Is it worth buying a baby of six months pyjamas

Or are they mostly still in sleep suits?

Sleepsuits! TBH it’s barely worth buying them anything that’s not a sleepsuit at that age!

Seeline · 02/05/2021 17:16

Sleep suits until about 18 months. So much easier - they don't come untucked, and much harder for them to be taken off by the wearer.

Ponoka7 · 02/05/2021 17:19

Sleepsuits are more comfortable. If you wanted to you can get fancier or different ones for the daytime.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 02/05/2021 17:27

I've never 'got' the baby grows are all babies wear until they're 2 thing that is so often said on here; I always dressed my child in 'day clothes' after she was a few months old, but I put her in sleepsuits/babygrows at night until she was well over one. I was probably over cautious about them pulling the top up over their head in the night and all sorts.

ChocOrange1 · 02/05/2021 17:28

I put mine in sleepsuits at night until they're walking, and then pyjamas. So at 6 months then sleepsuits.

KarmaNoMore · 02/05/2021 17:31

DS was in “day clothes” everytime we were out since day 1 but he was in baby gros when we were at home, and no one was visiting, until he started to walk.

conywarp · 02/05/2021 17:33

This is a really odd question tbh.

Yes it's worth buying them pyjamas at 6 months if you want them to wear pyjamas at 6 months.

No it's not worth buying them pyjamas at 6 months of you don't want them to wear pyjamas at 6 months.

Seriously. It's like asking if it's worth buying a child a pair of trousers. If you want then to have trousers, yes. If not, no.

Beatinghearts · 02/05/2021 17:35

I don’t have a child. I’m asking as I’ve seen some nice pyjamas but the baby I would be buying for them is six months. So I wanted the views of people who have had babies.

Nice sleep suits - day

Grotty sleep suits - night Grin

RandomMess · 02/05/2021 17:37

Mine wore pjs from 3months we found them easier and quicker to take on and off 🤷🏽‍♀️

My babies slept in gro bags.

Sleepyquest · 02/05/2021 17:38

Hmmm I didn't start using pjs until DD was 1 and that was due to her feet being too big for the sleepsuits for her age, but the rest of her body being the right size. I'd say not for a 6mo

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 02/05/2021 17:38

If it’s a gift, maybe size up a bit? I’d avoid buying for the size they are right now generally when they’re babies.

purpleme12 · 02/05/2021 17:38

I got some lovely pyjamas for mine when she was a baby
Unfortunately when she wriggled in her cot the pyjama bottoms came clean off so want very practical for us

otterbaby · 02/05/2021 17:39

I wouldn't bother. Mine sleeps in a long-sleeved vest with a sleeping bag. In colder months I would just use a sleepsuit.

During the day she's normally in a vest & leggings or sleepsuit if we're having a lazy day!

CornishGem1975 · 02/05/2021 17:39

We did PJs from about 8-9 months old, was glad to ditch the fiddly sleep suits. Never left him in sleep suits all day either, not since about 3 weeks old.

JMJTHEWEEDONKEY · 02/05/2021 17:40

I think it would be a lovely present.

My little one was gifted such a cute little dressing gown and gorgeous jammies.

It definitely makes a nice change from outfits as I think they get more wear out of the jammies to be honest.

Also the cuteness of a little dressing gown!

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/05/2021 17:40

I always feel sorry for little babies wearing clothes, it must be so uncomfortable. All they need is a babygro and a knitted cardigan until at least nine months.

Freecuthbert · 02/05/2021 17:40

I think proper pyjamas sounds pointless at that age, can't go wrong with a sleepsuit. But unlike others here, since birth mine has always worn outfits in the day (usually top and leggings, jogger suit or dungarees) even when staying in the house. I didn't think that was so unusual!

JMJTHEWEEDONKEY · 02/05/2021 17:41

Also agree about sizing up. Always extremely handy to have some in the next size Star

Dollywilde · 02/05/2021 17:42

9 month old in sleepsuits here, but that’s more because they come in multipacks and I’m not shelling out for anything nice myself. If family/friends wanted to buy her a gift and got her some nice PJs though I would be grateful, there’s no particular reason she’s not in them other than the sleepsuits being cheaper in bulk. Arguably I’d guess they last longer as it doesn’t matter if they get too tall for them! That said, I wouldn’t spend £££... I feel guilty that all her ‘nice’ gifted clothes have been sicked or vomited on Grin

You need to ask the parents of the baby which they prefer and what size. My babies were still in 3 month size at that age others might be bigger

Mine always wore outfits in the day too I don't think it is unusual I think it's more unusual to it keep them in babygrows in the day
Dollywilde · 02/05/2021 17:44

Daytime she’s been in regular clothes since she fitted age 3 - 6 months. Love a baby in a snuggly sleepsuit but I do feel like I’d taken her out in pjs now, and it’s important imo to have ‘nighttime’ stuff to help with sleep associations.

MakeMineALarge1 · 02/05/2021 18:04

I never put mine in sleepsuits during the day, we always got dressed for the day, comfortable, appropriate outfits, but I always got them dressed.

Yes as well to pj's, I think they look really cute.

Me too. I found pyjamas hard to find in younger sizes and was delighted to get DC into them as soon as they fitted.

Never understood what was desirable about sleepsuits. Fiddly, irritating things.
