It absolutely contributes to women being kept as second class, or rather, the 'sex class'. The class that exists for men to enjoy. This is where my issue with 'it's her choice' comes from. Not everything women choose to do is good for women. Further, when pornstars legitimise violent, degrading sex acts, they legitimise them on behalf of ALL women, as you pointed out. So miss me with the idea that those of us who critically discuss the sex work industry are 'judgy' or 'unfeminist'. We are absolutely allowed to discuss an industry that effects all women, regardless of whether they choose to partake in it or not. And if sex work is work, then the sex work industry is open to criticism and discussion, the same as literally every other industry on this Earth.
Further, violent and degrading porn first started becoming popular in the 70s, at the same time that women were gaining the legal right to work the same jobs as men. Men were LIVID that women were being given a seat at the table. They hated having to show respect to women in the workplace, so they would smile during the day then go home at night and watch violent porn of women being 'punished' to release the rage they had pent up during the day. To this day, men still hate seeing women at the table. The most pessimistic part of me believes that this new agenda of getting as many girls/women into sex work as possible is men's new way of keeping us from having a seat at the table. They can no longer keep us pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen, so siphening as many of us as possible into sex work is the new route of ensuring female subjugation and submission. This is very important too, since we are statistically out-performing them in education and the workplace.
Just a thought I've had, haha.[/quote]

Posing as a man, I've infiltrated a few 'incel' forums ('involuntary celibate') where men who can't get laid talk about women in the foulest and most violent terms imaginable. I won't go into detail here, but some of the things I read still make me feel physically sick if I think about them.
One of the things that seems common to most of the men on the forums is their addiction to hard core pornography.
I definitely think you're onto something with your hypothesis!
