Sexist FB post?

This appeared on a male friend’s Facebook page. I found it unacceptable and voiced my disapproval, but was surprised how many people, including women, gave it the ‘thumbs up’! What are your thoughts; AIBU?

Sexist FB post?
OP posts:
Felyne · 30/03/2021 15:48

Bit dehumanizing. Not even "a woman in a £7 dress". It's just a dress with a fuckable hole attached.
Also the attitude that children are women's problem/ responsibility. A child is nothing more that a thing you have to send money for rather than actually being involved in raising.
Gross.
I'd be disgusted if anyone I knew "liked" that.

WovenFish · 30/03/2021 15:48

@gottakeeponmovin

I think it's funny ... sorry
I guess there are lots of people who might find it funny but that doesn't mean it isn't also sexist.

Agree Outdated thinking Cheap and tacky Fb- no surprises when all sorts of cheap shots and flippant comments can be thrown around
User5747384 · 30/03/2021 15:51

I think you would have to be a bit dim to post something like that...
Yes it's sexist.
Gross

It's not ... sorry
Crunchymum · 30/03/2021 15:57

@WovenFish

It could also mean, don't let your wife catch you eyeing up sexy women so you end up divorced and paying maintenance.
This is how I read it too.

And the implied message that men aren't responsible for their actions - it's her dress that will end up costing him maintenance, not the fact he can't control where he puts his dick. Hmm

It is not funny. It is, however, very sorry!
WovenFish · 30/03/2021 15:59

LucieStar and the forgone conclusion that said women in sundress will just be totally up for shagging some bloke who would run a mile if he got pregnant. It's why she's wearing the dress after all right?

Novelusername · 30/03/2021 16:01

Gross on a number of levels:

  • suggests this is a low value woman (cheap dress)
  • image looks like it's taken from porn
  • as another mentioned, dehumanising by reducing a woman into a dress with a fuckable hole
  • suggests women are devious and only care about money
  • reduces women to reproductive role
  • suggests women should be solely responsible for paying for and raising children
  • dog whistling about custody battles
  • suggests men are panting pussy hounds who have to restrain themselves around women in summer attire
I wouldn't comment, but I'd think the person posting it an utter moron who'd never met any actual women before and wouldn't want anything further to do with them.
GrapeLipBalm · 30/03/2021 16:05

Suggests that wiley women trick men into paying them lots of money by wearing sexy clothes Hmm

Yeah and that too. Gross really on many levels!

Quaagars · 30/03/2021 16:11

Meh.
Unfunny joke

Love2cycle · 30/03/2021 16:49

I think it's funny, the whit got me laughing. Sorry!

Goodytoshoes · 30/03/2021 16:54

It's just a silly joke, don't take it too seriously.

I think it means don't get carried away sleeping with women just because they're dressed in a certain way? If that's what it means then I definitely wouldn't say it's sexist lol have a sense of humour, life is too short to get annoyed about silly things like this.

Tbh I think YABU for writing under his post, why not just roll your eyes and scroll past?

Just because you can't see that it is sexist doesn't mean it isn't sexist. People calling out people for being sexist should crack on and be applauded. It doesn't happen enough.
Goodytoshoes · 30/03/2021 16:59

Tbh I see more woman being sexist than men. Seems women are allowed to openly make derogatory comments about men without any batting an eyelid, but heaven forbid the reverse happens.

Women being sexist doesn't make it ok for men to be sexist though does it? Surely neither is acceptable.
GladysTheGroovyMule · 30/03/2021 17:02

@Tallycally

Sorry, it says ‘Don’t let a $7 sundress cost you $70,000 in child maintenance this summer’
Fuck sake. Yeah I’d not be impressed either.
Goodytoshoes · 30/03/2021 17:06

No you're absolutely right, neither is acceptable. As I say though, I don't believe the post is sexist, just daft.

The guy who posted it could be really lovely in real life, I'm sure he was only having a laugh and not trying to upset anyone.

cravingthelook · 30/03/2021 17:23

@Novelusername - spot on - every single point - spot on.

edwinbear · 30/03/2021 17:34

I'd unfriend (on FB and IRL) anyone who posted that. For being too thick to read the room in the current climate, as well as their misogynistic so called humour.

Hadjab · 30/03/2021 17:47

It should say keep your eyes in your head and your dick in your pants and leave women the fuck alone and you will be grand

This is how I interpreted it - essentially the caption is saying don’t be a twat, as it will cost you
