OK I went to butchers bought OH 1lb dry cure bacon his favourite, myself streaky because I prefer that. Guess who finished the streaky I have only had two slices.

Bought some dark chocolate, I enjoy a couple of squares a day. Once I break into it, the rest vanishes.

I bought some chocolate biscuits again once I opened it and took two when I went back the whole packet had been hoovered up.

I buy goodies for granchildren, once they have had a couple of biscuits or a couple of scoops of of icecream the rest vanishes.

I know he pays for it, but do I really need to start hiding food as I did with my kids when they were small?

A few weeks ago with the weekly shop we got a chicken kebab type 'rack'.. Cost £3. Basically chicken on skewers (3)with spices.. I made homemade coleslaw and dh made home made chips..
He chose a steak that was £5..
He scoffed his as I put chicken with coleslaw in a pita..
He reached for 1 of my skewers and I said actually I was keeping it for my lunch the next day (would be home alone). He was very miffed!!
Greedy git!!

Timper · 21/05/2021 13:54

Not a man thing at all. I am far more likely to raid the cupboards and demolish open biscuit packets than my husband.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 21/05/2021 13:59

DS(14) is the bottomless pit in our house, I don’t know where he puts it all! He’s 5ft 10, 9.9st and eats us out of house and home, he came home from school yesterday and ate 5 hot Weetabix with Nutella swirled through it, then a ham & cheese ciabatta, then he had his tea of Meatballs with rice and Greek potatoes and was still hungry after that.

I’m sure he’s got worms! Hmm

CoolCatTaco · 21/05/2021 14:01

Mine doesn't. He can eat huge dinners than sort of turn & impress me in equal measure but he's not much of a snacker & he would never eat anything that he thought was for me or DD. Could eat a family size pie in one go though.

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2021 14:01

Yes. All men are the same. Hmm

AnotherEmma · 21/05/2021 14:02

Yes. All men are exactly the same.

🙄🙄🙄

I'm a bit freaked out by that cross post Grin

ShutUpAlex · 21/05/2021 14:03

Mine doesn’t do this because he is considerate.

I am a fat bitch and will eat everything in sight.

Me too!!!
AnotherEmma · 21/05/2021 14:04

Great minds obviously!

pinkyredrose · 21/05/2021 14:06

he pays for it? Don't you have your own money or is all household income his?

honeylulu · 21/05/2021 14:07

I was joining the thread to say that my husband doesn't do that but my dad and teenage son do. Then I remembered that my mum does as well and in fact she's the worst of the lot! I once bought a 12 pack of mini magnums to take to a bbq but when I went to get them from the freezer on the day she'd eaten the lot - in 5 days! So not necessarily a man thing.

I think a difference is that it is more likely to be the female partner making the effort of planning and shopping. Its not much comfort to know you can go and buy more if the stuff you're planning to eat is gone when you go to get it out of the cupboard. He/she who eats more than their share should get off their arse, go to Tesco and replace it!

BashfulClam · 21/05/2021 14:09

Mine buys a lot of shite with the supermarket shop on a Friday. 12 packs of crisps, multipacks of chocolate bars x4, cookies, sweets…it’s all gone by Monday and he’s off to the local shop to top up and woe betide I take one of his chocolate bars (despite paying for half of it). We now have our own snacks each and don’t touch the other persons.

WilyKitWilyKat · 21/05/2021 14:10

Yes, every single man, without exception, is a greedy pig who eats all the biscuits.

justasking111 · 21/05/2021 14:14

So both sexes can be greedy. But why wait until the packet is opened a couple of biscuits/squares of chocolate/scoop of icecream is removed before snaffling the rest.

It would not be so bad if he was not on a permanent low carb diet which means I need to buy lots of eggs/meat in for him to consume.

I buy seperate snacks for me, dh and DC. Then no one can complain if theirs are all gone before shopping day

thefirstmrsrochester · 21/05/2021 14:16

DH is horrendous for this. We have 2 ravenous DS still at home and I make the effort to ensure that there is more than enough to go round of everything but DH hoovers up far more than his fair share and I end up going to the shops again to replenish what he’s demolished and so the circle begins again. I would like for once there to be a nice biscuit or cake there when I fancy one, not to be thinking ‘I’d better take one when I can before DH eats the lot’.

justasking111 · 21/05/2021 14:18

When DS is home from uni. he is not greedy I have told him to hide treats in his room if he hopes to enjoy any.

Is he allergic to shopping?

SarahBellam · 21/05/2021 14:20

I’ve been with mine for 6 years. Found out last week he has fatal attraction for Toffee Crisps. I brought home a 9 pack I’d bought on a whim as I hadn’t had one for years and all 9 were gone the next morning. He’s since told me he can’t have them in the house. They’re like catnip to him.

Most men are greedy cunts. End of.

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2021 14:21

So why do you “need to buy” things for him?

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2021 14:22

You know the wrong men. That’s absolutely not my experience of men. Or women for that matter.
