Union Flag

For once i am shocked into silence, just read that there are calls for Morrisons supermarket to be boycotted because the have products in Union flag packaging. It would seem somewimps people are so pathetic that the feel "intimidated" by our countries flag. FFS what a bloody feeble nation Britain has become, it is not as though we wrap goods in a Swastika. If the Union flag is so scary bugger off and live somewhere else, just make sure their flag is not a naughty one.

I agree that it should be the flag of which ever nation the produce is from!
I don’t count the Union Flag as my flag and don’t think it should be on any produce that my country has produced.

CoolCatTaco · 09/04/2021 17:02

Get a grip love & put the wine down.

ghostyslovesheets · 09/04/2021 17:07

gosh you are a cross one - careful of the blood pressure

duvetdreaming · 09/04/2021 17:10

Whatever...I can't say it's up there with issues that I really would get bothered about.

gottenhaitch · 09/04/2021 17:11

Did you know they put you in jail for saying Merry Christmas as well 🙄

Davros · 09/04/2021 17:12

It's always on packaging of British beef, apples, flowers etc. I look for it

SwedishEdith · 09/04/2021 17:12

Ah, the "bugger off and live somewhere else" tolerance of those who, usually, are precisely the same people who have made that rather difficult/impossible for lots of us.

DontBeRidiculous · 09/04/2021 17:14

I agree that it's pathetic to be "triggered" by the sight of the flag of the very nation in which you live. Or offended by it, or however else someone chooses to phrase it. Idiotic.

QueenZoopla · 09/04/2021 17:14

Well said, SwedishEdith.

PerfectPenquins · 09/04/2021 17:16

Lol let them boycot. They might grow up eventually, the shop will still be there.

LemonRoses · 09/04/2021 17:26

I think when it appears on bananas or we find British carrots grown in Spain it is truly ridiculous.
Can’t abide the jingoistic, flag waving neo-fascism that is evolving. I’d choose products without a union flag plastered all over them.

The flag worship around central government is cringeworthy. Zoom calls plastered in them. The move for them to fly from public buildings is reminiscent of 1933.

LubaLuca · 09/04/2021 17:26

Did you get bitten by a radioactive Daily Express, op?

Who is boycotting Morrison's because of this? Literally not one person, that's who.

pepsicolagirl · 09/04/2021 17:27

This isn't happening babe, stand down.

denverRegina · 09/04/2021 17:32

A naughty flag? Confused

LowlandLucky · 09/04/2021 17:34

SwedishEdith I don't care if you are British or Swedish, if the Union flag offends then leave. I have lived in many country's in the world, i never got upset by their flags or customs. I live here in the U.K but my family were not born here but this is my home and the flag of this country doesn't intimidate me.

Did you, by any chance, read a story in a newspaper like the Sun or the Daily Mail and get yourself in a tizz over it?

ghostyslovesheets · 09/04/2021 17:37

Did you get bitten by a radioactive Daily Express, op

or a Britun Furst FB post?

OP it's not even true so take a chill pill and put down the internet for a bit

CloudFormations · 09/04/2021 17:38

Have tracked down the real story. Seems like one random Twitter user has expressed a personal opinion - one they are entitled to hold - about a box of porridge, and some very minimally famous quiz show personality responded with a tweet of her own.

I think we can all agree this is something we can find a way to cope with, if we’re extremely stoical.

CoolCatTaco · 09/04/2021 17:39

As an NI Catholic I'm not too fond of it hanging from lamp posts and the like. It's not my flag & in the wrong context it can be very intimidating. Not scared of a tiny flag on a bag of apples though, and you sound nuts.

@SwedishEdith I don't think you have to leave Confused but I think that @LowlandLuckyLowlandLucky might need some counselling tbh. Why so angry?!

You get yourself a shiny!
BrumBoo · 09/04/2021 17:44

@LowlandLucky wheres your link for this?

peak2021 · 09/04/2021 17:46

I only wish we did not have a government that was using it for political purposes. I am OK with a supermarket using it for British produce.

RampantIvy · 09/04/2021 17:47

Where are you from? I buy British where I can. What is your problem? I am happy to buy Scottish raspberries or Welsh leeks, but it doesn't matter to me if the flag is the Union flag. Buying British in Britain means fewer airmiles, so it is better for the environment.

I was looking at asparagus earlier today, and saw that it was from Mexico so I put it back. I will wait until our own asparagus is available.

FelicityPike · 09/04/2021 17:53

@RampantIvy I’m Scottish.
I buy English/ Welsh/ Irish produce all the time. I even sometimes shop in Morrison’s.
I object to everything being labelled as British. I feel the 4 individual Nations should be represented by their nation’s flag.
I would still buy them though, I just don’t like it as a personal opinion. (When is British asparagus due btw?)
