To ask if your knickers and bra match?

Twatterati · 15/04/2021 21:31

Just pondering this after seeing the 'how often do you wash your bra' thread.

My knickers and bras match Grin I have very small boobs though, so can get away with cheaper bras. Some are really nice sets for 'best' and others are just plainish bras that match plainish knickers of the same colour.

I'll buy one bra and three pairs of knickers that match - had a bit of a spend in M&S yesterday!

I've built it up into too much of a 'thing' I think! No one ever sees it these days but I feel better for them matching, and a bit 'wrong' if I run out - will go braless instead!

But I don't ever wear socks, even in the depths of winter and don't own any - I mean, what would I match them too??

So - are you matchy-matchy or does anything go?

My bras cost a fortune, just managed to get 2 on sale from Bravissimo for £22 each and the matching pants have sold out anyway.

Hangingover · 15/04/2021 22:20

I cannot get my head around not wearing socks! If I don't wear them my shoes stink and rub horribly. Running would be impossible, they'd be bleeding!

carbonella · 15/04/2021 22:20
@monkeysox - wow, yes, fantasie are £££. I was pretty horrified at the price of some bras in M&S and feel fortunate my boobs are not big enough small so cheap cheap are ok.

I'd quite like big boobs and long legs, just for a day, to see what it's like! I'd probably wander around naked going "look at my fab legs and boobs". I'd have long, straight hair that day too. And a cute button nose!
I have big boobs and long straight hair (not long legs and I'm overweight, so not as nice as it sounds!).

The only time big boobs are useful are when you're having sex. Then it's nice (for my DH, at least!). Otherwise they are a bit pointless!

StevieG55 · 15/04/2021 22:21

No I'm very fussy with my bras and struggle to get one I like in my size. They are often expensive and the knickers to match wld be £8-£12 a pair.

I usually match in colour black pants and black bra but not an actual matching set. Actually I don't own any matching sets at all at the moment.

DontBeRidiculous · 15/04/2021 22:23

I never match. Literally never even crosses my mind unless I see a thread about it on MN.

Sometimes I wear mismatched socks at home, too. If one sock in a pair has a hole before its mate, I throw it in my sock drawer and match it up with another "single" sock. I tell myself it's fun, frugal, and quirky. Wink

PandemicPalava · 15/04/2021 22:26

Never. Massive black granny pants and a different colour bra every day

PandemicPalava · 15/04/2021 22:27

I am a 34JJ though so bras are pricey

FangsForTheMemory · 15/04/2021 22:28

Today, yes, but only because they are 'almond' (fawn) ones from M&S. I do have glamorous silk ones that match but I was a lot thinner when I bought them than I am now, sadly.

sorryiasked · 15/04/2021 22:29

Only in as much as they're both old and past their best! Blush but no I dont have any matching sets.
Bra is an odd size that is hard to find, knickers I prefer comfy ones.

theliverpoolone · 15/04/2021 22:33

No, my bras are mainly flesh coloured as they don't show under light tops. Knickers a variety of colours, mainly dark.

YouWerePrettyIWasLonely · 15/04/2021 22:34

I hardly ever wear a bra so nope, I never match. I love socks though.

Megan2018 · 15/04/2021 22:35

Match in colour but not from a set very often.
Nursing bras still for the foreseeable, mostly plain black, with plain black cotton pants.
Pre baby I had some lovely matching sets but not sure they will ever fit right now.

I do love matching underwear and if I am ever wealthy I will only having matching custom made sets. When I was young and had disposable income I owned a good 30 or so sets. Not expensive ones, but beautifully co-ordinated. But then I also used to shag a lot of men and always wanted to look fantastic. Now I’m happily married (and poor) I no longer bother.

PinkiOcelot · 15/04/2021 22:37

Yes. I only wear matching sets.

Dragonglass · 15/04/2021 22:38

Always! I do love nice underwear.

DontBeRidiculous · 15/04/2021 22:39

I don't even have the "excuse" of needing expensive bras. I'm the small side of average, so I don't have to spend terribly much on bras. I just can't be bothered. Comfort is my key concern. I've never felt a lack in my life because my underwear doesn't match, but then I prefer casual fashion, and mismatched fits that style better than matching sets.

steff13 · 15/04/2021 22:39

Generally they do. My bras are mostly black, and my underwear mostly has black in it or is all black. I have a couple sets that I wear when I think someone new might be seeing them.

Cocopogo · 15/04/2021 22:41

I’m with @monkeysox I wear expensive bras but no way am I wearing lacey, itchy knickers.
My DP keeps asking if I’ll wear a thong, fuck that.

ladsholiday · 15/04/2021 22:43

@DramaAlpaca

No never. I wear my fabulous, expensive bras with good old M&S knickers Grin
Same!
Proudboomer · 15/04/2021 22:46

No. Pants come in multi packs from whatever supermarket I am shopping in when I need to replace.
Bras I have fallen in love with Asda non wired support bras which are a mega bargain at under £10. I have a selection of black or nude.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 15/04/2021 22:47

Always have to wear comfy cotton pants; the ones in sets tend to be uncomfortable cuts and horrible nylon. Whichever bra best suits my top, in terms of shape/colour/visibility. So no. Apart from one matching set, which lives in the drawer.

Carycy · 15/04/2021 22:50

Match the colour. My bras are expensive. The matching knickers are generally uncomfortable and often in dated shapes. So I buy knickers separately in lots of colours to sort of match. Not obsessive about it though. Just if our a black bra on I will naturally seek out a black pair of knickers etc.
I have the odd “bedroom set” where comfort doesn’t matter though.

TokyoSushi · 15/04/2021 22:50

No! Knickers are always multipack, so I might have black knickers and a black bra, but never a matching set, I think the last time might have been on my wedding day in 2010!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/04/2021 22:52

Yes. I have lots of nice sets, plus functional plain black bras, with black knickers which are not an actual match, but are at least the same colour. I could never wear eg pink bra and green pants!

yikesanotherbooboo · 15/04/2021 22:54

Not any longer. I have a lot of bra problems so wear any that fit to death.
I thought matching bras and pants had well and truly died a death as a fashion statement.,

Catlover77 · 15/04/2021 22:54

Of course
