To not want husband to play pool due to variant

My husband is 51 and is vaccinated fully but has heart disease. He is going to play pool without a few times a week due to easing of restrictions. Ther will probably be 15 in the venue. Aibu to be angry that he is going because the variant from india can infect those fully vaccinated?

People still need to live... I can understand you'd be worried but we can't be locked up forever

Onceuponatime1818 · 15/05/2021 21:07

He’s an adult and has made his own risk assessment

Covid board

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 15/05/2021 21:09

Since covid may never disappear and continually mutate do you want him never to mix again? Yabu he’s an adult

covetingthepreciousthings · 15/05/2021 21:09

I think YABU, he can make his own risk assessment and decide. I think there is going to be a fair few more variants and there has to come a point where we do all have to accept a level of risk going forward otherwise the alternative is avoid all social settings etc etc..

I can understand why you would be apprehensive about it, but I think you need to let him make his own choice when it comes to this.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 15/05/2021 21:10

Yeah, YABU. FFS, people need to go on living how they see fit. He's an adult.

This!
TheKeatingFive · 15/05/2021 21:17

There are going to be new variants for years, do you expect him to stay in for that long?

My understanding is there have not been Incidences of serious illness of those vaccinated. Getting mild Covid isn’t a problem.

ThatIsMyPotato · 15/05/2021 21:19

Unless you are a bit heavily affected by the varient this is probably the safest it's been for over a year?

cupsofcoffee · 15/05/2021 21:20

Do you feel the same way about flu every winter?

Sparklesocks · 15/05/2021 21:22

I understand you are anxious but you need to support his decision - he will be acting within the guidelines and had weighed up the risk himself. Covid (in any variant) won’t disappear overnight and people will need to decide what feels right to them as an individual.

KizzyMoo · 15/05/2021 22:14

Op YABU

wildeverose · 15/05/2021 22:18

YABU.
Life needs to go on now. The vaccine roll out is being ramped up, we should all be vaccinated by the end of July. Covid will always be around us now, like the flu. Time to get on with things op.

EarlLeighIndamornin · 15/05/2021 22:19

Educate yourself. The vaccine doesn’t stop you from catching ANY variant of Covid.

LoadingChoc · 15/05/2021 22:43

You guys are probably right. I just think that a few more years of being extra cautious is a small price to pay. Also the variant of Indian origin has a few more mutations than the others so vaccines work less effectively.

A few more years.

Years Shock

Yabu. That’s such a lot of life. Try not to worry, he’s fully vaccinated as you say.

TheKeatingFive · 15/05/2021 22:54

Seriously?

Life can be taken from you at any time. For far more reasons than Covid. People seem to have lost sight of that.

Odagled · 15/05/2021 22:55

The variant that’s not from India can infect people who are fully vaccinated too.

alibongo5 · 15/05/2021 22:56

I totally agree with @5usa - we can't live like this for years more. When would it end?

PoTheDog · 15/05/2021 22:59

A few more years?! Fucking hell...

A few more YEARS?!?
Thatisnotwhatisaid · 15/05/2021 23:00

YABU. He can’t be locked up like a prisoner, he needs to live his life. Vaccinations are supposedly the answer and he is fully vaccinated so let him live.

LoadingChoc · 15/05/2021 23:00

Sorry just realised that I forgot to say that he wont be wearing a mask as it is hard to play with it. That's probably why I'm mainly concerned

Have you been sniffing something? You think a few more years of this is acceptable?

Fuck that.

years?
