This appeared on a male friend’s Facebook page. I found it unacceptable and voiced my disapproval, but was surprised how many people, including women, gave it the ‘thumbs up’! What are your thoughts; AIBU?

What’s the rest of the wording on it?

ThePricklySheep · 30/03/2021 15:13

@Freixene

What’s the rest of the wording on it?
Can you see “Don’t let a $7 dress coat you”?
ThePricklySheep · 30/03/2021 15:13

*cost!

LizBennet · 30/03/2021 15:14

Yeah what’s the rest of it?

Freixene · 30/03/2021 15:14

Yes but it looks like there’s more words under that

CuriousSeal · 30/03/2021 15:15

Ergh. That's gross.

LucieStar · 30/03/2021 15:15

I think there's some words missing, I don't understand the slogan?

LaceyBetty · 30/03/2021 15:16

There must be something missing, it doesn't seem to make any sense.

Tallycally · 30/03/2021 15:16

Sorry, it says ‘Don’t let a $7 sundress cost you $70,000 in child maintenance this summer’

Cost you what? I don't get it

@Tallycally

Sorry, it says ‘Don’t let a $7 sundress cost you $70,000 in child maintenance this summer’
Oh. Yeah sexist
LucieStar · 30/03/2021 15:17

Christ. Not cool.

CareBear50 · 30/03/2021 15:17

Eh? I dont understand

Aprilx · 30/03/2021 15:18

@ThePricklySheep

Presume we can all see the same thing, I don’t understand the meaning of that particular sentence though. I have seen many similar pictures of women in short dresses, not sure if there is a reason why this one is worse than any other.

LizBennet · 30/03/2021 15:19

I’m not sure about sexist. Just one of those stupid memes I eye roll at.

LucieStar · 30/03/2021 15:20

@CareBear50

Eh? I dont understand

"Don't let a £7 sundress cost you £700,000 in child maintenance"

The implication being seeing women in short dresses this summer means men won't be able to control themselves and end up procreating, hence the child maintenance, was my assumption?

LaBellina · 30/03/2021 15:23

Sexist and misogynistic as it portrays women as devious creatures trying to lure men into sex to reach their financial goals Confused. Your FB friend seems a real charmer Hmm

LaceyBetty · 30/03/2021 15:24

Absolutely sexist and find it worrying that others don't agree.

Mittens030869 · 30/03/2021 15:25

Don't let a £7 sundress cost you £700,000 in child maintenance

Yes, definitely sexist.

Deadringer · 30/03/2021 15:35

It's very MRA. The suggestion that women are putting on short dresses because they want to dupe unsuspecting men into impregnating them, so they can screw money out of them for 18 years. It's disgusting. It should say keep your eyes in your head and your dick in your pants and leave women the fuck alone and you will be grand.

WovenFish · 30/03/2021 15:41

It could also mean, don't let your wife catch you eyeing up sexy women so you end up divorced and paying maintenance.

AryaStarkWolf · 30/03/2021 15:45

@WovenFish

It could also mean, don't let your wife catch you eyeing up sexy women so you end up divorced and paying maintenance.
Nah I don't think so, you'd imagine the guy is already paying for the up keep of his children if he already has them?
MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 30/03/2021 15:45

I took it to mean "don't get carried away guys - unprotected sex could (and probably will) result in a baby".

gottakeeponmovin · 30/03/2021 15:46

I think it's funny ... sorry

Queenoftheashes · 30/03/2021 15:48

It’s gross.
