. Remember the tweet from the Civil Service spokesman inviting us to think about what it was like actually having to work every day with that nest of liars?

OhWhyNot · 26/05/2021 23:37

And once again nothing shall stick to Boris Johnson

Interesting to watch

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 26/05/2021 23:50

Yes, the real source of his ire was obvious when he uttered the words “the Prime Minister’s girlfriend, saying something irrelevant......”
Oh dear Dom, did Carrie spot you for the cunt you are? She might have gone up in my estimation, might.

seepingweeping · 26/05/2021 23:50

Why is he coming out with this now?

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 26/05/2021 23:53

I agree the Barnard Castle story is still obviously crap, and he is still disguising the fact that his real reason for going up there was to sew up dodgy PPE deals and similar
Yeah, it’s odd isn’t it, it’s so extreme as a reason that surely it’s easily proven a lie. So I think it might actually be the one true thing he has said. Either that or he’s a complete sociopath.

BeastfromtheNorthEast · 26/05/2021 23:57

@Zzelda yes that tweet was gold

Arrogant and offensive. Can you imagine having to work with these truthtwisters
