Or do you know someone that is? I'm curious how many real life people are actually on it.

I'm not a journo, the Daily mail is a shit rag.

OP posts:

@Serpenta

I'd like to have an OnlyFans channel where people would subscribe to watch me, in my yoga pants and hoodies, swear whilst trying to change a duvet cover, swear at the seagulls squawking on my chimney, swear at my sleeve for getting caught on a door handle. You get the jist.
🤣🤣 hello me!!

I'd be fucking loaded!

Namechangedlady · 21/05/2021 15:04

There's loads of stuff on only fans that isn't porn. I am a customer on it and follow some fitness instructors. I don't pay though. I was orinally thinking of setting up a weightloss channel on there which is how I ended up on it in the first place.

KevinTheGoat · 21/05/2021 15:06

Yes, but not used it in donkey's.

DrawingPins · 21/05/2021 15:07

Schrodinger most of the comments were people just being complimentary (which I didn't mind, it was a bit embarrassing, but still nice) but there were a few comments about what I'd sound like in bed!

And I agree, there's definitely voices I could listen to for hours (Julie Andrews is one), and others where I can just about cope with them doing links on television (Stacey Dooley).

But getting back on topic, I think some people on there probably have strong boundaries and are able to exploit men watching, but there are lots of other women being exploited.

littlepattilou · 21/05/2021 15:09

NEVER heard of it. #feelingold

madesofeastwich · 21/05/2021 15:22

I've NC'd for this but I've been on it for about a year now - I make about £800-£1000 a month, and I don't do anything that would be considered "pornographic" (I'm never unclothed etc) - I do it alongside my actual full time, professional role and it's never caused me any issues

So what do you do, if you don't mind me asking? I'd imagine £1000 is way over the average earnings for that site. Are you in lingerie? Can they see your face?
beguilingeyes · 21/05/2021 15:28

God this is so depressing and yet so familiar.

In pre-internet days all of these arguments used to apply to page 3 girls. Every girl wanted to do it...it was just harmless fun...empowering..good money etc.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 21/05/2021 15:28

I know a couple of women, and a couple of men who do it, 2 make a small income from it. One does a bit better and the other does really well as they are on Instagram, tiktok and Facebook pretty much full time promoting their account, and spent a fortune on professional cameras and lighting etc.

Good for them.

I find this intriguing especially when there is so much free content that is porn. What are people paying you to do?

ncgy · 21/05/2021 15:30

Your not the fart lady are you? 😆

Only a minority of women actually were page 3 girls though. It seems to be more widespread now.
ncgy · 21/05/2021 15:33

Because no woman is paying to see a man have a tug? That's literally the reason.

I'd pay to see Tom Hardy have a tug or not but can't see him bothering.

Mumoblue · 21/05/2021 15:38

I don’t know anyone who is on it, but I heard it’s basically porn + a mlm scheme because you’re supposed to recruit others? Not sure if that’s true or not but either way it seems pretty grim to me.

Icantrememberthenameoftheartis · 21/05/2021 15:41

My niece and several of her friends (early/mid 20s). Sadly they all think it’s very normal and a great way to ‘earn a living’.

ShamrockHillz · 21/05/2021 15:43

I know 4 people on there. 2 of them are school mums, one lives on my road and the other is a friend of a friend.

purpleboy · 21/05/2021 15:43

It's really depressing to see the next generation falling for this as empowering. What are we teaching our young girls? Sad
@Tabitha005

It absolutely contributes to women being kept as second class, or rather, the 'sex class'. The class that exists for men to enjoy. This is where my issue with 'it's her choice' comes from. Not everything women choose to do is good for women. Further, when pornstars legitimise violent, degrading sex acts, they legitimise them on behalf of ALL women, as you pointed out. So miss me with the idea that those of us who critically discuss the sex work industry are 'judgy' or 'unfeminist'. We are absolutely allowed to discuss an industry that effects all women, regardless of whether they choose to partake in it or not. And if sex work is work, then the sex work industry is open to criticism and discussion, the same as literally every other industry on this Earth.

Further, violent and degrading porn first started becoming popular in the 70s, at the same time that women were gaining the legal right to work the same jobs as men. Men were LIVID that women were being given a seat at the table. They hated having to show respect to women in the workplace, so they would smile during the day then go home at night and watch violent porn of women being 'punished' to release the rage they had pent up during the day. To this day, men still hate seeing women at the table. The most pessimistic part of me believes that this new agenda of getting as many girls/women into sex work as possible is men's new way of keeping us from having a seat at the table. They can no longer keep us pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen, so siphening as many of us as possible into sex work is the new route of ensuring female subjugation and submission. This is very important too, since we are statistically out-performing them in education and the workplace.

Just a thought I've had, haha.
@IJustWantSomeBees

Posing as a man, I've infiltrated a few 'incel' forums ('involuntary celibate') where men who can't get laid talk about women in the foulest and most violent terms imaginable. I won't go into detail here, but some of the things I read still make me feel physically sick if I think about them.

One of the things that seems common to most of the men on the forums is their addiction to hard core pornography.

I definitely think you're onto something with your hypothesis!

The ex policewoman in the first article says:

"I was on there within two or three months of it starting. I was one of the girls who was on OnlyFans before it was even a thing."

Which might be your answer. A bit like an MLM/pyramid scheme, the people in first are the ones that make the money. Now, I imagine it's a platform so saturated with similar options undercutting each other, that it's hard to make that sort of money. If you have some sort of USP, maybe you can.

In any event, it's so bloody depressing that this is is a career choice for so many young women. And I agree with pp, ripe for exploitation. Abusive partners forcing/pimping their wives/gfs on this platform must be delighted they don't have to stand in draughty doorways anymore.

"This pushing and grooming of teenage girls and young women to become pornstars and do sex work is not for female benefit, it is for male benefit. Men are the House in this society and the House always wins"

100% WSS. It's all very well to say good on them making themselves some money but it all contributes to a pornified culture that is absolutely toxic for all girls and young women growing up in it.
Completely agree.

WeebleGirl · 21/05/2021 15:45

**This common misconception is not an accident. Have you noticed all of the newspaper articles and online ads recently that are like: 'Wow! Local Mum Makes £3000 A Month Doing Only Fans In Her Spare Time!'?

It is part of the grooming process that women as a class are collectively experiencing from the porn industry.

This ^ Fucking relentless articles on OF on my Facebook newsfeed.

Aloethere · 21/05/2021 15:47

I know someone who does it. She makes a lot of money. There is no way what she is doing isn't porn, she shoves toys up her arse for men's titillation.

She also in my opinion takes advantage of young women and promises them they can make money too if they pay for 'shout outs' and emails to her 'fans' advertising them. Hoards of young girls paying her 100s to promote them. They all pay these 100s through OnlyFans too so when she is showing off that she made 30,000 a month the 300quid promotions she does for these young women are all included in that figure. It's disgraceful in my opinion.

Grellbunt · 21/05/2021 15:47

Madonna/Whore dichotomy:

Discuss

Girls/women with strong boundaries seen as "above it"/LTR or marriage "material", and others by choice or necessity deemed mere objects?

I’d argue that men signing up for the army isn’t good for men, as a demographic. It perpetuates the idea as men as inherently violent beings, and being capable of aggression as a key male attribute. Shooting and being shot at in foreign countries, often for less than noble reasons, isn’t a career path I’d recommend as a teacher to any boy. But we live in a free society, and lots of men do choose that as their job and apparently enjoy it.
